The US Invasion and Occupation of Iraq Wasn't Worth It After All, PART II: Security Crisis

By Ali Al-Hail

Al-Jazeerah, October 22, 2006

Tonight, I have remembered Albert Einstein as news flew that, Donald Rumsfeld, the neocons’ Defense Secretary had on Friday announced according to AP that, Iraqi government “must takeover security, sooner rather than later”. Here, where Einstein came up to mind. Einstein said nearly, 86 years ago that, those persons who have started generating problems must depart. Their departure is vitally, necessary in order to pave the path for new persons, to solve out those problems. According to Albert Einstein the people who had caused the problems, cannot have the incentive to have them resolved. Believe it or not, Rumsfeld, whether he heard, or heard not about Einstein’s wisdom, in a time of foolishness had surprisingly, reinforced Einstein’s philosophy. The neocons, as many argue, created the security problems in Iraq, when they invaded, and occupied Iraq since march 20th, 2003. Hence, the invasion, and the occupation had been arguably, since then, triggering numerous and profound security problems. Prior to the invasion, and the occupation perceivably, there were, hardly ever any such security problems of this recurrent scale, as they are now. Explosive cars, suicidal bombings, sectarian violence, bodies found tortured, and shot in the head, or strangled, refugees, kidnappings, rape, and threat of almost entirely, every single sort, are merely, glimpses of a colossal security crisis.

During Saddam’s days, life was running as normal as it could be, despite neocons, and EU sanctions under the banner of the UN. There no doubt, was a dictatorship in place under which Iraqis used to carryout their living on a daily basis.

So what? Almost certainly, so did all Arabs. So do they now, and so will they for years to come as it appears.

During the last 21 days of the month of October alone, 76 American soldiers, and marines who were reported to have been killed, and many more who had been either injured, or maimed, or psychologically, disturbed. According to the BBC which had expressively, described the month of October as the “bloodiest month” for the neocons’ presence in Iraq, since 2004 (BBC World Service TV, October 21st , 2006).

Therefore, Rumsfeld the neocons’ defense Secretary has apparently, come to terms with the fact that, despite all operations, and all measures carried out over the past 3 years, and a half his ‘security forces’ had drastically, failed to curb the security crisis that, was created by his army in the first place.

As a result, the one million dollar question; arises once more again: Is it really, worth it after all???
