Dear Friends: Below is a letter Canada Palestine Association sent to
the CEO and President of Canadian Tire regarding their carrying Israeli
products, including those from illegal settlements. CPA is calling on
supporters and friends to boycott all Canadian Tire outlets and to cancel
their Canadian Tire credit cards. Please go to this
link at the CJPME website and add your voice to telling Canadian Tire
officials that we will not engage in “business as usual” with such
unethical practices. Thanks. Hanna
We are part of the international
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement against Israel and will now
call immediately for a general boycott of all Canadian Tire outlets,
including asking people to cancel their Canadian Tire Credit Cards.
Additionally, we will ask our supporters on the
Voice of Palestine on a
weekly basis to do the same.
This boycott will continue until you stop carrying all Israeli
products.

Helping Hand of PCRF
The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) will hold its annual
banquet/fundraiser, titled: "Helping Hands", on September 24th at the
Anaheim Hilton Hotel in Anaheim, Ca. The event will begin at 6:00 pm.
The PCRF is proud to announce that our keynote speaker will be Diana Buttu,
a Canadian Palestinian attorney. Ms Buttu is internationally known and
respected in her field. She has won the admiration and respect of people
on both sides of political negotiations. Ms Buttu was a spokesperson for
the PLO and has been cited for her work as a legal advisor and negotiator
on peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
She is a sought after speaker and has appeared on numerous television news
programs.
Ms Buttu will address the
matter of Palestinian statehood, a subject that will be in the forefront
of the news since her appearance coincides with the presentation of that
issue to the United Nations. She is an activist intimately familiar with
the issue of Palestine and articulate in its presentation.
In addition, there will be video presentations, awards, Middle Eastern
entertainment, and an excellent dinner.
The PCRF is an internationally known and acclaimed children's charity that
treats seriously ill or disabled children in the Middle East at no cost to
their families. Their work and its corollary projects may be seen at their
web site: www.pcrf.net.
People who attend will come away with an insight into the history of
Palestine that is rarely discussed in the mainstream media. Given the
timeliness of Palestinian statehood, they might also come away with a
glimpse of the future.
For tickets,
please call: (562)432-0005 or fax: (562) 684-0828. Tickets are $100 per
person with table sponsorships available.
In this installment of Palestine Studies TV,
we discussed the demonstrations taking place in Israeli towns
and cities, as well as settlements, calling for lower housing
and living costs. Some question the absence of
the Palestinian issue in these "social justice" actions.
Max Blumenthal, an
award-winning journalist and bestselling author, spoke about
the protests, their aims and obstacles, and how the Israeli
occupation figures in.
The Institute has produced authoritative studies on
Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict since 1963.
Its flagship Journal of Palestine Studies is published by the

In
August 2009, Palestinian Prime
Minister Salam Fayyad outlined
an ambitious two-year
state-building plan that would
pave the way for the
Palestinian Authority’s
unilateral declaration of
statehood before the U.N.
General Assembly this
September. But as Fayyad’s
plan comes due for completion,
the future of Palestinian
governance remains uncertain.
The Fatah and Hamas factions
have yet to implement the
terms of a troubled
reconciliation agreement
signed in May, complicating
the prospects for forming a
unity government and
conducting elections that have
already been repeatedly
postponed.
Dr.
Zomlot and other members of
the delegation will discuss
the internal political
situation and the implications
for Palestinian statehood and
governance.
