Investigating The French Role in Tutsis Genocide By Ali Al-Hail Al-Jazeerah, October 29, 2006 Although the minority socialists at the lower house of the French
Assembly National for purportedly, wrong reasons proposed a law
criminalizing any denial to the 1915-1923 Armenian genocides in Turkey, the
Armenian genocides, despite controversy was absolutely, unjustified.
However, the contempt with the French minority socialists is that, they had
disgracefully, traded with the Armenian genocides for apparently, Armenian
votes. Only recently, the observed French role suspected by the international tribunal for Rwanda Tutsis genocides by Hutus in Cyangugu and Kibuye provinces, southwest of Rwanda and elsewhere, in April and May 1994, hadn’t triggered the minds of the French minority socialists at the French Assembly National (BBC Online May 7, 2004). The tribunal has for the last 6 months been gathering facts suspecting conceivably, the French peace keeping force’s role in Rwanda, since Rwanda was a former French colony with assisting the Hulu militia which was from Hutu against the Tutsis. The French were said by the tribunal to apart from doing nothing to stop the genocide, have actually trained the Hulu militia, and supplied them with necessary weapons. According to the BBC News World Service television (October 24th, 2006) 50,000 Tutsis were particularly, lured by the French to be butchered by the Hutu. During the French colonial rule in Rwanda Tutsis presumably, were not satisfied with the French as were the Hutu. This historical backdrop could well explain the French attitude towards Tutsis (BBC News, World Service TV, October 24, 2006). 800,000 Tutsis were butchered in only, three (3) months by Hutu in 1994. More than 2 million Tutsis had fled into Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The French during the genocide stayed aloof, above and beyond of course, the French had long favored the Hutu as previously, stated according to the International tribunal for Rwanda. The tribunal at current time investigates the French probe, and heads are expected to row over the 1994 French-linked Tutsis genocide. According to the BBC, the French were reported by the tribunal to have participated in the Tutsis genocide by training the Hutu-Hulu militia, and guiding them to Tutsis whereabouts, where they Hutu massacred Tutsis in with sticks, clubs, and machetes in unprecedented display of human hatred. Unfortunately, a Rwandan editor of the Paris-based African International Magazine defended her French masters over the genocide, despite Rwandan survivors who had testified that, the French were complacent, while the Hutu were massacring the Tutsis. If the French were to be indicted, would the French minority socialists would propose a law to the Assembly National legalizing financially, compensating the 800,000 massacred peoples’ relatives for their forces’ immoral conduct in Rwanda? A big question? Nonetheless, the French until this moment had never apologized to the Algerians for the 132 years of harsh colonial rule, marked with numerous genocides. Out of all however, was the May 8 1945 genocide at Setif city where more than 45,000 Algerians were butchered by the French. As it is the case, one wonders whether the French would positively, react to an indicting outcome from the international tribunal for Rwanda’s investigation into the French role in the Tutsis genocide.
