In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful "Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had killed humankind entirely" (The Holy Quran, Al-Ma-ida, 5: 32). "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great torment" (Al-Nisa, 4: 93). "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, (you do it) to yourselves" (Al-Isra, 17: 7). *** While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son). After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD. By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents. No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians. No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since. This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948. The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules. 2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet. 3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel. 4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed. 5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists. The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies. In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain. 6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people. Click here for more about using the apostrophe and the underlining of letters in the transliteration of Arabic names. *** *** One individual killed in Israeli drone strike on civilian vehicle in southern Lebanon BEIRUT, Thursday, June 20, 2024 (WAFA) – One Lebanese citizen was killed this afternoon in an Israeli drone strike targeting a civilian vehicle in the village of Dair Kifa, near the city of Soor (Tyre) in southern Lebanon, this afternoon. Emergency response teams and ambulances have rushed to the scene to provide assistance following the attack. M.N. *** ýNew testimonies of torture in Israeli prisons after the release of 33 detainees from Gaza Thursday 20-June-2024 GAZA, (PIC) Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) released 33 Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning. They arrived in very poor health at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza. Local sources reported that the released prisoners were set free near the Israeli Kissufim military site from where they had to walk hundreds of meters on foot before reaching east of Dair Al-Bala'h. Due to the closure of all crossings in the Strip, the IOFs have been obliging the released prisoners to walk on foot from the security separation fence into the Gaza Strip. Medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Dair El-Bala'h reported that four released prisoners arrived at the hospital this morning, noting that one of them was a truck driver from the northern Gaza Strip and another man was suffering from psychological disorders. Some of them were transferred to other hospitals and the rest headed directly to their homes, the sources added. Among the released prisoners was a young man who was arrested in the West Bank where he was working during the Israeli aggression on Gaza. The released detainees appeared in exhausted bodies with ulcers resulting from the chains with which they were shackled in Israeli jails. One of them, who had visible signs of torture on his body, affirmed that the IOF tied up the prisoners, then assaulted and beat them. *** Shocking testimony conveyed by lawyer about torture against Gaza detainees in Sde Teiman Thursday 20-June-2024 RAMALLAH, (PIC) The Palestinian Lawyer Khalid Mahajna, the first to be granted access to the Israeli Sde Teiman detention camp, revealed that more than a thousand Palestinians from the Gaza Strip are detained in that notorious prison under tragic conditions. Media outlets, including the CNN, reported testimonies about serious violations committed by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in this prison against hundreds of prisoners who were kidnapped from Gaza during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip. Inhumane detention conditions Speaking to Al-Arabi TV, lawyer Mahajna revealed that detainees are not allowed to stand up and are shackled and blindfolded 24 hours a day, even while sleeping. He further explained that the prisoners are held in four barracks, each of which contains 100-150 detainees, adding that they have to sleep on the ground, with no blankets or pillows. The lawyer also affirmed that the detainees are denied the right to perform religious rituals, underling that the violations and abuse practiced in Sde Teiman are not aimed only at extracting confessions about the resistance, but also at taking revenge on the Palestinian people in Gaza. Serious human rights violation Lawyer Mahajna stated that he met the detained journalist Muhammad Arab, who has been isolated in Sde Teiman prison for more than 100 days. The lawyer quoted journalist Arab as saying that “investigators (in Sde Teiman) were members of Israeli special forces, not the intelligence or police forces as usual.” Journalist Muhammad Arab was subjected to investigation twice, the first forty days after his arrest, and the second about a month ago and they were mainly focused on his affiliation to the resistance, the lawyer elaborated. Arab said that he was informed by the investigation judge that he was detained for an unidentified period and his detention was going to be extended by the court, the lawyer said. Lawyer Mahajna warned that Palestinian prisoners do not receive fair trials in Israeli detention centers, pointing out that human rights institutions are completely powerless in the face of Israeli procedures. The lawyer believes that Israel took advantage of the state of emergency to implement all means of abuse against the Palestinian prisoners. He also spoke about sexual assaults and rape inside the prison. At least 6 prisoners have recently been martyred inside the Sde Teiman prison as a result of torture by Israeli jailors, the lawyer underlined. *** Education ministry: 39,000 students in Gaza deprived of sitting for high school final exams Thursday 20-June-2024 RAMALLAH, (PIC) The Ministry of Education said that the ongoing bloody Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for 258 days in a row has deprived about 39,000 students of sitting for high school final examinations, which are scheduled to begin the coming Saturday. The Ministry’s spokesman Sadiq Al-Khadour explained in a press statement on Thursday, that 450 high school students, including 20 students from the West Bank, were martyred this year as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and repetitive raids. Al-Khadour pointed out that 1,320 Palestinian male and female pupils are going to take the high school (Tawjihi) exams in 29 Arab countries, including 1,090 in Egypt. The Ministry of Education has already arranged with Egypt, Russia, Turkey, and Qatar to open school halls for holding the Ministry’s high school exams, while they will be held in the Palestinian embassies in other countries, he elaborated. *** UN Women Representative: Israel's war in Gaza is a 'war on women' GAZA, Thursday, June 20, 2024 (WAFA) — Following a week-long visit to Gaza, Maryse Guimond, the Special Representative of the UN Women Office in Palestine, has described the Israeli war in Gaza as a "war on women," citing the alarming number of female casualties resulting from ongoing Israeli airstrikes. In an interview with UN News via Zoom, Guimond spoke about the "profound impact of the scenes of destruction and displacement" she witnessed, highlighting the "disproportionate effect of the war in Gaza on women, with over 10,000 women killed" since the aggression began. "I returned from Gaza yesterday; this was my first visit to the region since the start of the war. The last time I was there was on October 4," Guimond stated. She continued, "We have been watching the war on television for nine months. We have a team in Gaza and partners we have been in contact with, but I don’t think that gives us the full reality until you find yourself surrounded by the devastation the war has caused from the moment you enter the Strip." Guimond noted that women in Gaza frequently asked her when the war would end and when they could return to their homes, despite many homes being destroyed. She pointed out that "women in Gaza face daily challenges in accessing basic services and bear the additional burden of caring for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, whose numbers have increased due to the war." Guimond also discussed the efforts by UN Women to support women in Gaza and the women-led organizations in Gaza, which she said play a "crucial role in supporting the community and its resilience." Despite the difficult conditions, these organizations continue to provide vital services, including psychosocial support, Guimond added. "It's hard to forget passing through parts of Khan Younus that were affected by the destruction. You see devastation everywhere, people living in some of the ruined buildings, and in the streets trying to get food or water," she said. Guimond spoke about the "vast areas of tents and highly overcrowded temporary shelters," noting that "the Gaza Strip covers 365 square kilometers and is home to more than 2.2 million people, now witnessing displacement to an even smaller area than ever before." She confirmed that "entire families have been wiped out in some Israeli airstrikes, and everyone I met had extremely harrowing stories." "While wars clearly affect all members of society, we have rarely seen this level of killing and injuring of women," Guimond concluded. M.N. *** Over 136,000 martyrs in Palestine since 1948, says PCBS on World Refugee Day RAMALLAH, Thursday, June 20, 2024 (WAFA) — In a report released this morning on World Refugee Day, Dr. Ola Awad, President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), revealed that 136,000 individuals have been killed by the Israeli occupation forces. Since the Nakba in 1948, according to the report, the Palestinian and Arab communities have suffered the loss of over 136,000 martyrs both inside and outside Palestine. The Al-Aqsa Intifada, beginning on September 29th, 2000, claimed about 46,500 lives until April 30th, 2024. The Israeli occupation aggression against the Gaza Strip, which started on October 7th, 2023, has resulted in over 37,500 martyrs, including more than 15,162 children and 10,018 women, along with 147 journalists. In addition, more than 7,000 citizens, primarily women and children, are missing in Gaza. The West Bank has seen 532 martyrs since October 7th, 2023. Furthermore, the ongoing Israeli war has displaced approximately 2 million citizens from their homes in the Gaza Strip. Refugee crisis UNRWA records as of January 2022 show that there are about 5.9 million registered Palestinian refugees, comprising over 40% of the global Palestinian population, which totals around 14.6 million. Of these, 2.5 million reside in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Palestinian refugees account for 15% of the West Bank's population and 27% of Gaza Strip's population. In Arab countries, 40% of Palestinian refugees are in Jordan, 8% in Lebanon, and 10% in Syria. These figures represent the minimum number of refugees, excluding those displaced post-1949 and during the June 1967 war. Harsh living conditions The 2017 data indicate that refugees make up 42.2% of the population in the State of Palestine, with 26.3% in the West Bank and a staggering 66.1% in the Gaza Strip. The demographic and social characteristics between refugees and non-refugees show minimal differences. The illiteracy rate among refugees in the West Bank is 1.9% compared to 2.3% for non-refugees, and 1.7% among refugees in the Gaza Strip versus 2.0% for non-refugees. Unemployment remains a critical issue, with 2022 rates reaching 47% among refugees and 42% among non-refugees in the Gaza Strip, compared to 14% and 13%, respectively, in the West Bank.
