Global Sumud Flotilla to sail from Italy to break Gaza siege and deliver aid

Sunday 26-April-2026

GAZA, (PIC)

The Global Sumud Flotilla has completed its preparations in Italy to set sail on Sunday, aiming to break the Israeli blockade imposed on the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid.

The flotilla, a civilian initiative launched in 2025 with the participation of civil society representatives, activists, and volunteers from various countries, is preparing for its second voyage as part of the “Spring 2026 Mission” from Italy.

Several boats departed from Barcelona, Spain, on April 12 and arrived on April 23 in Sicily, Italy, where they joined other participating vessels and finalized preparations at the port of Augusta in the island.

On Saturday, activists loaded the ships with essential supplies including water, bread, fruits, vegetables, and fuel. During the final preparations at the port, the Turkish delegation distributed sweets to participants.

Maria Elena Dalia, the flotilla’s spokesperson in Italy, said that the boats are ready and moored at Augusta port, with visa and departure procedures being finalized.

Dalia explained that departure procedures would begin on Sunday afternoon, pointing out that there are many vessels, around 65, so the launch may take some time, but they would finally set sail on April 26.

She added that the flotilla would be headed first for Greece. “That will be our first stop given the unclear geopolitical situation in the Mediterranean due to the war between Israel and Iran. We will rely on intermediate stops to assess the situation.”

Palestinians injured in Israeli assaults in the West Bank and El-Quds (occupied Jerusalem)

Sunday 26-April-2026

WEST BANK, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) and the illegal Israeli settler groups assaulted Palestinian citizens in different areas of the West Bank and El-Quds (occupied Jerusalem) on Saturday evening, injuring a number of them.

In southern al-Khalil, six citizens were injured on Saturday evening after Israeli forces assaulted them during a raid on a Palestinian polling center in the Khillet El-Maiyya village, east of Yatta.

Local official Ratib El-Jubour said that Israeli forces stormed the polling center and attacked citizens and staff during the vote-counting process. They also vandalized the center’s contents and threw stun grenades and tear gas canisters inside it.

El-Jubour added that several citizens suffered from their exposure to tear gas during the IOFs raid on the center.

Eyewitnesses also reported that Israeli soldiers damaged a number of cars outside the center.

The Red Crescent, for its part, said that a young man and a young woman suffered bullet injuries after Israeli forces stormed their father’s home in the village.

Local sources said that Israeli occupation soldiers opened fire inside the house and wreaked havoc on its contents.

Meanwhile, a horde of settlers assaulted Palestinian farmers on Saturday evening as they were working their swaths of land in the village of Bait Iksa, northwest of Jerusalem.

Local sources said that settlers escorted by Israeli soldiers assaulted the farmers and fired dozens of tear gas canisters towards them in the Khirbet El-Samiri area of the village, injuring a number of them.

The sources added that Israeli occupation forces protected the settlers during their attack on the farmers and prevented other villagers from reaching the area.

Another group of settlers closed on the same day the Mikhmas rotary northeast of Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that settlers gathered at the rotary near the village of Mikhmas and blocked Palestinian vehicles from passing.

The village of Mikhmas and the nearby Bedouin communities are exposed to repeated settler attacks under the protection of Israeli forces, including assaults on residents, destruction and burning of homes, shelters, and vehicles, as well as vandalism of solar panels and security cameras.

In another incident, settlers assaulted farmers in the Balqa al-Awsaj area of northern Jericho.

Al-Baidar Human Rights Organization said in a press release that settlers stormed the Balqa El-'Awsaj area and assaulted farmers while they were working their lands, and stole a vehicle belonging to a resident from the Bedouin community of Arab El-Rashayda.

In a fresh incident reported on Sunday morning, a Palestinian young man was reportedly injured in the thigh during his presence near the separation wall in al-Ram town, north of El-Quds (occupied Jerusalem).

The Red Crescent said its paramedics transferred the wounded young man to the hospital for medical assistance.

Dozens of the illegal Israeli settlers defile El-Aqsa Mosque, under police guard

Sunday 26-April-2026

El-Quds (occupied Jerusalem), (PIC)

Hordes of the illegal Israeli settlers escorted by police officers desecrated El-Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards on Sunday morning, amid tight restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshipers to the holy site.

According to local sources, at least 77 of the illegal Israeli settlers entered the Mosque in different groups through its Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards in the morning.

During their tours at the Islamic holy site, the settlers received lectures from rabbis about the alleged temple mount and a number of them provocatively performed Talmudic prayers.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation police imposed movement and entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at El-Aqsa Mosque’s entrances and gates and prevented many of them from entering the holy site.

West Bank sees a new wave of the illegal Israeli settler violence, following six deaths last week

Saturday 25-April-2026

WEST BANK, (PIC)

Illegal Israeli settler groups carried out widespread attacks in the occupied West Bank, which included forced displacement, the burning of property, and armed assaults, following a week of violence that has so far resulted in the martyrdom of six Palestinians.

According to field monitoring by the illegal Israeli Settlement Observatory, settlers forced about 20 families in the 'Arab El‑Khawli Bedouin community in the town of Kafr Thuluth (Qalqilya) to flee their homes after terrorizing them in an attack on their tents and lands.

The governorates of Nablus and Salfeet also witnessed a notable escalation, with armed settler attacks concentrated in the towns of Qusra and Jaloud, involving gunfire and the burning of Palestinian vehicles and equipment.

In Khirbet Tana, a small village to the east of Nablus, settlers and Israeli soldiers savagely assaulted Friday preacher Shaikh Salim Malitat and detained worshipers.

Meanwhile, acts of vandalism and one attack on a house by settlers happened on the outskirts of the town of Baita, south of Nablus.

In al-Khalil, settlers set up ambushes for Palestinian vehicles in Wadi Sa’ir, damaging several of them, while simultaneously storming swaths of land near the town of El-Samou', amid efforts to displace the family of 'Omar El-Jubour in Masafir Yatta.

The settler attacks also extended to the Jordan Valley, where settlers disrupted the educational process in El-'Atmawiyah community and carried out provocations in the Arab al-Ka’abneh area.

Settler groups stormed other areas of the West Bank today, with no reported attacks on citizens or property.

Illegal Israeli settlers destroy hundreds of olive trees in the West Bank

Sunday 26-April-2026

RAMALLAH, (PIC)

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers cut down hundreds of olive trees in the town of Turmus 'Ayya, northeast of Ramallah, in a new attack targeting Palestinian agricultural property in the occupied West Bank.

Local sources reported that illegal Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Adi Ad destroyed about 400 olive trees in the Turmus 'Ayya plain.

This attack comes just days after settlers burned a house and a vehicle in the same town.

In a related context, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said that Israeli forces and settlers carried out 1,819 attacks in the West Bank during the month of March, describing them as part of a “systematic terrorism policy” pursued against Palestinians

WHO: 17,000 infections among the displaced in Gaza linked to rodents and parasites

Sunday 26-April-2026

GAZA, (PIC)

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported more than 17,000 cases of infection among displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip linked to rodents and external parasites since the beginning of the year, as health and humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate amid the ongoing Israeli assault.

In a statement, the organization said that “desperate and dangerous conditions in Gaza continue to hinder recovery efforts,” noting a rise in infection rates among families at a time when the healthcare system lacks the supplies and tools needed to respond effectively.

The WHO estimated damage to the health sector alone at around $1.4 billion, adding that more than 1,800 health facilities have been partially or completely destroyed, “from major hospitals such as Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City to smaller primary healthcare centers, clinics, pharmacies, and laboratories.”

Despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on 10 October 2025 following two years of war, living and health conditions remain dire for Gaza’s 2.4 million residents, including 1.4 million displaced people.

The situation has been exacerbated by Israel’s failure to meet its commitments, including reopening crossings and allowing the agreed quantities of food, humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and shelter materials into the territory.

According to the WHO’s website, its new representative in the occupied Palestinian territory, Reinhilde van de Weerdt, described her first visit to Gaza as overwhelming. “Nothing can prepare you for the scale of devastation there,” she said.

“Reading reports and statistics is not enough. Standing in the streets among towering piles of rubble gives a completely different sense of the destruction,” she added.

Van de Weerdt noted that more than 17,000 infections linked to rodents and parasites have been recorded among displaced people since the start of the year, while over 80 percent of displacement sites have reported skin conditions such as scabies, lice, and bedbugs due to worsening living conditions.

She stressed that the WHO and its partners urgently need to bring in laboratory equipment and supplies to better understand the spread of diseases, but said such materials have not been allowed into Gaza due to the ongoing blockade.

The official called for a “change in the situation,” urging protection for healthcare workers, the entry of essential medicines and supplies, and the removal of restrictions that continue to hinder medical response efforts.

During the war, Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted the healthcare sector, including hospitals, facilities, and medical personnel, causing widespread destruction and severely undermining medical services.

In a related development, Julius Van Der Walt, the Chief of the Mine Action Program in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, warned of the ongoing danger posed by unexploded ordnance scattered across Gaza, much of it embedded in rubble.

“We have only scratched the surface in understanding the scale of explosive contamination in Gaza,” he said, noting that it continues to prevent displaced Palestinians from returning to their homes and hinders recovery efforts.

Speaking to journalists in Geneva, he highlighted Gaza’s high population density as a major challenge for demining operations.

Before the war, around 6,000 people lived per square kilometer, compared to about 120 in Syria, and that number has since doubled in confined residential areas following mass displacement.

He described dealing with unexploded ordnance as a “daily emergency” requiring an estimated $541 million in funding, with implementation dependent on access permits and the availability of specialized equipment.

Since the start of the war, Israeli forces have dropped more than 200,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, including internationally prohibited munitions, according to the Government Media Office in the territory.

Deliveries of food and goods into Gaza plummet after war on Iran

Saturday 25-April-2026

LONDON, (PIC)

The British newspaper Financial Times reported, citing officials and international organizations, that food and commercial supplies to the Gaza Strip have sharply declined after Israel and the US launched their war on Iran.

The Financial Times quoted UN data as saying that a daily average of 60 UN-coordinated trucks carrying aid entered Gaza between the start of the Iran war in late February and a US-Iran ceasefire on April 8, while the average in February before the conflict began was 95.

According to the newspaper, Israel also continues to ban the entry of a wide range of essential items, including building materials.

“What matters more than the number of trucks is the things that are not being allowed in,” Olga Cherevko, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said, citing restrictions on equipment to clear rubble, medical supplies, timber and tool kits to repair shelters.

Under the terms of the October deal between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, which was brokered by the US president, Israel was to allow the entry of 4,200 trucks carrying aid per week as well as goods imported by local private traders, the newspaper noted.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
