Golden Heart

By Manal Ramadan

May 26, 2004

Allah saw you tired

In your days of misery,

He put his arms around you

And took you away from me.

I watched you suffer,

As your life slowly went away,

Although I loved you dearly I knew you couldn’t stay.

I sat by your side,

Trying hard not to cry,

Watching you with teary eyes,

Not ready to say goodbye

Life was hard for you,

It’s never what anyone expects;

Your golden heart stopped beating, As you were put to rest.

The hills were hard to climb. And the roads were getting rough.

Allah closed your weary eyes

And whispered "You’ve had enough."

Now you’re in a better place

Where you will suffer no more.

Soon they will all find out

The truth behind closed doors.

Dedicated to those who have lost a loved one during the war in our beloved Palestine. God bless the Martyrs.
