Palestine under Siege SOS Please

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

 March 15, 2004

He had just left school

In the old city neighborhood

In Jerusalem an Israeli

Settler drove his car

Over this youth

Death hovered a week

Then settled

She, a Hebron

Senselessly beaten

Battered beauty

Beneath the settlers

Fists as IDF soldiers

Watched on unconcerned

Executions against the Wall

Live fire on peaceful protests

Dead are the dreams of peaceful means

When the world reaction is to yawn

The Fourth Geneva

Convention of 1949

Please reconvene

Take effective means

Grave breaches

Conditions

Deteriorate

Starvation, thirst, disease

Continued siege

My God why

Have you forsaken us

To the brutality of Thine own?

Earth, a planet hungry for peace
