Israeli War Criminals Still at Large

Gaza During the Israeli criminal war against humanity, January 2009.

Israeli war criminals are still at large ... The ICC doesn't know about them!

The living hell that the Israelis created, torturing and murdering innocent Palestinian babies with made-in-America bombs.

Use WikiLeaks to Flood Congress Today!

Not since the Pentagon Papers have the inner workings of war been exposed to the public in such an explosive fashion as with the WikiLeaks' revelations on the Afghan war. Last night we talked to Daniel Ellsberg, who made public the Pentagon Papers that helped end the war in Vietnam. He said:

"Wikileaks has given us a picture of the this war that shows a total replay, as in Vietnam, of a corrupt, incompetent set of allies whose main merit is a willingness to be paid by Congress and be supported by the drug trade. We are clearly mired in an escalating stalemate. The troop increase Obama has requested will make no difference.

I admire the courage of Bradley Manning for sacrificing himself to make the public aware of the futility of this war. Let us make sure his sacrifice is not in vain by using these revelations to force Congress to stop funding this war."

The "leak" comes precisely during the week that Congress will be voting on another $33 billion for war. Thanks to your calls, Congressional visits and determination this past month, the Administration has not been able to get the quick vote on the war funding they requested. Your efforts have had an impact; now we have to open the floodgates of opposition and drown the funding that would send more of our soldiers to die in vain.

To fuel your passion for these calls, here's the link to the section on civilian casualties, including incidents like the gunner at a roadblock who killed a 14-year-old girl and wounded a toddler or the Marine air strike that left seven children dead. You can also read our WikiLeak talking points here!

Call 888-493-5443 now. Tell your Congressperson that the WikiLeaks' documents confirm that this war is immoral and unwinnable.

Whether we succeed in blocking the war funding or not, we'll be able to clearly identify Congressional war enablers and war opponents, so we can punish and reward them when they're home for August and at the polls in November.

Thank you for turning this leak into a tsunami of anti-war pressure,

Code Pink,

Bonnie, Dana, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Joan, Jodie, Medea, Nancy, Rae, and Victoria

Facebook prohibits the word "Palestinian"

Imagine the uproar if facebook was blocking "Israelis" or "Jews"? Is such a thing even thinkable?

The folks at Palestinian Refugee ResearchNet thought they'd create a Facebook page only to discover: Facebook blocks the term "Palestinian"! (H/t Jillian C Cork.)

Are Palestinians the only group so blocked from making pages? Well, not really… after a little fiddling around, I discovered that al-Qaida Refugee ResearchNet and Nazi Refugee ResearchNet are filtered too.

It does seem a bit odd, however, that a population of up to 12 million people, receiving more than a billion dollars in international aid, recognized by the UN, and enjoying a degree of formal diplomatic recognition from the United States — is placed in the same filtered category as Nazis and al-Qaida.

I've sent an email to Facebook customer service—we'll see what they say.

Just to be sure, I tried myself to create a "Palestinian sports" page — not allowed.

Arabists were ousted from the US State Department, Israel-Firsters took over

Re: Obit: James Akins: Envoy foresaw '73 oil embargo

Dear Editor:

When reading Robert D. Kaplan's book, "Arabists", I thought it to be interesting.

Before completing Kaplan's book, I called James Akins in Washington. We had an informative conversation in which he corrected me, as in Kaplan's book he insulted Akins, denigrating him. I took a second look at those quotations, I left a marker in the book, and did not complete the reading.

I find this obituary to be a bit slanted, as if being an "Arabist" or pro-Arab is a fault.
At the time, Akins and his fellow Arabists had an excellent relationship with the Arab countries which, in turn, sought out the United States as a friend. It was a healthy  and peaceful time, and the press did not take advantage to promote any anti-Arab myths or bias.

Akins continued the conversation, and told me that most or all of the Arabists were ousted
from the State Department for which he worked. They had to find work elsewhere. Those who believed otherwise, took over that department.

Sincerely,

Eleventh International Kashmir Peace Conference

Kashmir American Council And The Association of Humanitarian Lawyers

Proudly Presents

Eleventh International Kashmir Peace Conference

“India-Pakistan Relations: Breaking the Deadlock over Kashmir”

Thursday, July 29th, 2010, from 8.45am – 6.00pm, at the Cannon Caucus Rm # 345 and

Friday, July 30th, 2010, from 9:00am – 5:30pm, at the Rayburn, Gold Room # 2168

The  Eleventh International Kashmir Peace Conference will be held on Thursday, July 29th & Friday, 30th, 2010 on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.  The primary objective of this conference is to explore various possibilities to set a stage for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Speakers will represent Kashmir on both sides of the cease-fire Line; from India, Pakistan and include eminent personalities with an interest in this explosive global concern.

The international community upholds the principled position that the future status of Kashmir be ascertained in accordance with the wishes and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.  When the Kashmir dispute was brought before the Security Council in 1948, a commitment to this was evident and remains valid. The rights of self-determination are clearly articulated in the United Nations and no one has the right to coerce or diminish the identity of another.

The urgent goal of resolving the Kashmir dispute cannot be left to the two governments to achieve.  Bilateral talks have proven barren for more than 61 years; they have lacked a sense of urgency. It requires the engagement of a multilateral effort with the participation of the Kashmiris themselves.

A durable peace, with the development of harmonious relations for the entire region, will serve the vital interests of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir and India as well as the international community. With good faith by all  concerned parties should work together towards a final settlement of the Kashmir dispute.  Nuclear proliferation and rising levels of violence only exacerbate the urgency of the matter.
