The US Invasion and Occupation of Iraq Wasn't Worth It After All, PART III: Time for Reckoning

By Ali Al-Hail

Al-Jazeerah, October 23, 2006

It took the neocons 3 years, and a half, to have their moment of reckoning. After Donald Rumsfeld’s reckoning that, his occupation forces weren’t capable any longer of handling security in Iraq, came the neocons’ propagandist Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs with his reckoning moment.

On Al Jazeera TV on Saturday, he had bitterly, reckoned that, the U.S. showed "arrogance" and "stupidity" in Iraq. Additionally, Fernandez, who brokenly, speaks Arabic said, U.S. was willing to deal with any Iraqi insurgency except al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

The Associated Press (AP) described Fernandez’ offer as an unusually candid assessment of the security situation. Many argue that, this statement, and the Rumsfeld’s, which preceded it are a desperate attempt by neocons’ to withdraw from Iraq in a dignified way.

These public proclamations apparently, reflect neocons’ total failure in Iraq, despite vested interests, concealing, confusion and withheld of information.

What hurt the neocons most that, this month of October had been the deadliest, and the bloodiest month for their forces. At the time of Writing 79 American soldiers, and marines were killed by fierce, and determined Iraqi National resistance only, in the past 22 days of this month of October.

Media reliable reports talk of many more who had been either wounded, maimed, or psychologically, and mentally, suffered from an Iraqi syndrome. The neocons have been perceived by many observers as being manipulators of the role of their corporate media.

The corporate media has consistently, been brainwashing American taxpayers that, American forces were in charge, and defeating the insurgency. As such, the presence of American forces in Iraq is vitally, crucial for security, as security is an important tool for sustaining democracy that, has been installed because of the invasion, and the occupation.

The last 22 days so far, of October have strikingly, been a turning point in neocons’ “arrogance”, and “stupidity” that, hadn’t been reckoned over the past 3 years and a half. However, to be too late to confess that, you were wrong, better than not to confess at all that, you were actually, so wrong.
