Is He Hellbent on Unleashing Hell on Earth?

By Steve Moyer

Al-Jazeerah, September 27, 2006

As a politician, I find your comments chilling to say the least. Politicians generally want to present an "upbeat, positive message" to the people. Your message here sounds like a portent of the end of humanity. Is that what you meant to say?

Could all of this be for the sake of political power for the Republicans? Could it be that simple? Could it be that the Republicans are skillfully manipulating our perception of reality based on our fears, passions, prejudices and prophecies? Are we perhaps "political putty" in their hands?

Sometimes we overlook the obvious in favor of the outrageous. Tim Russert gave Cheney a forum to scare us into voting Republican in the coming election. That's honestly how I see it. Russert has repeatedly demonstrated his Republican bias on Meet the Press. He's a "Republican cheerleader" as far as I'm concerned.

Do you remember all the fuss about a potential nuclear war with Iran? Where is that now? The price of oil has dropped 20 percent in the last two months while Bush's approval rating has jumped over 10 percent. Why? Is it because the truth is coming out at last, that there never was a serious plan to use nukes on Iran and Bush isn't really the "devil" he's been portrayed to be by his opponents. Everyone is simply playing their part so that we continue to vote Republicans into Congress. You are playing your part by sounding so outrageous in your opposition to Bush.

The Republican party seems much better behaved nowadays, even to the extent that they are publicly proclaiming their support for the Geneva convention. I think we are being played, my friend, and that the "war" is in our mind, a war to win support for the Republicans so they can maintain power.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the best one.

Blessings!
