Jailors Jubilee as Israel Triumphs
a Poem
By Genevieve Cora Fraser
Al-Jazeerah, May 28, 2006
Palestine Raw as nerves Exhales as Hamas Withdraws its militants Off Gaza streets In a show of solidarity Palestinians Up against the Wall Brace for another Twist of Fate Slated for execution By Western Powers Plotting their downfall Banks closed to charity Borders closed by hate Palestine ancient and profound Has evolved in stages Through Wisdom’s Gate Conquered and mandated From pagan To Hebrew, Christian To Islam born anew A ladder to the stars Under which vast humanity Dwells up against the Wall Cast into Hell Vestiges of civilization Under virulent attack Bent on Power’s Supremacy No clemency Hearts of stone As the Olive Tree Grows nurtured By rivulets of blood So the Battle goes Eternally Pitting hatred Against love Fascism on the rise As Democracies fall The line in the sand Is Palestine Israel the jailor Has come to call
