Palestinian-American Family Ensnared in Israeli Death Trap By Genevieve Cora Fraser July 26, 2004
Entwined as a ball Of thread the family Clung and enveloped One another in love In terror in their last Moments together Living a vision of hell Israeli style slaughter Of the innocents A home invasion In Satanic blackness Streaked with missile Strike lightning Bullets flashed past As laser rays searched Red darting as a snake Tongue slips in and out Sniper swift attacks In the dark breathing Life’s ebb and flow Missiles slammed Into walls, beds, bookcases Past the bodies hovered In the room sweating Out the moments As the loudspeaker Announced Israeli Intentions to blow up The house with moments To exit unraveled the father A professor a man of peace Faced the swarm of malevolent Tanks, troops, helicopters Hovering IDF snipers assailed Unable to unlock twisted metal In the door the professor Begged at a window For their lives shot Just below the head he fell Dead cradled in his wife’s Arms the threads of life Streamed red extended Spread to the face of their boy Torn cheek to jowl gurgled Death as the woman screamed For help the soldiers laughed Mocking echoes of Nazi Death Chambers of the past Now alive Israeli style Dedicated to the memory of Palestinian American Dr. Kahled Salah and his 16-year old son, Mohammed, who were murdered in cold blood in their Nablus home by Israeli soldiers. May his wife Salam, and their surviving children find the strength to carry on and bear witness to the extreme sadism and criminality of Israeli state terrorism.
