I am Disgusted by America's Policy in Syria and its Inability to Work with Turkiye

By Kristen D Scott

Al-Jazeerah, CCUN, May 18, 2017

Honor guards carry the coffin of a Turkish army officer killed during clashes with PKK militants near the Iraqi border, in the capital, Ankara, October 18, 2015

I am disgusted by America's policy in Syria and its inability to work with Turkiye.

So, let me get this straight:  it is okay to arm other countries' terrorists, like the PKK (which according to the BBC has Marxist-Leninist roots) and yet, ban any nationality that has terrorist ties from entering your own borders?

The PKK is a terrorist organization, which is recognized as such by the United Nations and even by the United States. How is one terrorist group going to wipe out the other one?

They will not. Instead, the PKK will use the money and weapons funded by America to attack Turkiye! This is what the PKK has been doing for years now. Furthermore, this plan was implemented by President Obama and is now sanctioned by Trump too.

America needs Turkiye, as it is the only safe bridge to the Middle East. Also, America needs Turkiye's military bases.

Tell me how this is going to work any better than Carter and Reagan funding Al Qaeda to rid Afghanistan of Taliban control? It will not.

It will create a massive empowered PKK party that will use American funds to kill Turks. It will also enable them to unseat ISIS and become the new and more equipped ISIS in Syria.

"Under Carter’s successor, Ronald Reagan, U.S. aid nearly quintupled: about three billion dollars in economic assistance and two billion in military aid. The Reagan Administration also provided three billion dollars to Afghan jihadis" (The New Yorker). This gave Afghanistan the power to eventually build a terrorist network that ended with Bin Laden and Al Qaeda morphing into ISIS. Of course, with the left over, wasted billions of United States military weapons and machinery. . . hey, let's go to Syria!!!

America must learn from the foreign policy mistakes of our past. These mistakes have led to the creation of US enemies such as Saddam Hussein, Manuel Noriega, and Osama Bin Laden.

The enemy of our enemy is not always our friend. As America gives aid to PKK rebels, they are creating another ISIS that will attack Turkiye and wind up hating the United States. The PKK has killed over 2,400 known people in Turkiye, as quoted by the International Crisis Group. This in no way can account for all lost life.

Between killing Turkish military officers on patrol, civilians with car bombs, and even assassinating a Russian ambassador last summer, the PKK is a dangerous terrorist organization that the USA, who stands as a beacon of anti-terror is funding.

Furthermore, last summer there was a failed military coup attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by radical Islamist teacher and educator Fethullah Gülen. Feto is the think tank of largest charter school network in America, living in Philadelphia.

Yes, America is playing host to a radical who is planning your children’s educations. President Erdoğan has unsuccessfully bargained for Fethullah’s extradition with former President Obama and now with Trump.

A friend once told me that doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results is the definition of insanity.

America, when will you learn? This can only end in devastation and the loss of a powerful ally in Turkiye.
