While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Gaza: IOFs attack aid seekers, killing one and injuring many others, only few of the hungry Palestinians got aid

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

One Palestinian civilian was killed and at least 20 others were injured on Friday morning when the Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) opened fire at people seeking food aid near the Israeli-US-run distribution points in the Gaza Strip.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that Rateb Jawda was shot dead when Israeli forces opened fire at desperate aid seekers in the northwest of Rafah.

According to local sources, tens of thousands of citizens started at dawn to head for the distribution point, which was established by the Israeli army in the Tel as-Sultan area in western Rafah, only to be surprised that the US company had placed just one aid box inside the center. As a result, all the citizens started to leave the area without receiving any aid, but suddenly Israeli forces opened fire at them, with no reason.

20 other citizens were also injured as they were trying to receive aid from another distribution point in southern Gaza.

Citizens told the PIC reporter that some citizens disappeared after the IOFs attacked aid seekers near the US-Israeli distribution points.

UN office says Israel aid blockade making Gaza 'hungriest region on earth'

GENEVA, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

The UN humanitarian office said Friday that aid deliveries into Gaza remain severely restricted, describing the current flow of food as a "trickle" into an area facing catastrophic levels of hunger.

"It is drip-feeding food into an area on the verge of catastrophic hunger," said Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), during a press briefing in Geneva. "It's not a flood."

Over the past 10 days since the reopening of some entry points into Gaza, nearly 900 trucks were approved to enter. However, Laerke said only around 600 had been offloaded on the Gaza side, and even fewer had been distributed due to operational bottlenecks.

"The routes that we are being assigned to use by the Israeli authorities are very often congested, insecure, and there are significant delays in the approvals that we need," he said.

Laerke criticized what he described as one of the most obstructed humanitarian operations in recent memory. "The aid operation that we have ready to roll is being put in an operational straitjacket that makes it one of the most obstructed aid operations, not only in the world today, but in the recent history of global humanitarian response anywhere," he said.

He pointed to Israel's control over the aid effort as the key issue. "The blockade and the time control of the operation is imposed by a party to the conflict, the occupying power, Israel in Gaza," he added.

"The alternative that they have suggested is neither impartial, independent or workable," he said, referring to the Israeli aid plan with a US-backed aid distribution facility, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

"Concerns about aid diversion that we have heard with no new evidence provided cannot justify shutting down a life-saving operation," said Laerke. "The UN and our partners have strict monitoring in place with security and oversight on every delivery we handle, and we have seen no major diversion of aid under our watch."

"What happens outside the system that we control is not our responsibility," he added. "Our responsibility is the aid that we bring in and that is strictly monitored."

Calling for immediate changes on the ground, Laerke said: "What we need now is a reopening of all crossing points into Gaza -- aid from all corridors, including from Jordan and Egypt."

UN expert: Israel uses humanitarian aid as cover for atrocities in Gaza

GENEVA, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, has sharply criticized Israel for its systematic misuse of humanitarian mechanisms to conceal and facilitate grave atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued Friday, Albanese warned that "the international community must stop Israel’s deliberate and ongoing use of humanitarian frameworks to mask and perpetuate atrocities in Gaza."

She described Israel’s approach as a form of “brutal humanitarian camouflage” that allows it to maintain control over the besieged enclave while deliberately depriving its population of life-saving aid. “We continue to witness horrific consequences, where Israel pretends to promote humanitarian solutions as a guise to deepen its grip on Gaza,” she said.

Albanese voiced alarm over Israel's “deliberate strategy to obscure atrocities,” including the displacement of civilians, bombing of already bombed areas, burning people alive, and disfiguring survivors—actions she said are cloaked in the language of aid to distract from legal accountability.

She also expressed concern over the establishment of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation—a body backed by Israel and the United States to distribute aid under full military oversight. Albanese criticized this initiative for failing to uphold international law and fundamental humanitarian principles such as humanity, impartiality, independence, and neutrality.

“Within hours, horrifying images and videos emerged from Gaza showing how this mechanism operates, including Israeli forces opening fire on unarmed Palestinian civilians. There appear to be no limits to Israel’s actions,” she stated.

As the occupying power, Albanese stressed, Israel is obligated to allow and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. “Access to aid must not be conditioned on political or military considerations,” she insisted.

Referring to the limited aid that entered Gaza after an 11-week Israeli siege, she said it was "nothing but a drop in the ocean," and described the starvation of an entire population followed by the shooting of civilians begging for food as "systematic cruelty."

'Hamas: Israel’s ongoing massacres aim to depopulate Gaza

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement said that the Israeli occupation government’s escalation of its massacres in the Gaza Strip reflects its persistence in pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement as part of its efforts to empty Gaza of its residents.

“The occupation army committed new massacres in the past few hours, mostly notably its targeting of a densely populated block in Al-Buraij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and a massacre at Al-Saraya intersection in the central Gaza City, in addition to direct attacks on homes of civilians and tents of displaced families, killing dozens of citizens, mostly women and children,” Hamas said in a statement on Thursday.

The Movement called on the Arab and Islamic countries and the world’s free people to shoulder their responsibilities towards Gaza and urgently intervene to put an end to the genocide.

It reiterated the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to liberation and self-determination.

'Hamas holds consultations with Palestinian factions on ceasefire proposal

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement revealed on Friday that it is holding consultations with other factions regarding a ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip.

In a brief statement, Hamas said it “is consulting with Palestinian forces and factions regarding the ceasefire proposal recently received from US envoy Steve Witkov through mediators.”

On Thursday, Hamas announced that its leadership had received a proposal from US envoy Steve Witkov regarding an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

'Hamas emphasized that its leadership is “studying the proposal responsibly, in a way that serves the interests of our people, provides relief, and achieves a permanent ceasefire.”

Meanwhile, Hamas’s Head of National Relations Abroad, Ali Baraka, met with a delegation from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine—General Command (PFLP-GC), led by Assistant Secretary-General Abu Emad Ramez, along with politburo member and Lebanon representative Abu Kifah Ghazi.

From 'Hamas, the meeting was attended by Ayman Shanaa, head of National Relations in Lebanon, and Ziyad Hassan, a member of the National Relations Office.

The two parties discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, foremost among them the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and the war of genocide and starvation waged by the Israeli occupation government for over 600 days, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of more than 170,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.

Both sides praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza, who “are facing one of the most horrific genocidal wars in modern history amid international inaction.”

They stressed the Palestinian people’s right to resist occupation and defend their land, people, and holy sites, and to confront settlement, displacement, and Judaization projects.

The participants called for unified Palestinian positions and efforts to confront “Zionist and American schemes aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause in favor of the occupation.”

Both parties also urged the international community to condemn the Israeli aggression, work seriously to end the war on Gaza, and take practical decisions and actions to ensure the aggression stops.

The two sides condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen and called for coordinated Arab and Islamic efforts to halt these aggressions.

They affirmed that the issue of Palestinian refugees is the core of the Palestinian cause and fundamentally a political issue. A just solution lies in their return to their homeland, with the need to provide dignified living conditions and support their steadfastness until this goal is achieved.

Lastly, both sides emphasized that the approach to addressing the Palestinian presence in Lebanon must be comprehensive, not limited to a security perspective, stressing that dialogue between the Lebanese government and the Joint Palestinian Action Committee is the correct entry point to ensuring the interests of both the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army continues to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which initially went into effect on January 19 and lasted for about two months, following 471 days of genocide.

Israeli forces, with full American support, have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in more than 178,000 Palestinians killed or injured, with thousands still buried under the rubble in unconfirmed final tallies.

Israeli army continues deadly attacks on civilians in Gaza

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation army continued last night and on Friday to carry out deadly attacks on different areas of the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring dozens of civilians.

According to local media sources, Israeli forces also continued today to detonate more homes and displace families in the Gaza Strip, further deepening the dire humanitarian crisis as the population grapples with worsening famine.

Since dawn today, at least 20 Palestinians have been reportedly martyred in Israeli attacks on different areas of the Gaza Strip.

According to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter in Gaza, Israeli attacks have continued across the Gaza Strip, including an Israeli strike on a gathering of citizens in Gaza City that killed two of them.

The PIC reporter said that the Israeli army intensified its artillery and aerial attacks on Jabalia, killing and injuring several people and forcing others to flee to Gaza City.

The Israeli army also bombed a group of civilians in as-Saftawi neighborhood in northern Gaza, killing three people.

Two other Palestinians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a civilian car in Abasan al-Kabira town, east of Khan Yunis.

Another airstrike on two homes belonging to the family of Darduna in as-Salam neighborhood, east of Jabalia, injured a number of people.

Seven citizens were also martyred and others were injured in an Israeli attack on a house belonging to the family of Nasr in Jabalia an-Nazla in northern Gaza.

Meanwhile, several Gazans were pronounced dead after they succumbed to injuries they sustained in recent attacks.

The Israeli army also launched attacks on other areas of the Gaza Strip last night and today, killing and wounding more civilians, including children and women.

Minors and women among 13 killed in Israeli drone strike in Khan Younis

GAZA, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

An Israeli drone strike on Friday killed at least 13 Palestinians, including minors and children, in the Al-Mawasi area of Al-Qarara, northwest of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that an Israeli combat drone targeted a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the Al-Mawasi area, claiming the lives of 13.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces opened fire at a woman near Rafah Garage in Khan Younis, killing her.

Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, carrying out a wave of bloody airstrikes across the Strip and killing hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children.

The death toll reached at least 4,058 with 11,729 others wounded, according to medical sources. Emergency teams are attempting to recover victims still trapped beneath the rubble.

In the last 24 hours, the bodies of 72 slain Palestinians and 278 casualties were admitted to hospitals in the Strip, noting that these numbers exclude the fatalities and casualties in the northern Strip due to inaccessibility.

The aggression was resumed amidst concerns over the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Strip given the ongoing siege and ban on the entry of medical and humanitarian aid.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since October 2023, killing at least 54,321 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 123,770 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Israeli airstrike kills 14 displaced Palestinians, including children, in Gaza tent massacre

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Fourteen Palestinians, including women and children, were martyred on Friday in a new Israeli massacre after Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) bombed a tent sheltering displaced families in the Al-Qarara area, northwest of Khan Younus in the southern Gaza Strip.

Medical sources at Nasser Medical Center confirmed that the bodies of 14 martyrs were recovered from the attack, including four women and five children. Several others were wounded in the strike, some critically.

Among the victims was Al-Shaikh Na-il Masran, a well-known community figure, who was killed when the tent he was sheltering in was targeted by an Israeli airstrike in the town of Al-Qarara.

This massacre is part of a relentless and ongoing genocide carried out by the Israeli occupation army across the Gaza Strip. Now entering its 602nd consecutive day, the Israeli offensive has resulted in the martyrdom of thousands of civilians and displaced persons, many of whom were sheltering in makeshift camps, schools, and tents with no access to safety, food, or medical care.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror in the aftermath of the bombing, with bodies of children being pulled from the debris and ambulances struggling to navigate rubble-strewn roads to reach the wounded.

Human rights organizations and international observers have repeatedly condemned the IOF targeting of civilian infrastructure and displacement camps, warning that such attacks may constitute war crimes under international law.

Despite mounting global outrage, Israel continues its military campaign in Gaza with impunity, further deepening the humanitarian catastrophe facing the besieged Palestinian population.

'Hamas: Gaza’s humanitarian situation reached critical stages

Friday 30-May-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement has warned that “the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached critical stages due the expanding and deepening famine, which is posing a grave threat to the lives of over two and a quarter million people, half of them children.”

“The mechanisms purportedly used to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip are criminal methods intended to manipulate the innocent civilians’ urgent needs through orchestrating starvation and weaponizing it to subjugate our people and impose a political, military and security fait accompli serving the Israeli occupation,” Hamas said in a statement on Friday.

'Hamas expressed its concern over “the ongoing international neglect of this humanitarian tragedy, which the government of war criminal Netanyahu relentlessly exacerbates.”

The Movement called on “the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in this regard by enforcing a halt to the fascist Israeli aggression against Gaza, breaking the siege, and facilitating aid delivery through channels authorized by the UN.”

It also urged the Arab and Islamic countries to take decisive action and pressure for an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza, provide its people with their needs, and support them against attempts to displace them and liquidate their national cause.

They said that the occupying occupation forces showed up at a house in Dair Ghassana, a town to the northwest of Ramallah, muscled inside, and rounded up two brothers.

In the predawn and morning hours of Friday, the Israeli occupation forces re-kidnapped a former prisoner and ransacked his house in Dthinnaba neighborhood, east of Toulkarm.

Meanwhile, the sources confirmed a raid in Al-Khaleel (Hebron) City, where the gun-toting soldiers kidnapped a Palestinian citizen and searched several houses, tampering with their contents.

In the meantime, a convoy of the Israeli occupation army vehicles stormed the Nablus city neighborhood of Al-Jabal Al-Shamali, and rounded up a Palestinian citizen.

Also in the Nablus governorate, the forces conducted separate raids in the Zawata town and Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiyya village, ransacking houses and wreaking havoc inside.

The Israeli occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted without the need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.

According to the latest figures from Al-Dhameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 10,100 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 400 child prisoners and 35 female prisoners.

This number includes approximately 3,577 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, which allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.

The mass arrest of Palestinians is nothing new. According to a 2017 report by Al-Dhameer, over the past 50 years, more than 800,000 Palestinians have been imprisoned or detained by Israel; this figure is now believed to be closer to 1 million. This means that about 40% of Palestinian men and boys living under military occupation have been deprived of their freedom. Almost every Palestinian family has suffered the imprisonment of a loved one.

A parked vehicle was targeted by Israeli army gunfire in Sanur, May 30, 2025.

JENIN, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) —

Israeli occupation forces stormed the village of Sannour, south of Jenin in the northern West Bank, on Friday, raiding homes and opening live fire at a vehicle, amid ongoing Israeli military offensive across the governorate.

Local sources told WAFA that several Israeli military vehicles entered the village, searched a number of homes, and fired live bullets at a civilian vehicle. No injuries or detentions were reported.

The raid comes as part of an intensified campaign by Israeli forces targeting towns and villages throughout Jenin, coinciding with their continued assault on Jenin city and its refugee camp, now entering its 129th consecutive day. Kafr 'Iqab faces growing garbage crisis amid Israeli ban on trash truck access

JERUSALEM, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) —

The Israeli occupation’s ban on sanitation trucks crossing the Qalandia military checkpoint has led to a significant accumulation of garbage in the streets and neighborhoods of Kafr Aqab town, north of occupied Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem Governorate stated that "the garbage buildup in the streets of Kafr 'Iqab reflects a severe crisis the town has been facing for weeks due to the occupation’s prevention of sanitation trucks from crossing Qalandia checkpoint, resulting in a 150% increase in accumulated waste, causing major environmental pollution and serious health hazards."

A local source explained that "the crisis stems from Israeli authorities preventing waste collection trucks from passing through Qalandia military checkpoint, which blocks their access to the main landfill site located just meters beyond the checkpoint."

The source added that "due to this restriction, sanitation trucks are forced to take an alternative, longer route through Jaba' military checkpoint, then endure hours of waiting at Hazma checkpoint before reaching the landfill. This alternative route causes daily delays and disrupts the trash collection schedule, exacerbating the situation continuously."

Israeli Army Minister Katz breaks into evacuated Sa-Nur settlement site, pledges to ramp up settlement construction

JENIN, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli Army Minister Israel Katz and Yossi Dagan, head of Israel’s so-called Shomron Settlement Council in the northern West Bank, broke today into the evacuated site of Sa-Nur, a former Israeli colony that was evacuated in 2005, located near the town of Jaba’, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.

WAFA correspondent reported that an Israeli military force, accompanied by two helicopters, stormed the area, with helicopters landing in a plain near the site. Israeli soldiers also set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the nearby town of Ajja, where they searched vehicles and restricted movement.

The Sa-Nur settlement was among several illegal colonies in the northern West Bank—along with Homesh, Ganim, Kadim, and the Dotan military base—that were evacuated in 2005 under the Israeli disengagement plan.

According to Israeli media, Katz used the incursion to deliver a political message, saying: "Expanding settlements in the West Bank is a message to [French President] Macron and his friends. They can recognize a Palestinian state on paper, but that paper will end up in the trash bin of history. Settlement will grow, and Israel will prosper. Do not threaten us with sanctions—we will not kneel, and we will not surrender to threats."

The provocative visit follows the Israeli Security Cabinet’s recent approval of a plan to establish 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, including reinstating former settlements like Sanur.

The plan includes formalizing the legal status of nine existing colonial outposts and creating new settlements in isolated areas deep within the West Bank, such as Mount Ebal in Nablus and other locations in the northern West Bank.

Israeli colonists lay groundwork for new colonial outpost near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli colonists on Friday continued laying the groundwork for the construction of a new colonial outpost in Al-Mughayyir village, east of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to a local source.

Marzouq Abu Naim, deputy head of the village council, said that colonists proceeded with the preliminary construction work of a new colonial outpost on the villagers’ lands in the al-Qale‘ area, just 500 meters away from the village, and set up tents there.

On Thursday, the occupation authorities approved the construction of 22 new colonies in the occupied West Bank, including at previously dismantled sites.

The announcement will also include the formalisation of nine already constructed colonies, including the Homesh outpost, built on the site of another settlement evacuated in 2005.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

According to data from the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, colonists carried out 231 acts of vandalism and theft of Palestinian property in the West Bank during April, affecting large areas of land and uprooting 1,168 olive trees.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.

Israeli colonists set up colonial outpost near Jericho

JERICHO, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli colonists on Friday evening set up a new colonial outpost to the west of al-Auja town, north of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to an activist.

Hassan Mleihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouins’ Rights, said that the Bedouin communities of al-Auja detected Israeli colonists bringing vehicles and erecting metal bases and tent sheets to serve as the nucleus of a new outpost to the west of the town.

The new colonial outpost, he added, overlooks the Al-Auja town from the south and Arab al-Kaabna Bedouin community from the southwest.

Just five days ago, colonists erected a new colonial outpost near the dwellings of Palestinian inhabitants in the Shallal al-Auja Bedouin community, north of Jericho.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Spain condemns Israel’s approval of 22 new settlements in the West Bank

MADRID, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) – The Spanish government on Friday condemned Israel’s recent approval of plans to build 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, calling the move a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to regional peace.

In a statement issued by the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the government expressed its "deep concern" over the Israeli decision, warning that such actions severely undermine the prospects of a two-state solution and escalate tensions in the region.

Spain also voiced alarm over the intensifying Israeli military aggression in the West Bank, particularly in the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nour Shams refugee camps. The statement denounced the ongoing demolitions, increasing settler violence, and the forced displacement of thousands of Palestinians, describing these acts as violations of international humanitarian law.

The Spanish government reaffirmed its position that lasting peace in the Middle East requires the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state encompassing the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Barcelona votes to cut ties with Israeli government, suspend friendship agreement with Tel Aviv

BARCELONA, May 30, 2025 (WAFA) –

Barcelona’s City Council on Friday voted to cut institutional ties with the Israeli government and suspend the friendship agreement with the city of Tel Aviv, according to the AFP.

The City Council voted in favor of cutting institutional ties with the Israeli government and suspending its friendship agreement with the city of Tel Aviv, citing violations of international law and the rights of Palestinians.

The motion, supported by the governing Socialist party along with far-left and leftist pro-independence groups, calls for an end to all official relations with Israel "until respect for international law" and the "basic rights of the Palestinian people" are restored.

Barcelona will also suspend a 1998 friendship agreement with Tel Aviv, and it urged the trade fair organizer Fira de Barcelona not to host Israeli government pavilions or companies involved in the arms trade or profiting from Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.

A similar recommendation was made to the Port of Barcelona.

"The suffering and death in Gaza over the past year and a half, and recent attacks by the Israeli government, make any relationship unviable," Barcelona's Mayor Jaume Collboni said during the council session.

It is not the first time Barcelona has moved to suspend ties with Israel. In February 2023, then-mayor Ada Colau cut ties with the twin city, Tel Aviv, due to Israel's apartheid policy towards Palestinians.

By taking this decision, Spain's second-largest city -- a top tourist destination and home to one of the world's best-known football clubs – joins a chorus of voices that have condemned Israel's devastating genocidal war on Gaza, which killed at least 54,321 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 123,770 others.

Barcelona's move comes a year after Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognized a Palestinian state in a coordinated decision slammed by Israel.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
