45 martyred and wounded in Israeli attacks on Lebanon over past 24 hours Pars, June 7, 2026 Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health announced that 14 people were martyred and 31 others injured by the Israeli attacks targeting various towns and villages of southern Lebanon on Saturday. According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the casualties include two officers and one soldier from the Lebanese Army among those martyred. The Ministry also reported that an Israeli airstrike on the al-Saksakiyah area in southern Lebanon left two people martyred and 22 others wounded. Among the injured were three children and one woman. Meanwhile, the Lebanese news network Al Mayadeen reported that Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on the town of Haris in the Bint Jbeil district. In addition, Israeli artillery shelled the towns of Jibshit and Aba in the Nabatieh district. Field reports further indicated that the town of Deir Kifa in the Tyre district was targeted in an Israeli airstrike, resulting in at least one fatality. Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health stated on Saturday that the martyrdom toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 3,593, while the number of injured has reached 10,990. 45 martyred and wounded in Israeli attacks on Lebanon over past 24 hours - Pars Today *** Speaker Berri: Israeli Attack on Lebanese Army “By No Means a Mistake or a Suspicion” Al-Manar, June 6, 2026 Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri on Saturday offered condolences to Lebanese Army Chief General Rodolphe Haylkal on martyrdom of two officers and a soldier in an Israeli attack on their vehicle in southern Lebanon. Speaker Berri contacted General Haykal “to offer his condolences to the military institution, its leadership, officers, and personnel,” Lebanon’s National News Agency reported. It added that the Lebanese Speaker also conveyed condolences to the families of Brigadier General Wissam Sabra, Captain Elie Khouri and the soldier Hasan Ghazal on their martyrdom. Stressing the premeditation of the Israeli attack, NNA quoted Speaker Berri as saying: “Today’s crime is by no means a mistake or a mere suspicion, as Israel tries to justify.” Earlier on Saturday, President Joseph Aoun said that the Israeli attack on the Lebanese Army “constitutes flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international laws, as it forms part of escalation that threatens stability and security in southern Lebanon.” He called on international community to “assume responsibilities, intervene to stop repeated Israeli attacks and enforce international resolutions,” according to a post on Lebanese Presidency’s X account. *** Lebanese Army Chief, Rodolph Haykal, heads to Pakistan following Munir invitation Al-Mayadeen, June 6, 2026 Lebanese Army Commander Rodolph Haykal traveled to Pakistan at the invitation of Army Chief Asim Munir amid Islamabad's regional mediation efforts. Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal departed for Pakistan on Saturday on an official visit at the invitation of Pakistan's military leadership, as Islamabad continues diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war affecting Iran and the wider region. In a statement, the Lebanese Army said Haykal traveled to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the invitation of Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and commander of the country's armed forces. The visit comes one day after Haykal met Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at the latter's residence in Ain al-Tineh, according to Lebanese media reports. Pakistan steps up regional diplomacy Meanwhile, Iran's Fars News Agency reported that Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi traveled to Tehran on Saturday, signaling continued engagement between Islamabad and regional capitals. Pakistan has been pursuing mediation efforts since early April aimed at halting the US war on Iran and reducing tensions across the region. The diplomatic activity also comes as the Israeli occupation continues its attacks on Lebanon. Islamabad has repeatedly called for dialogue and political solutions to regional wars, positioning itself as a potential mediator amid ongoing tensions involving Iran and neighboring states. Lebanese officials condemn Israeli targeting of LAF Following the latest Israeli aggression on Lebanon where the IOF attacked on Saturday a Lebanese Armed Forces vehicle in Khardali-Nabatieh district, leading to the martyrdom of two officers and one troop, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held a phone call with the commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, Rodolphe Haykal, in which he offered condolences to the LAF's command, officers, and troops, as well as the families of each of the martyred officers. In the phone call, Berri asserted that the aggression was "not a mistake or confusion" like "Israel" is attempting to pass it off as. Additionally, a member of the Lebanese parliament and head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gibran Basil, also condemned the attack, stating, "When the Army is targeted, the entirety of Lebanon is targeted. The martyrdom of officers and soldiers in an Israeli airstrike is a direct aggression against the Lebanese state, organizations, people, and its army." Basil called on the international community to stop "settling for condemnations [of Israeli actions] while Israel continues to violate all charters and resolutions." 'Hizbullah condemns 'cowardly' IOFs attack Subsequently, the Lebanese Resistance group 'Hizbullah has released a statement condemning the Israeli attack on the Lebanese Armed Forces. In a statement, Hezbollah asserted that the attack is a "deliberate crime", while also linking the attack to the actions of the Lebanese state. “The criminal and cowardly attack carried out by the Zionist enemy against a military vehicle belonging to our national army, which led to the martyrdom of two officers and a soldier, is a premeditated heinous crime,” the Lebanese party said in the statement. The attack “adds to the crimes it [Israel] is committing against our Lebanese people, especially in the South and western Bekaa,” the statement read, asserting that the aggression was a direct consequence of the Lebanese government’s stance toward "Israel" and the United States. 'Natural repercussion of government’s disregard for country’s sovereignty' Hezbollah said the attack is “a natural repercussion of the government’s disregard for the country’s sovereignty and the blood of its people, in addition to its gratuitous concessions, the latest of which is its complete surrender to the enemy’s conditions in Washington" "This has encouraged the enemy to violate the blood of our people and our army," according to the Resistance group. “We extend our warmest condolences and sympathies to the families of the army’s martyrs and to the military establishment, leadership, officers, and soldiers,” Hezbollah said. “We condemn this sinful aggression and reaffirm our standing alongside our national army." Lebanese Army Chief heads to Pakistan following Munir invitation | Al Mayadeen English *** Lebanon crisis: Needs soar as UN launches new funding appeal UN News, 5 June 2026 The UN in Lebanon appealed for an additional $331.5 million on Friday to help 1.4 million people in crisis as already massive needs continue to grow, three months since deadly violence erupted between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces. “Humanitarian needs are soaring with each day of the conflict; our work is unfortunately far from over…we need the funding,” said Imran Riza, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon. Speaking from Beirut as violence reportedly continued despite a ceasefire announcement on Wednesday, the veteran humanitarian expressed his shock at the devastation caused by airstrikes, drone attacks and shelling. He described “hospitals and clinics hit by airstrikes, government buildings destroyed, agricultural land scorched, water stations demolished and schools turned to displacement sites”. Since the latest escalation of violence, more than 3,500 people have been killed and more than 10,000 injured. Nearly one million people remain displaced from their homes. "Health workers and first responders are facing death and injury on a horrific scale" while entire neighbourhoods have been turned to rubble, Mr. Riza said. He also cited the deep and lasting trauma of repeated displacement faced by families, a lack of adequate shelter and uncertainty about being able to return home. Providing critical aid assistance in these conditions is extremely complicated and requires an urgent scale-up in support for the most vulnerable, he insisted. “There are a lot of displacement orders happening all the time. And in fact, this morning there have been a number that have been issued, that people keep moving. So, it’s very difficult to know where people are at certain times.” “Affected people are rapidly exhausting their coping capacities and essential services are under increasing strain,” the UN aid coordination office, OCHA, said in an update accompanying the appeal. Heightened dangers for women, girls Just as in conflicts everywhere, mass displacement has increased the risks for women and girls across Lebanon. “Overcrowded shelters lack privacy, adequate sanitation and basic protection measures,” warned Andrew Saberton, Deputy Executive Director for UN population fund, UNFPA. More than 600,000 women and girls are estimated to be at risk of gender-based violence, he noted, speaking from Cairo via video, to journalists in Geneva. In addition, approximately 1,800 women are expected to give birth every month across Lebanon. “And yet healthcare facilities continue to come under attack, hospitals and primary healthcare centres have been forced to close and women are finding it increasingly difficult to access essential maternal health services”, Mr. Saberton explained. Airstrike tragedy He described how one UNFPA-supported primary healthcare centre and a women and girls’ safe space in south Lebanon that he visited “while it was being rebuilt in 2025, was once again severely damaged by airstrikes. These were amongst the few, very few facilities that continue to operate in the area.” Warning of the protracted displacement crisis now unfolding across southern Lebanon, Mr. Riza noted that beyond Israel’s self-declared military line, an estimated 28,000 people remain. He added that in 2024, after conflict between Hezbollah fighters and Israel, some 68,000 people “could not go back to their villages after the cessation of hostilities”, either because it was not safe or “mainly that their villages had been destroyed. I think our estimation now is that number is going to be much, much larger, at minimum probably around 200,000, but probably more than that”. Friday’s emergency appeal brings the overall ask by the UN and partners for Lebanon through August this year to $639.9 million. Lebanon crisis: Needs soar as UN launches new funding appeal | UN News *** Lebanon: Families flee Beirut as Israel threatens renewed strikes on 'Hizbullah UN News, June 1, 2026 As hostilities escalate in Lebanon despite a recent ceasefire extension, the United Nations continues to push for peace and support displaced civilians by providing food, protection and other assistance. Thousands of people fled the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut, on Monday after Israeli announced that it will carry out renewed strikes targeting Hezbollah militants sheltered there. “Families are leaving by car, motorcycle, and on foot, carrying essentials,” the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, tweeted. Many others are returning to shelters and “fear and uncertainty are mounting.” The UN reiterated that civilians and civilian infrastructures must not be targeted. “We urge all actors to respect the cessation of hostilities and avoid further escalation. We condemn all the loss of civilian lives,” UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told journalists in New York. He underscored the need for a diplomatic solution to end the cycle of violence. High stakes, heavy cost The development unfolded as the UN Security Council in New York prepared to hold an emergency session on Monday afternoon to discuss the escalating conflict. Humanitarians reported that many people escaped from Beirut and the southern cities of Soor (Tyre) and Sayda following the threat of strikes and renewed displacement orders. UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine-Hennis Plasschaert continues her engagement to de-escalate tensions, reinforce commitments agreed to under the ceasefire, and advance confidence‑building measures. In a tweet, she noted that southern Lebanon was “in flames” while roads in Beirut were “choked with people fleeing their homes.” The senior official said that suffering was compounding “as both sides hold out for victory.” She added, however, that “escalation has its own logic” and “attempting to contain or manage it is a high-stakes gamble, with costs borne by people who have already lost too much.” Thousands killed since March The crisis in Lebanon is part of unrest across the wider region. It erupted on 2 March, just days after the United States and Israel began bombing Iran, prompting Hezbollah militants in Lebanon to fire on Israel. Since then, 3,412 people have been killed and more than 10,000 injured, the UN aid coordination office OCHA said on Monday, citing the Lebanese health authorities. At least 88 people reportedly were killed over the past weekend. Healthcare has also been affected by attacks. The World Health Organization (WHO) said five attacks were recorded in the past three days, resulting in one health worker reportedly killed and 19 others injured. A US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel took effect on 17 April but was never fully observed by either side. It was nominally extended twice, most recently on 16 May for a 45-day period. UN agencies are on the ground such as UNHCR, which has been supporting the government-led emergency response. Alongside partners, it has reached hundreds of thousands with protection services, emergency cash assistance, shelter support, and other relief. ‘Deepening humanitarian emergency’ However, “nearly three months into the conflict, Lebanon faces a deepening humanitarian emergency with a critical combination of displacement and increased food insecurity,” the UN World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Monday. More than a million civilians have been uprooted, and food security experts report that 1.24 million people nationwide – nearly a quarter of the population – are not getting enough to eat. WFP stressed the critical need for sustained humanitarian access, stable supply flows and predictable funding. “The ongoing conflict characterised by daily bombardments and displacement orders is challenging humanitarian access and resulting in continued displacement,” the agency said, noting that “these conditions are hampering the delivery of critical assistance, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.” Rising food costs While food remains available in many areas in Lebanon, costs have risen alongside the escalating fighting. For example, vegetable prices are now 20 per cent higher, while bread costs roughly 15 per cent more. Furthermore, although markets in Beirut and other areas “remain operational but under growing strain”, most markets in southern Lebanon and Nabatieh – more than 80 per cent – are no longer functioning. Recently, a shipment of 250 metric tonnes of wheat flour entered Lebanon through Jordan, which is now supporting roughly 10,000 vulnerable households. Hot meals, food parcels and emergency cash WFP has ramped up its response efforts, reaching more than 700,000 people to date with hot meals, ready-to-eat rations, and food parcels for families sheltering in displacement sites. Teams have distributed nearly five million hot meals, in addition to supporting more than 215,000 displaced people across over 500 shelters nationwide, alongside approximately 85,500 people in host communities and hard-to-reach areas. The UN agency has also provided emergency cash support for close to half a million Lebanese through national systems, and cash support for more than 100,000 Syrian refugees. Since the conflict began, 24 humanitarian convoys have been deployed to communities in Lebanon facing access restraints, but more than half of those requested have been delayed or cancelled due to movement and access risks. Humanitarians will launch a renewed flash appeal this Friday to scale up assistance in Lebanon over the next three months. Lebanon: Families flee Beirut as Israel threatens renewed strikes on Hezbollah | UN News *** Israeli MoH: 8 casualties in one day, total since Iran war hits 9,026 Al-Mayadeen, June 6, 2026 The Israeli Ministry of Health reports eight additional casualties on Saturday, bringing the total toll since the start of the war to 9,026, amid ongoing confrontations in South Lebanon. Eight Israeli casualties have been reported between Friday and Saturday, according to the Israeli Health Ministry's latest update of the toll incurred since the launch of the aggression against Iran and Lebanon in late February. As of Saturday, a total of 9,026 casualties have been admitted to Israeli hospitals. Of the 9,026 injuries, 1,125 were recorded amid the war on Lebanon, following a ceasefire involving Iran on April 8, while 710 were sustained on the northern front after April 17, when a so-called ceasefire was declared in Lebanon. At the same time, the Israeli occupation military announced on Saturday the death of a captain from its elite Egoz unit, who succumbed to severe wounds sustained during fighting in southern Lebanon on Thursday. Israeli media also reported that four Israeli soldiers were wounded to varying degrees on Saturday during fighting in southern Lebanon. 'Israel' records mounting losses amid Resistance ops The announcements come amid continued confrontations along the Lebanese border and ongoing Resistance operations targeting Israeli occupation forces. On Friday, an Israeli military officer was seriously wounded, and a unit commander was injured during a confrontation with Resistance fighters in southern Lebanon, according to details reported by Israeli Army Radio. The incident took place at approximately 08:00 am in the village of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, where occupation forces from the Givati Brigade's reconnaissance unit came under small-arms fire from Resistance fighters in the area. According to the report, the exchange of fire left an Israeli officer seriously injured. He was evacuated by helicopter to receive medical treatment. The commander of the Givati Reconnaissance Unit was also wounded during the confrontation and later hospitalized. Israeli MoH: 8 casualties in one day, total since Iran war hits 9,026 | Al Mayadeen English *** Zawtar defeats Givati, as Hezbollah FPVs decimate command Al-Mayadeen, June 6, 2026 Israeli military losses in southern Lebanon continue to mount as 'Hizbullah FPVs target Givati Brigade commanders, disrupting battlefield leadership and operations. Under the relentless strain of Islamic Resistance drones, the Israeli military establishment is trapped in a new tactical and operational quagmire in southern Lebanon, according to Al Mayadeen's Israeli Affairs Department. The damage is no longer limited to troop attrition; it has now decapitated the command echelon of one of the Israeli occupation forces’ premier elite units: the Givati Infantry Brigade (Brigade 84). In the town of Zawtar El-Sharqiyah, located in the eastern sector near the Litani River, Lebanese terrain has transformed into a killing field for soldiers and battalion commanders. This reality has forced a fundamental shift in the course of the Israeli incursion into Lebanon and compelled the General Staff to revise its tactics and withdraw entire formations from the field. Even in its most advertised "achievement" of taking over El-Shaqeef Fortress (Beaufort Castle), Islamic Resistance footage using a thermal-vision-equipped drone showed no Israeli presence in the fortress at night. *** 'Hizbullah unveils Ababeel FPVs deployed in South Lebanon operations Al-Mayadeen, May 21, 2026 The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon continues its operations along the Lebanese-Palestinian border, targeting Israeli occupation forces’ troop gatherings and military vehicles. The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - 'Hizbullah carried out a series of coordinated attacks on May 20 and 21, targeting Israeli enemy army positions across several towns in southern Lebanon using rocket barrages, artillery shelling, and swarms of suicide drones, including Ababil drones, a name taken from the Quranic verse: (And He sent against them birds [Ababil] in flocks). Following are operations carried out on May 20: At 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, resistance fighters targeted an Israeli artillery encampment in the town of Odaisseh in southern Lebanon with a swarm of one-way attack drones. At 2:20 pm, resistance fighters targeted an Israeli artillery position in the city of Bint Jbeil with a one-way attack drone. At 3:30 pm, resistance fighters targeted an Israeli artillery encampment in the town of Rcheif with a one-way attack drone. At 4:50 pm, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli vehicles and soldiers in the town of Haddatha with a swarm of suicide drones. At 6:50 pm, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli enemy army vehicles and soldiers in the towns of al-Bayyada and al-Naqoura with a swarm of one-way attack drones. Following are operations carried out on May 21: At 12:00 am, resistance fighters targeted groupings of Israeli army vehicles and soldiers in the towns of Dibl and Rsheif with rocket barrages. At 12:10 am, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli vehicles and soldiers in the town of al-Bayyadha with a rocket barrage. At 12:30 am, resistance fighters targeted groupings of Israeli army vehicles and soldiers in the town of Dibl and the outskirts of the town of 'Haddatha with a swarm of one-way attack drones. Between 12:00 am and 02:00 am, resistance fighters carried out a wide-scale fire raid on all positions of the Israeli enemy army in the towns of Dibl and Rsheif and the outskirts of the town of 'Haddatha, using one-way attack drones and heavy rocket barrages in repeated waves. At 9:20 am, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli army soldiers near the riverbed on the outskirts of the town of Dair El-Siryan with artillery shells and a rocket barrage. At 10:45 am, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli enemy army soldiers and vehicles in the town of El-Qawza'h with artillery shells. At 12:00 pm, resistance fighters targeted an Israeli engineering vehicle at Khallet al-Raj in the town of Dair El-Siryan with an FPV, achieving a confirmed hit. At 12:10 pm, resistance fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli enemy army vehicles and soldiers in the town of Rsheif with a swarm of Ababil FPVs. At 3:35 pm, resistance fighters targeted an Israeli Namer vehicle in the town of Dibl with an Ababeel FPV, achieving a confirmed hit. At 6:55 pm and 7:00 pm, resistance fighters targeted groupings of Israeli enemy army vehicles and soldiers near the port of the town of El-Naqoura and in the town of Tayr 'Harfa with a swarm of Ababeel FPVs, achieving confirmed hits. Also at 6:55 pm and 7:00 pm, resistance fighters targeted groupings of Israeli enemy army vehicles and soldiers in the towns of El-Naqoura and Dibl with a swarm of one-way attack drones. 'Hizbullah published footage of operations 'Hizbullah's Military Media also published footage documenting operations carried out recently against Israeli assets, soldiers, and more, in southern Lebanon. 'Hizbullah released footage of an operation carried out on May 18 targeting an Israeli Iron Dome launcher in the settlement of Shomera using an FPV drone. Another footage published by Hezbollah showed an operation targeting an Israeli military vehicle in the Iskandarouna area in the southern town of al-Bayyada using an FPV drone. 'Hizbullah's FPV drones expose Israeli military crisis On a related note, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported earlier today that Israeli military commanders and settlers in the north are experiencing deep frustration and anger over military and political stagnation on the Lebanon front, amid continued confrontations with Hezbollah along the border. The newspaper reported that the Israeli military was "marking time on a secondary front", unable to advance or impose a new security reality, while Hezbollah continued to dictate the pace of the fighting. The newspaper cited military sources saying that explosive FPV drones operated by Hezbollah using fiber-optic systems had become the leading cause of injuries among Israeli troops, with the military unable to find technological or electronic solutions to intercept them.
