On Day 80 of the US-Backed Israeli Genocidal War on Gaza, More Death, Destruction, Starvation and Thirst, with 20,539 Palestinians Killed

December 25, 2023

***

Editor's Notes:

Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip:

By December 25, 2023, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 27,539+.

This includes the accounted for deaths (20,539) and those who are still missing under the rubble (Corrected on December 23, 2023: 7,000+).

By December 24, 2023, the documented injuries exceeded 54,072, and more than 2,600 civilians have been abducted from Gaza Strip.

By December 25, 2023, there were 304 Palestinians who were killed, 3,500 who were injured, and 4,715, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023.

***

By December 24, 2023, the death toll included 8,200+ children and 6,200+ women.

By December 24 2023,  there was a complete destruction of 55,000+ housing units, and a partial destruction of 258,000+ housing units (60% of Gaza housing units). This forced about 1.5 million people to become homeless, taking refuge in crowded UN schools and ultimately sleeping in the streets.

The Israeli refusal to allow international aid caravans to enter Gaza freely led the Palestinian population to be on the verge of mass extermination for the lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel.

By December 21, 2023, 99 health personnel were killed and hundreds were injured, 102 ambulances were destroyed while on duty, killing and injuring their crews, and destroyed 56 health institutions. As a result of the strikes and lack of fuel, 23 hospitals and 53 primary care centers are not functioning.

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.

Pregnant and lactating women in Gaza are starving and unable to feed their newborns - ActionAid

GAZA, Monday, December 25, 2023 (WAFA) -

In the midst of Gaza’s spiraling food crisis, tens of thousands of pregnant women are going desperately hungry, while mothers are so malnourished, they are unable to breastfeed their newborn babies, today said ActionAid Palestine.

According to the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, 71% of Gaza’s population is now suffering from acute hunger, while 98% of people do not have enough to eat. The organization, Human Rights Watch, has stated that the Israeli government is using starvation as a weapon of war, with devastating effects on Gaza’s population, said ActionAid in a report.

The impact on pregnant women, mothers and their young children is severe. According to recent UN data, there are more than 50,000 pregnant and 68,000 lactating women in Gaza in need of immediate lifesaving, preventative or curative nutrition interventions. In total, 7,685 children under five are suffering from life-threatening wasting – leaving them vulnerable to developmental delays, disease and in severe cases death – while more than 4,000 are classed as ‘severely wasting’ and in need of life-saving treatment.

On average, there is now just 1.5 liters of water per person in Gaza per day to cover all their needs, from drinking to bathing and cleaning. Yet, in addition to the minimum of 15 liters of water per day per person required for basic survival, pregnant and lactating women need another 7.5 liters of safe water a day to keep themselves and their babies healthy.

Khitam, a mother to five children including a newborn baby, who is currently sheltering in a school in Dair El-Bala'h, told ActionAid she had nothing to feed her children. In a video message, she said: “There is no water and no food to eat. My little girl has a rash on her skin due to the lack of cleanliness here. Our situation is very difficult. How do you drink water? Is it enough for you and the baby? Of course not! There is no water to drink. There is no clean water. We barely quench our thirst. I [also] have four [other] children who have been wanting to eat since the morning but there is no bread."

Khitam was forced to flee her home due to a bombing just two days after giving birth and ran while carrying her baby in her arms. She said: "When the order to evacuate houses was issued...I had given birth just two days earlier. I was postpartum and tired. I had just been discharged from the hospital and [was still] bleeding. I was carrying my daughter and running. We were walking under missiles and shelling, sitting for a while to rest on the pavement and in the streets.”

People are queuing for hours in the hope of receiving food aid for their families, but either return empty-handed or with barely enough to keep them alive, said ActionAid. Inaya, who is staying in a camp in southern Gaza with her family after her home was destroyed by bombing, said: “For eight people, we are given three boxes of cheese with a couple of fava bean cans to last us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”

While the scale of need in Gaza is staggering, the amount of aid entering the territory continues to be wholly inadequate. On average, just 100 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies are currently crossing the border at Rafa'h each day. A second border crossing, Karm Abu Salim (Kerem Shalom), opened last week but on the following day, only 79 trucks entered. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the 500 trucks of aid and other supplies which, before October 7, entered Gaza every single day.

Riham Ja'fari, Advocacy and Communications Coordinator at ActionAid Palestine, says: “We are running out of words to describe the depth of the horror of what people in Gaza are having to endure. An entire population is going hungry, but pregnant and lactating women and their children are suffering the most. The stories we are hearing are harrowing.

“Mothers are being forced to watch helplessly as their children scream and cry with hunger, while they are utterly powerless to do anything. One mother who was so deprived of food and water that she was unable to breastfeed told us of her horror at her baby slowly turning yellow from malnourishment.

“Terrifyingly, things could get worse. There is no time to waste. Each day hundreds of people in Gaza are already dying from the bombing – soon hundreds will also die from hunger and disease. Only an immediate and permanent ceasefire will prevent more entirely unnecessary deaths and allow food, fuel, medicine and other humanitarian aid on the enormous scale required to enter Gaza.”

UNRWA: 142 of our employees killed in Gaza since October 7

Monday 25-December-2023, GAZA, (PIC)

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that 142 of its employees have been killed in the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip since October 7.

The UN agency said in a statement, on X on Sunday, that most of the victims were killed along with their families in the besieged Strip.

“In this somber moment, it’s hard to wish those celebrating ‘Merry Christmas’ with the ongoing loss, grief and destruction,” the UNRWA added.

For 79 days in a row, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip, with American and European support, killing at least 20,424 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 54,036 others, according to health authorities in the enclave.

The Israeli onslaught has left Gaza in ruins with half of the coastal territory’s housing stock damaged or destroyed, and nearly 2 million people displaced amid blocked entry of food, water, medicine and fuel.

Euro-Med sends file of field executions in Gaza to UN and ICC officials

Monday 25-December-2023, GENEVA, (PIC)

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said it had documented dozens of field execution incidents that happened to Palestinian civilians at the hands of Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip and sent a preliminary file in this regard to top international legal officials.

This preliminary file was submitted to Morris Tidball-Binz, UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary, or arbitrary executions, Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Navanethem Pillay, head of the UN commission of inquiry in the occupied Palestinian territories, and Karim Khan, prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Euro-Med urged the aforementioned UN and ICC officials to state their positions on the mass killing operations that are carried out by the Israeli army and its forces against Palestinian civilians in Gaza in general, and field executions or physical liquidations of individuals in particular.

Euro-Med called for announcing the formation of an international legal team and pressuring for its access to the Gaza Strip in order to investigate the killing incidents mentioned in the file.

Euro-Med also urged the officials to take serious action for a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure an end to the ongoing killings of civilians with no military necessity as a prelude to launching a comprehensive criminal investigation into all the atrocities that happened in order to achieve accountability and justice.

UN: Two women killed each hour in Gaza

Monday 25-December-2023, GAZA, (PIC)

UN Women revealed on Sunday that two mothers are killed every hour in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.

“According to UN Women’s estimates, two mothers are killed every hour in Gaza,” the UN entity said in a statement on X, adding that “Children are losing their only safety line—their parents. This needs to stop.”

UN Women called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Along the same line, the UN estimated that there are 50,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip, with over 180 giving birth every day.

Doctors and midwives are doing everything possible to provide care for post-natal and high-risk pregnant women at 7 out of 22 operational UNRWA health centers, it added.

US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza enters Day 80

Monday 25-December-2023, GAZA, (PIC)

As the US-backed Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip entered Day 80 on Monday, massive aerial and artillery strikes continued to pound and level whole blocks and homes and massacre more civilians, mostly children and women.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli occupation army continued to attack different areas of Gaza last night and on Monday morning, targeting homes, civilian gatherings and shelter centers, and massacring dozens of citizens.

According to local sources, Israeli warplanes bombed last night a block of houses in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, killing at least 70 Palestinians and injuring more, mostly children and women.

People have been digging through the rubble of destroyed homes in the bombed area of Al-Maghazi since last night in the hope of finding survivors and victims.

Four martyrs and a number of wounded citizens were evacuated to Nasir Hospital from Khan Younus following intensive Israeli attacks, while reporters said in the morning that the attacks on Khan Younus did not stop.

Israeli warplanes have also been bombing Al-Buraij refugee camp in central Gaza since last night, as well as Al-Sikka street between Al-Maghazi camp and Al-Buraij camp.

33 civilians, including children and women, were also martyred and others were injured when the Israeli occupation army bombed a house belonging to the family of Salah in the Ma’an area, east of Khan Younus last night. 10 others are still buried under the rubble of the house, according to local and medical sources.

One civilian was reportedly killed during an Israeli artillery attack on Sufa area in the east of Rafa'h, south of Gaza.

Israeli warplanes also carried out more than 50 consecutive airstrikes early Monday, including a series of belts of fire on the Al-Nusayrat, Al-Buraij, and Al-Maghazi refugee camps.

Dozens massacred in Israeli strikes on refugee camp in central Gaza

Monday 25-December-2023, GAZA, (PIC)

Israeli airstrikes on Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza has massacred at least 70 people, mostly women and children, Palestinian health officials have said, while warning that the toll is likely to rise as the strikes that began hours before midnight continued into the dawn of Monday.

Medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital affirmed it received bodies of 70 martyrs as a result of the Israeli attacks that targeted the refugee camp last night. The sources added that a number of wounded civilians were brought to the hospital, including ones in critical condition.

Israeli warplanes also carried out more than 50 consecutive airstrikes early Monday, including a series of belts of fire on the al-Nusayrat, Al-Buraij, and Al-Maghazi refugee camps.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza Ashraf Al-Qidra described what happened at al-Maghazi as “a massacre that was committed against a crowded residential square.”

Al-Qidra added that the Israeli occupation forces were shelling the main roads between the camps in central Gaza to hinder the arrival of ambulances and civil defense crews to the bombed areas.

For its part, the government media office said that the Israeli occupation army committed a heinous massacre in Al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza, where it bombed three homes belonging to the families of Musallam, Sisalim and Al-Nawasra.

The media office appealed to the free world to stop Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza’s civilians, children and women.

Dozens of civilians killed and injured in the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza

GAZA, Monday, December 25, 2023 (WAFA) –

Dozens of civilians were killed and injured, mostly children and women, in the ongoing Israeli airstrikes that targeted different areas in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Several people were killed and injured in Israeli strikes targeting the vicinity of the European hospital, east of Khan Younus, in the southern Strip, and a house in the Nusayrat refugee camp, in southern Gaza City.

Israeli jets also shelled the eastern areas in Dair El-Bala'h, and the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, in the central Strip.

Israeli warplanes and artillery also shelled al-Sekka St. between the refugee camps of Nusayrat  and Al-Buraij, in the central Strip, in an attempt to severe communications between Palestinian refugee camps in the Strip.

Eyewitnesses in the Al-Shaikh Radhwan neighborhood in Gaza City affirmed that Israeli soldiers assassinated several youths and dumped their bodies in the streets. Ambulances were unable to retrieve their bodies.

Also in the said neighborhood, local sources affirmed the killing of the Member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Ayman Na’eem Al-Maghoun, in an Israeli airstrike.

In the northern Strip, Israeli forces raided the ambulance center in Jabalya and forced the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) staff to evacuate the center. Forces further destroyed the center’s ambulances.

Sources said that 21 injured people were evacuated from the Baptist hospital and 13 other wounded and displaced persons were evacuated from Al-Shifa Medical Complex to hospitals in the southern Strip.

Israeli artillery and warplanes also shelled the Bani Suhayla area and the town of Khuza'a in Khan Younus city, in the southern Strip, killing and injuring scores of civilians.

On Day 80 of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, the bombardment continues claiming the lives of dozens

GAZA, Monday, December 25, 2023 (WAFA) -

On the 80th day of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces today continued their bombardment on several areas in the Strip, mainly in the center and south, which led to the death and injury of dozens of people, the majority of whom were children and women.

The Israeli bombardment continued following a bloody night after a massacre in Al-Maghazi and Al-Buraij refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of about 95 people, as warplanes and artillery bombed an entire residential square.

The medical director of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Khaleel Al-Diqran, said the hospital is full of wounded and dead piled up on the floor, in the corridors and tents.

He said the hospital tried to deal with the injured and save their lives as much as possible because there were not many medicines and medical equipment, the intensive care rooms were full and the respirators were no longer enough. “We need medicines, medical teams, and field hospitals. This closure is a death sentence for the wounded and injured,” he said.

He pointed out that infectious diseases began to spread among the displaced people who were filling the hospital's courtyards to escape the Israeli bombing, and infectious, intestinal, and skin diseases spread widely among them and there were no medicines or beds for them.

In addition, occupation artillery bombed agricultural land near the entrance to the town of Al-Zawayida in the central Gaza Strip, and also bombed the vicinity of Abu Helou schools in Al-Buraij, coinciding with the firing of smoke bombs in the area.

The occupation warplanes targeted agricultural land at the entrance to Al-Nusayrat camp while witnesses said the occupation artillery bombed the town of Jabalya, causing fires to break out in several locations.

The occupation warplanes launched a series of raids on Khan Younus Governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, specifically in the eastern region.

At dawn today, 23 people were killed and dozens were injured after the Israeli occupation warplanes bombed two homes in the Ma’an area, east of Khan Younus.

The Red Crescent Society in Gaza reported that there were more than 8,000 reports of missing persons under the rubble in various areas of the Strip.

The ongoing Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since the 7th of last October has resulted in the death of 20,424 people and the wounding of about 54,036 citizens, more than 70% of whom are women and children.

Killing and Injuring of Palestinians in the West Bank by Israeli Occupation Regime Forces

Woman injured as the Israeli occupation forces continue their military raid of Burqa village in Nablus

NABLUS, Monday, December 25, 2023 (WAFA) –

A Palestinian woman sustained bruises this evening after being physically assaulted by Israeli occupation forces during their ongoing military raid of the town of Burqa, northwest of Nablus.

The head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Emergency and Ambulance Department in Nablus, A'hmed Jibril, said ambulance crews transported a 43-year-old woman to a hospital after she was attacked and beaten up by the occupation soldiers.

The Israeli occupation forces continued tonight their military raid of the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, and the closure of all its entrances since the early dawn hours today.

Large military forces, accompanied by bulldozers, stormed the Burqa village in the predawn hours today, cordoned off the village, blocked all its entrances, and banned residents’ movement.

Local sources said Israeli soldiers raided several houses, briefly held and interrogated their inhabitants, and turned them into military outposts.

Israeli military forces reportedly patrolled the streets and alleys in the village, amid the firing of stun grenades toward residents’ homes.

The Israeli occupation forces also hung up flyers on the walls of homes, threatening residents that they would do to their village what they did to Gaza.

The Israeli occupation forces have recently intensified their military incursions into the said village, blocking its western entrance since a few months ago and banning residents’ access, forcing them to take longer alternative routes to reach their destination.

Israel occupation forces Palestinian to demolish his own house in Al-Quds (Jerusalem)

Al-Quds (Jerusalem), Monday, December 25, 2023 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation forces forced a Jerusalemite citizen near the French Hill in Shu'afat to demolish his own house.

Hashim Saba'h, the owner, told Wafa that his house has been targeted by the occupation since 1982, as it is the only house in the area, and part of the land has been seized.

"My family consists of eight people, and I expanded the house in 2012 on our land, and paid a large fine, but today the occupation forced us to self-demolish the house (expansion) to avoid new fines and exorbitant demolition costs, if the occupation mechanisms demolish it," he said.
