Human rights report: Unprecedented escalation in the abuse of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons

Saturday 27-December-2025

RAMALLAH, (PIC)

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society warned of a dangerous escalation in the systematic repression carried out by the Israeli Prison Service against Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, as part of entrenched policies aimed at tightening control and breaking their will.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday based on dozens of legal visits conducted during December 2025, the two institutions said that repression has become one of the most prominent tools used by the Israeli prison system and has witnessed an unprecedented escalation since the start of the genocidal war. No prisoner has been spared assaults that resulted in varying injuries, most of them fractures, particularly to the ribs.

The statement revealed that legal teams documented numerous testimonies during the same month regarding systematic raids and assaults targeting prisoners in general, and women and children in particular, in a blatant violation of all humanitarian laws and norms.

In Damon prison, where around 50 female prisoners are held, detainees were subjected to a series of organized assaults inside their cells. On December 5, repression units stormed three rooms, sprayed tear gas, forced the women to lie on the ground, and assaulted them with beatings, while hurling insults and obscene language, under the pretext of finding phrases described as “inciting.” This was followed by punitive measures, including sealing the rooms and denying the prisoners their daily yard time (fura).

In another incident, at dawn on December 14, repression forces stormed two rooms, handcuffed the women from behind, blindfolded them, and took them out into the yard in freezing cold, where they were forced to kneel with their heads lowered. The operation was filmed and accompanied by police dogs and the use of stun grenades, in addition to extensive vandalism inside the rooms. According to the women’s testimonies, the operation continued until the morning hours.

The female prisoners confirmed that their suffering worsens with the onset of winter, amid shortages of clothing and blankets, the absence of heating, the continuation of starvation policies, and deprivation of medical treatment and healthcare, especially for prisoners with chronic illnesses, including cancer. They also noted the use of basic necessities, foremost sanitary pads, as an additional means of humiliation.

In Ganot prison, where a number of leaders of the prisoners’ movement are held in solitary confinement, including leader Ahmad Saadat, the prison administration imposes harsh detention conditions and delays providing medical treatment. Testimonies indicated that Saadat is suffering from scabies without receiving the necessary treatment and was subjected to physical assault during transfers between prisons, causing him severe back pain.

The statement noted that a number of imprisoned leaders have remained in solitary confinement for more than two years and are subjected to repeated torture and assaults that have resulted in multiple physical injuries.

In a related context, prisons, particularly Ganot, have recorded a marked escalation in repression operations following the completion of the latest prisoner exchange deal, with near-daily raids on sections and rooms, involving severe beatings, tear gas, rubber bullets, electric shock devices, and police dogs, often during the early morning hours or at midnight.

Testimonies from prisoners in Gilboa and Shatta prisons also reported a dangerous increase in the pace of repression, accompanied by violent physical assaults and the firing of gas inside cells, amid deteriorating health conditions, the spread of scabies, and the continuation of starvation policies and denial of medical treatment. This has compounded prisoners’ suffering as the cold intensifies, turning it into yet another tool of torture.

Gaza hit by new storm as another looms Monday

Saturday 27-December-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The war-ravaged Gaza Strip is facing a new winter storm with heavy rain and gale-force winds, compounding misery for displaced Palestinians living in fragile tents and damaged structures that lack basic needs.

Meteorologist Laith al-Allami reported Saturday that this marks the third such front this winter, starting at noon and lasting through Sunday evening, with a fourth storm expected to arrive on Monday.

He added that this storm would be accompanied by strong wind gusts, with speeds expected to range between 70 and 80 kilometers per hour.

Municipalities of Northern Gaza: IOFs turns the governorate into a disaster area, deepens the humanitarian collapse

Saturday 27-December-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Municipalities in the Northern Gaza Governorate announced that the Israeli occupation army has effectively turned the governorate into a disaster area by continuing to block the entry of essential supplies, including water, fuel, and spare parts, as well as obstructing the entry of reconstruction materials. This has exacerbated the service and humanitarian collapse to an unprecedented level.

In a press conference on Saturday, the municipalities said that the Israeli occupation army has destroyed more than 150 kilometers of vital roads and damaged around 70 water wells and treatment plants, in addition to destroying all electricity generators belonging to the municipalities, and devastating nearly 50,000 dunums of land and agricultural crops.

They explained that the ongoing shortage of fuel needed to operate water wells and sewage networks, along with the absence of maintenance materials and pipes, has led to the accumulation of thousands of tons of waste in streets and residential areas, warning of a real public health disaster and the widespread outbreak of diseases and epidemics.

The municipalities stressed that the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation army on the entry of equipment and materials necessary to repair infrastructure have almost completely paralyzed municipal crews’ ability to respond to emergency needs, depriving tens of thousands of citizens of the minimum level of basic services.

The municipalities of Northern Gaza called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to save what remains of the essentials of life in the governorate, and to pressure Israel to allow the entry of fuel, spare parts, maintenance, and reconstruction materials, in order to restart water and sewage networks and reopen damaged roads.

This warning comes amid the continuation of the suffocating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, despite the truce in effect since October 10, following nearly two years of ongoing Israeli aggression that has caused widespread destruction to infrastructure and vital facilities.

Although the ceasefire agreement stipulates the entry of 600 aid trucks per day into the Strip, non-governmental organizations and the United Nations confirm that Israeli occupation authorities continue to obstruct the implementation of the agreement, allowing only between 100 and 300 trucks to enter, most of which carry limited aid that does not meet the population’s growing needs.

The municipalities warn that the continuation of this situation places Northern Gaza on the brink of total collapse and turns the humanitarian crisis into a long-term catastrophe, unless immediate and effective steps are taken to lift Israeli restrictions and ensure the unobstructed flow of aid and essential materials.

IOFs seal villages near Ramallah after false shooting claim, intensify raids in northern W. Bank

Saturday 27-December-2025

RAMALLAH, (PIC)

Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) sealed off several Palestinian towns and villages west of Ramallah in the West Bank on Saturday, citing a reported shooting incident that Israeli media later acknowledged was false and unrelated to any attack on soldiers.

According to local sources, the IOFs imposed a tight security cordon on the entrances of the villages of Naalin, Bilin and Kharbatha Bani Harith, blocking all movement in and out. The closures disrupted daily life for residents of at least 13 surrounding Palestinian communities attempting to reach Ramallah, sparking widespread local anger.

Earlier, the Israeli occupation army claimed that a “resistance fighter” had opened fire near the security fence at the Hashmonaim checkpoint west of Ramallah and escaped without causing injuries. The army said large forces were deployed to the area, launching searches and sealing nearby villages.

However, Israeli media outlets, including Yedioth Ahronoth and Channel 13, later quoted the army as admitting that the gunfire was related to routine hunting activity rather than an attack on its forces. Despite this clarification, Israeli occupation forces continued their pursuit of the shooter, allegedly to confiscate the weapon, while maintaining closures across the area.

At the same time, IOFs continued, for a second consecutive day, their assault on the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin. Reinforced military units deployed across residential neighborhoods, erected earth mounds to block main roads and enforced a strict curfew. Troops raided homes, vandalized property, bulldozed streets and caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.

As part of the operation, the IOFs seized the home of Ahmad Abu al-Rub, identified by the army as responsible for attacks in Bisan and Afula, and converted it into a military post. Several young men were detained inside the house and subjected to abuse. Additional arrests were reported, including Ahmad Hassan Nazzal, Yasser Khuzaymiya, Firas Taleb, Naji Nazzal and Jaafar Shabout.

Israeli media earlier reported that a Palestinian opened fire on Saturday at a military position near the separation wall west of Ramallah, close to the Naalin crossing, without causing casualties.

Following the incident, Israeli occupation forces closed the gates of Naalin, al-Muhalel neighborhood, Kharbatha Bani Harith and Atara, detaining dozens of vehicles. The Atara military checkpoint was also shut down from the early morning hours, severely obstructing movement for Palestinians traveling between northwestern and western Ramallah and the northern governorates.

According to an October report by the Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the total number of permanent and temporary Israeli checkpoints and gates across the occupied West Bank has reached 916, including 243 iron gates installed since October 7, 2023.

Rights experts say such measures amount to collective punishment, which is prohibited under international humanitarian law and constitutes a war crime under the Geneva Conventions.

Settlers attack Palestinian cars, citizens in W. Bank

Saturday 27-December-2025

WEST BANK, (PIC)

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles at the main entrance of Bil’in town, west of Ramallah City in the occupied West Bank on Saturday.

Local sources said that cars traveling on the main road near the town’s entrance came under attack from settlers, without reporting about casualties or material damage.

In a separate incident, a group of settlers attacked a Palestinian truck near the Zaatara checkpoint in southern Nablus, smashing its windows.

Other settlers with tractors also stormed the Bedouin community of Shakara, east of Duma town in Nablus province, and attempted to run over local residents and foreign activists.

In southern Jenin, settlers on a quad bike chased a shepherd and his cattle in the Palestinian town of Raba, attempting to prevent him from grazing his animals in the area.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
