While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

ýImpacts and Aspects of the Israeli Genocidal War on the Gaza Strip

'Hamas: Our people are victims of savage Israeli terrorism that must be stopped and prosecuted

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement said that the Palestinian people are victims of ongoing savage terrorism carried out by a fascist government in full view of the world. Hamas called for this terrorism to be criminalized, its perpetrators prosecuted, and for serious international efforts to be made to halt the aggression, end the occupation of Palestinian land, and secure justice and legitimate rights for the Palestinian people.

In a statement released on Thursday marking the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, 'Hamas said, “Today, August 21, the United Nations and the international community commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism around the world, while a state of paralysis, negligence, and complicity continues internationally, particularly through the US and some Western governments’ support for the Zionist-occupation regime in its genocidal war, starvation, and destruction of all aspects of human life. These crimes are being carried out by the fascist occupation government against more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”

'Hamas pointed out that this war has been ongoing for 685 days, claiming the lives of more than 62,000 martyrs and injuring around 160,000 others, the majority of them women and children, constituting a flagrant violation of international laws, UN resolutions, and universal human values.

The Movement stressed that the UN’s commemoration of this day, along with its institutions and the broader international community, places a political, legal, ethical, and humanitarian responsibility on them all in the face of “the continuing Zionist terrorism against the Palestinian people, their land, and their sanctities”. Hamas emphasized the urgent need to act seriously to end the aggression and bring the occupation to an end.

The statement affirmed that realizing the slogan “Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism” cannot be achieved merely through issuing statements condemning “Zionist terrorism.” Rather, it requires ending the occupation, the root cause of terrorism, and activating international legal mechanisms to prosecute its leaders as war criminals responsible for killing children, women, and civilians through bombings, starvation, and siege.

'Hamas further declared that the martyrs of the Palestinian people over the past seven decades, including those killed in the ongoing genocidal war, starvation, and aggression in Gaza and the occupied West Bank for over 22 months, are not mere numbers. They are victims of “Zionist terrorism carried out by a murderous occupier, backed by US support and shielded by international silence and complicity,” it added.

The Movement strongly condemned “the blatant double standards adopted by the United States and certain governments and organizations in dealing with the victims of Zionist terrorism, aligning themselves with the executioner rather than the victim.” Hamas held them responsible for partnering in and supporting this terrorism.

The statement called on the United Nations and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to make this international day an occasion to honor and remember the victims of Palestinian people subjected to relentless “Zionist terrorism” across the occupied land. It urged that the day be considered as an opportunity to raise voices and intensify all forms of pressure “to stop the aggression, genocide, and starvation, and to bring the leaders of the occupation to justice.”

Abu Salmiya: 1.3 million at risk if Israel invades Gaza

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, warned that 1.3 million people are at risk if Israeli occupation forces launch a ground invasion into Gaza City, adding that the medical system cannot serve them under such conditions.

In a press statement on Thursday, Abu Salmiya said, “We fear for the lives of our medical staff and patients. Hundreds have already been killed inside hospitals.”

He stressed that there is no room left to receive the wounded and that the morgues are full.

Abu Salmiya called for an immediate end to this war.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza, including mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in blatant defiance of international appeals and orders by the International Court of Justice to stop the assault.

The genocide has resulted in more than 210,000 people killed or injured, the majority of whom are women and children, along with over 9,000 missing persons. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has claimed the lives of many, especially children, amid severe shortages of food, medicine, and clean water.

The estimated number of people now homeless is around 1.5 million out of 2.4 million total residents of Gaza. With the siege in place for over 18 years, Gaza’s population is now trapped in a devastated land with no means of survival.

UNRWA: Child malnutrition in Gaza has tripled in less than 6 months amid Israeli blockade

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has warned that child malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has tripled in less than six months as Israel’s ongoing genocide and blockade strangle humanitarian access.

In a statement posted Wednesday evening on X, Lazzarini said that UNRWA had screened nearly 100,000 children under five since March, uncovering what it called “alarming” findings.

In Gaza City alone, one in every three children now suffers from malnutrition, a rate six times higher than before the collapse of the March 18 ceasefire, according to the UNRWA chief.

“This is not a natural disaster,” Lazzarini stressed. “This is a man-made famine, and one that is preventable.”

He noted that for nearly six months, Israel has blocked UNRWA and other aid organizations from delivering food and life-saving supplies into Gaza.

Meanwhile, UNRWA warehouses in Egypt and Jordan are stocked with aid sufficient for 6,000 truckloads, enough to sustain Gaza for three months, but have been barred from entry.

Lazzarini renewed his call for immediate access for humanitarian convoys through UNRWA and partner organizations.

The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Thursday that 271 Palestinians, including 112 children, have died from malnutrition caused by Israel’s deliberate starvation policy since October 7, 2023.

Earlier this week, Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that 1.2 million children are now suffering acute food insecurity, with most lacking access to adequate nutrition or supplements.

UNRWA official: Gaza faces “unprecedented humanitarian tsunami”

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

'Adnan Abu 'Hasna, media adviser for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), warned on Wednesday that the Gaza Strip is facing an “unprecedented humanitarian tsunami” as a result of Israeli policies during the ongoing genocide.

In remarks to local media, Abu 'Hasna said that the Israeli occupation maintains control over nearly 86 percent of Gaza’s territory, either through direct military presence or evacuation orders that render vast areas uninhabitable.

He stressed that this makes Israel fully responsible before the international community for the lives of more than two million people, including the provision of essential services such as healthcare, education, water, electricity, telecommunications, and even waste collection.

Abu 'Hasna described the famine gripping Gaza as a “man-made famine,” pointing out that the Israeli government decided on March 2 to block the entry of food, medicine, and fuel. He warned against any attempts to force Palestinians into displacement or southward relocation, calling such measures blatant violations of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and the UN Charter.

He also noted that Israel is working to dismantle UNRWA as part of a broader strategy aimed at undermining the Palestinian refugee issue and eliminating prospects for a two-state solution. Despite the targeting of the agency, he stressed that UNRWA will continue its mission.

Between March and July alone, UNRWA provided medical services to nearly 1.5 million patients, an average of 18,000 per day, while thousands of staff continued to deliver psychological support, shelter, water distribution, and waste management under dire conditions.

“What we are doing now is not about improving quality of life,” Abu 'Hasna emphasized. “It is about keeping people alive in their homeland.” He urged an immediate ceasefire and the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid.

The Gaza Strip, home to more than two million residents, has been enduring catastrophic conditions since the war began on October 7, 2023, with health, food, and living conditions worsening drastically, especially in the north.

International organizations continue to warn of deepening health and nutrition crises. UNRWA recently reported that child malnutrition rates in Gaza doubled between March and June this year due to the ongoing siege and shortages of basic supplies.

Dozens killed, injured amid intense Israeli attacks in Gaza

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation army continued, last night and on Thursday, to carry out intensive deadly strikes and target civilians in different areas of the Gaza Strip.

According to local media sources, Israeli forces also continued today to detonate and bomb more homes and displace families in different areas of the Gaza Strip, further deepening the dire humanitarian crisis as the population grapples with worsening famine.

According to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter in Gaza, Israeli attacks have continued across the Gaza Strip, including a drone attack on a group of farmers that killed five of them in the east of Al-Asdaa City, north of Khan Younus.

Casualties were also reported following a dawn strike on an apartment in Gaza City’s Al-Shaikh Radhwan neighborhood.

Four civilians were martyred following an Israeli attack on a gathering of displaced citizens outside a school in ash-Shati refugee camp in the west of Gaza.

In central Gaza, the Israeli army destroyed an entire displacement camp, including all its tents, in Dair El-Bala'h City after forcing its residents to leave it.

In Gaza City, Israeli forces continued to detonate and bomb homes in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood. Over 450 homes and buildings were destroyed in the past few days.

Dozens of people were martyred or injured in Israeli attacks on aid seekers near distribution points in separate areas of Gaza.

Two other people were pronounced dead today due to starvation and malnutrition, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The Israeli army also launched attacks on other areas of the Gaza Strip last night and today, killing and wounding more civilians, including children and women.

Meanwhile, several Palestinians in Gaza were pronounced dead after they succumbed to injuries they sustained in recent attacks.

Seven Palestinian aid seekers killed by Israeli gunfire

Thursday 21-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Seven Palestinians were killed and 18 others injured on Thursday evening, following an Israeli strike that targeted a gathering of aid seekers near an aid distribution point on Salah al-Din Street, south of the Wadi Gaza area in central Gaza.

Medical sources at Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving seven martyrs and dozens of injuries following Israeli shelling and gunfire on citizens while they attempted to obtain humanitarian aid.

Since the first day of the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”, points for aid distribution in Gaza have turned into death traps. Incidents of shooting at aid seekers have become increasingly frequent, with rising casualties among those desperate for help as the pace of Israeli massacres escalates.

The genocidal war against the Gaza Strip continues for the 685th consecutive day, amid a worsening humanitarian and living crisis. Citizens in the enclave face the ravages of war while under a tight siege that denies them food and medicine.

Airstrike on school in Al-Shati Camp kills five, injures others

GAZA, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

An Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter on Wednesday evening killed five civilians and injured others in Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that Israeli fighter jets targeted Asmaa School sheltering displaced people in the refugee camp, claiming the lives of five civilians and injuring others.

Earlier, a mother and her child were killed in Israeli shelling targeting a group of civilians in Al-Zarqa area of the al-Tuffa'h neighborhood, northeast of Gaza City.

Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, carrying out a wave of bloody airstrikes across the Strip and killing at least 10,576 with 44,717 others wounded, according to medical sources.

In the last 24 hours, the bodies of 58 slain Palestinians, including two retrieved from the rubble, and 185 casualties were admitted to Gaza hospitals.

Israel has waged a military onslaught on the Strip since October 2023, killing 62,122 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 156,758 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafa'h near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Two Palestinians die due to starvation and acute malnutrition in Gaza

GAZA, August 20, 2025 (WAFA) –

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the deaths of two Palestinians within the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

This brings the total number of the starvation-related fatalities to 271, including 212 children.

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies. The severe famine is intertwined with the genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, the occupying authorities sealed off all crossings with the Gaza Strip, blocking the entry of most food and medical aid, further accelerating the spread of famine across the territory.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing blockade.

The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, with nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffering from acute malnutrition.

UN warns Gaza’s humanitarian crisis worsening amid rising shelter shortages

GAZA, August 20, 2025 (WAFA) –

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating, with "Palestinians being killed and injured daily, and famine and malnutrition continuing to worsen."

The UN office warned in a statement that there is a major shelter crisis. Meeting the current shelter needs of approximately 1.4 million people requires 3,500 trucks loaded with tents, plastic sheeting, and basic household supplies, not counting any future displacement that would increase needs.

The UN office also voiced alarm towards delivering such supplies, describing it  a challenge due to ongoing restrictions.

The office called for facilitating relief and humanitarian aid, stressing the need to maintain the crossing leading to the north and Gaza City for the delivery of shelter materials.

Enduring hell: Gaza detainees face severe Israeli torture and terror behind bars - Prisoners' Institutions

RAMALLAH, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

Nearly two years into the Gaza genocide and severe crimes against Palestinian political detainees held in the Israeli occupation’s prisons continue. Those abducted from the occupied Gaza Strip are enduring the worst levels of torture and abuse compared with any other detainees, said a briefing issued by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

The Commission and PPS released this new briefing based on testimonies obtained – under strict conditions - by lawyers during visits to detainees conducted between late July and mid-August. The visits were conducted specifically in the underground “Rakevet” section of Ramla Prison, and the “Sde Teiman” military camp, both notorious for systematic torture of Palestinians detained from occupied Gaza.

In the underground “Rakevet” section of Ramla Prison, detainees came to their lawyers’ visits weeping, terrorized.

All detainees had been threatened and beaten prior to seeing their lawyers. Prison guards attempted to force detainees to lie to their lawyers and tell them that everything is “excellent.” Lawyers were forbidden from sharing any information about detainees’ families, who remain in Gaza, or the ongoing genocide.

Key testimonies revealed the continued practice of beatings and finger-breaking, along with total isolation—detainees are denied sunlight and allowed out to the yard every other day for 20 minutes, handcuffed and forced to keep their heads down.

Mattresses are distributed at night and removed in the morning, forcing prisoners to sit on metal beds all day. Guards deliberately humiliate them with insults, including forcing them to curse their own mothers and families, alongside constant threats and psychological terror. Several prisoners came to their visits weeping and terrorized. One appeared to have been severely beaten—his face covered in tears, marks on his wrists from the handcuffs. He was unable to speak about what happened to him, only trying to signal to the lawyer with his eyes. His case is not isolated; all detainees showed severe psychological distress, with fear dominating the entire lawyers’ visit.

The interrogation period stands out as one of the clearest reflections of the level of torture and grave violations inflicted by interrogators against detainees abducted from occupied Gaza.

Detainee (A.Y.): "I was arrested in December 2023 and taken to the 'barracks,' where I stayed for eight days. During that time, I was subjected to four days of 'disco' interrogation. Later, I underwent further interrogation by the intelligence services and the army, then I was transferred to Asqalan Prison, where I was held in a cell for a month without knowing day from night, and subjected to very harsh military interrogations.

They would strap me to a chair and then throw me to the ground while my hands and feet were bound. I was beaten daily for 30 days straight. I currently suffer from torn chest muscles and severe pain due to prolonged shackling of my arms behind my back. After Asqalan, I was moved to Ofer Prison, where I was shown a screen with a map to locate my home and was questioned about several locations in Gaza."

Detainee (Y.D.): "I was interrogated in the field for an hour, then transferred to the 'barracks,' where I was beaten, and then placed under the 'disco' interrogation method, where I was severely beaten, suspended in stress positions, and lost consciousness several times. They poured water on me to wake me up. The beating was so violent that my handcuffs came off twice. I was struck violently on the head, and my hair was pulled out. Now I suffer from rib fractures and I can’t sleep. The torture also caused a tear in my left ear, vision impairment, and kidney pain."

Detainee (A.B.): "I was arrested on the second day of the war. I was already suffering from a jaw injury and had undergone surgery. After my arrest, I was transferred to Asqalan Prison, where I was held for a month and a half and was subjected to military interrogation. They put me in stress positions including the ‘mozeh’ (banana) position, during which I was beaten. This continued for 17 days, including once for 5 consecutive days. The interrogators would grab my testicles and beat me on them, trying to pressure me into confessing. They also blindfolded me and threw me from the chair to the ground. After being transferred to Ramla Prison, I was subjected to another round of interrogation, during which the guards broke my fingers."

Hunger and Disease Dominate Testimonies

All detainees who were visited confirmed they are suffering from extreme hunger — one described the situation as “famine.” They are given extemely small portions of food, often inedible. Detainees collect these scraps to form a single evening meal. The amount of food provided to an entire cell is barely enough for one person. Most are experiencing severe weight loss, emaciation, and extreme exhaustion, along with worsening illnesses and health conditions.

In addition to deliberate starvation, diseases and infections continue to spread — most notably scabies skin disease, which has become one of the most pressing health issues facing the prisoners. The prison system has actively continued to its spread by depriving detainees of basic hygiene and medical care, and refusing to eradicate it.

Main Facts About Palestinians Detained from Gaza

Since the start of the genocide, Israeli occupation forces have detained thousands of civilians from across the Gaza Strip — including women, children, the elderly, the wounded, as well as medical and press personnel.

In addition to the abuses mentioned in this briefing, Israeli occupation forces have carried out other severe acts such as rape, including raping detainees to death, as well as torturing and starving them to death.

The occupation also continues to commit the crime of enforced disappearance against hundreds of detainees abducted from Gaza, refusing to disclose their identities or locations of detention. To this day, the International Committee of the Red Cross is denied access to visit them.

Due to some recent legal amendments, human rights organizations have managed to uncover the fate of hundreds of detainees, gaining access to most prisons and detention camps — including “Sde Teiman”, a key site of documented torture and medical abuse, and the underground Rakevet section of Ramla Prison.

Amid these severe abuses, dozens of detainees have been killed in custody, in addition to others extrajudicially executed upon arrest. Of the 76 identified martyred political prisoners since the genocide began, 46 were people arrested from Gaza.

RAMALLAH, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation forces have continued their major military incursion into the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, since early Thursday morning. The raid has involved assaults on residents, destruction of property, and damage to agricultural land.

Ameen Abu 'Ulayya, head of the village council, told WAFA that the Israeli army sealed off the two main entrances to the village, preventing movement in or out—including for ambulances.

Illegal Israeli settlers brutally assault Palestinian woman, her son in Bait La'hm (Bethlehem)-area village

Bait La'hm (Bethlehem), August 20, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers brutally assaulted a Palestinian woman and her son in the village of Al-Minya, east of Bethlehem, according to local sources.

The head of the village council, Zayid Kawazba, said that a group of colonists broke into the western area of the village and raided the home of the Abu Khalil Jabarin family.

He added that the occupation forces raided the area and detained the family's eldest son, Khaleel Jabbareen.

He emphasized that the village of Al-Minya, which has a population of approximately 3,000, has been afflicted by the ongoing colonist attacks, which have included the closure of its main entrances from the western and southern sides, in addition to the closure of the high school since the beginning of the aggression.

Kawazba pointed out that colonists had previously seized approximately 250 dunams of the village's land and built a solar power plant to supply electricity to the Ma'ale Amos and Ibi Hanahel illegal outposts, both built on Kisan lands.

He appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to halt the attacks by the occupation forces along with its colonists, which have besieged the village and restricted the daily lives of its residents.

Foreign Ministry calls on UNESCO to assume its responsibilities in protecting Palestinian archaeological sites from the dangers of Judaization and annexation

RAMALLAH, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to uphold its responsibilities in protecting Palestinian archaeological sites from the dangers of Judaization and annexation.

This statement follows the Israeli occupation authorities’ recent announcement designating 63 sites in the West Bank as Israeli heritage sites.

The Ministry condemned this announcement as a blatant violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, and signed agreements.

The statement said the classification of the sites comes as part of a colonial plan to seize control of 2,400 sites across the West Bank by force of occupation, within the framework of a colonial ideology pursued by the occupation government to intensify the crimes of gradual annexation, alter the West Bank’s features and identity, impose new realities on the ground, and change its geography and demographic reality.

The Ministry described the designation of these sites as one of the largest acts of piracy and theft of Palestinian land for purely colonial purposes, carried out under flimsy pretexts and baseless claims unsupported by any documented historical evidence. It condemned the move as an open crime of falsifying history and the present.

The Ministry added that this also constitutes another form of settler colonialism targeting the civilization of the Palestinian people and their archaeological and historical sites.

The Ministry called on the international community to act swiftly to expose this crime and confront the Israeli narrative being promoted to intensify settler presence and control over these sites, the majority of which are located in the heart of Palestinian cities and towns.

The Ministry reiterated that these plans threaten the possibility of realizing the State of Palestine on the ground, through the Judaization of these sites and the erasure of their identity. Therefore, swift international recognition of the State of Palestine contributes to safeguarding the prospects of implementing and preserving the two-state solution, the statement concluded.

In a meeting with settler rabbis, Katz pledges total destruction of Gaza City

Thursday 21-August-2025

NAZARETH, (PIC)

Israeli war Minister Yisrael Katz vowed to destroy Gaza City in the same way his occupation forces devastated Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

This came during a meeting he held with a delegation of senior rabbis and rabbis of settlements in the northern occupied West Bank, according to a statement issued by his office on Thursday. The meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half, was held at the Army Ministry headquarters with the participation of the official in charge of the so-called “Hilltop Youth.”

During the meeting, the rabbis praised Katz’s stance calling for the continuation of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and urged him to “do whatever it takes to settle the battle.” Katz responded by affirming his commitment to completing the military operation, telling them: “Gaza City will look like Beit Hanoun.”

The army minister added that “the army’s operations will be carried out to the maximum extent possible, with the goal of recovering all the hostages (Israeli captives) and achieving a strategic decision that will harm Hamas.”

Katz’s meeting with the rabbis came a day after thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews (Haredim) protested on Wednesday evening, simultaneously blocking major roads in central and northern Israel in response to the arrest of draft evaders from their community, according to Israeli media.

The Haredim continue their protests against military service following a June 25, 2024 ruling by the Israeli Supreme Court obligating them to enlist and barring financial aid to religious institutions whose students refuse military service.

Katz’s remarks coincided with an announcement by the prime minister’s office on Wednesday that Netanyahu had instructed the acceleration of the occupation of Gaza City, while mediators had been waiting for more than 48 hours for Tel Aviv’s response to the truce proposal approved by Hamas.

The Israeli occupation army spokesperson Effi Defrin said that the military had already occupied the outskirts of Gaza City, but it remains unclear when the full-scale ground assault will begin.

Hamas had announced its acceptance of the proposal put forward by Egypt and Qatar, which lays out a path toward a comprehensive agreement to end the war. The proposal includes a temporary suspension of military operations for 60 days and the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for the release of half of the Israeli captives in Gaza.

With US support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, through killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders by the International Court of Justice to stop. The Israeli genocide has so far left 62,122 martyrs, 156,760 wounded, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 263 people, including 112 children.

Israel’s E1 settlement plan poses existential threat to Palestinian statehood, says Government Communication Center

RAMALLAH, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Government Communication Center said that Israel’s E1 colonial settlement plan, long in preparation, is now moving forward, posing an existential threat to the geographic and demographic integrity of a sovereign, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In a statement, the Government Communication Center stressed that the Plan is part of Israel's systematic effort to undermine the possibility of realizing a Palestinian state, compromise its geographic and demographic unity, and perpetuate the division of the West Bank into isolated areas, submerged in a colonial environment to facilitate eventual annexation.

“If implemented, this plan will not only deepen the cycle of forced displacement and settlement expansion but also irreversibly undermine the viability of the two-State solution, which remains the cornerstone of international consensus for peace,” the statement read.

“At this critical juncture, we appeal for your principled stance and leadership. The international community must act to prevent the implementation of this colonial plan and to safeguard both the Palestinian people’s rights and the prospects of a just and lasting peace, as well as to preserve the credibility of the international rules-based order,” said the Government Communication Center in a statement.

According to the statement, the Israeli E1 settlement plan seeks to:

Isolate Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings and cut the geographic and demographic continuity between Jerusalem and the Palestinian communities, thereby undermining the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.   Isolate the northern West Bank from its southern part and turn it into disconnected enclaves subject to the movement restrictions of the occupation authorities.   Expand the borders of East Jerusalem through the annexation of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement bloc.   Expel and displace the Bedouin communities once again from their lands.   Increase the number of Jews in Jerusalem at the expense of the original Palestinian population, especially after removing Palestinian communities such as Kafr ‘Aqab, Anata, and Shu‘fat.

The occupation authorities also seek to displace 46 Bedouin communities in the eastern slopes and the Jordan Valley in order to implement their Judaization and colonial settlement schemes and to empty the eastern borders of Palestinian presence, which cover an area of about one million dunums, said the statement.

Over 20 states condemn Israel’s approval of E1 colonial project in occupied West Bank

RAMALLAH, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

Over 20 states condemned on Thursday the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of the E1 colonial settlement plan in the occupied West Bank.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of 21 countries, as well as the EU, condemned Israel's E1 settlement plan and called for its immediate reversal in the strongest terms.

“The decision by the Israeli Higher Planning Committee to approve plans for settlement construction in the E1 area, East of Jerusalem, is unacceptable and a violation of international law,” the foreign ministers of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom said in a press statement.

They warned that the decision “brings no benefits to the Israeli people. Instead, it risks undermining security and fuels further violence and instability, taking us further away from peace.”

“The Government of Israel still has an opportunity to stop the E1 plan going any further. We encourage them to urgently retract this plan,” they added.

They affirmed that any “unilateral action by the Israeli government undermines our collective desire for security and prosperity in the Middle East.”

They urged the Israeli government to “stop settlement construction in line with UNSC Resolution 2334 and remove their restrictions on the finances of the Palestinian Authority.”

The Israeli occupation authorities have approved the construction of the E1 colonial settlement project in the occupied West Bank, in a move that Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich described as “erasing” a Palestinian state “not with slogans but with actions”.

“The Palestinian state is being erased from the table, not with slogans but with actions. Every settlement, every neighbourhood, every housing unit is another nail in the coffin of this dangerous idea,” Smotrich said.

The new project involves the building of 3,400 new colonial units on occupied Palestinian territory. The majority of them will be built near the existing Maale Adumim colony, in an area that aims to connect colonies in the occupied West Bank with occupied East Jerusalem.

The plan also includes 342 units in a new settlement in Asayil, in the south of the West Bank.

The ministry also reiterated Finland’s call for the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in accordance with international law.

The E1 plan, long condemned by the international community, is widely viewed as a move that would sever the northern and southern parts of the occupied West Bank, undermining the prospect of a contiguous Palestinian state.

UK summons Israeli ambassador over E1 colonial settlement construction plan

LONDON, August 21, 2025 (WAFA) –

The UK summoned on Thursday Israeli ambassador Tzipi Hotovely over Israel’s approval of the E1 colonial settlement construction plan in the occupied West Bank, according to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The FCDO said in a press statement that “Tzipi Hotovely was summoned in response to the Israeli Higher Planning Committee’s decision to approve plans for settlement construction in the E1 area, East of Jerusalem.”

It noted that “the UK and 21 international partners have written to condemn this decision in the strongest terms.”

“If implemented, these settlement plans would be a flagrant breach of international law and would divide a future Palestinian state in two, critically undermining a two-state solution,” it warned.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
