July 12, 2024
Editor's Note: There was a lack of reporting about the death toll in the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, for July 12, 2024. As a result, the following is an initial report, on the basis of the media published reports. On July 12, 2024, on the basis of the published reports by WAFA and PIC, the Israeli genocidal air strikes and bombardment on the Gaza Strip resulted in 2 major massacres, in Al-Shuja'iya and Tel Al-Hawa and two more in Rafa'h and Al-Nusayrat, in which 121 Palestinian civilians were killed. There was a lack of media reporting about the injured Palestinian civilians in these massacres, in the past 24 hours. This increased the accounted for death toll in Gaza Strip to 38,466 and the injuries to more than 88,295, since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on October 7, 2023. ***
Editor's Notes:
Here are some
initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli
war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on
Gaza Strip, based on the
By July 11, 2024,
the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the
Israeli genocidal war on
Gaza
Strip is
45,345+.
This includes the accounted for deaths (38,345), those who are still missing under the rubble (a corrected estimate, on April 18, 2024: 7,000+).
By July 12, 2024, the Israeli genocidal air strikes and bombarment destroyed more than 100 health hospitals and medical facilities, 609 mosques, 3 churches, more than 430,000 housing units, and the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful "Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had killed humankind entirely" (The Holy Quran, Al-Ma-ida, 5: 32). "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great torment" (Al-Nisa, 4: 93). "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, (you do it) to yourselves" (Al-Isra, 17: 7). *** While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son). After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD. By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents. No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians. No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since. This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948. The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis. More detailed news stories can be found at the following sources:http://english.wafa.ps/, https://english.palinfo.com/, https://imemc.org/, https://paltoday.ps/ar/ *** Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places: 1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules. 2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet. 3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel. 4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed. 5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists. The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies. In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain. 6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people. Click here for more about using the apostrophe and the underlining of letters in the transliteration of Arabic names. *** 'Hamas urges international accountability for Israeli crimes in Gaza City Friday 12-July-2024 GAZA, (PIC) The 'Hamas Movement has accused Israel of committing “heinous abuses” in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City. “The atrocities revealed after the terrorist occupation army’s withdrawal from Tel Al-Hawa in southwest Gaza City, after days of incursion and intense bombing that targeted all aspects of life, are war crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing,” 'Hamas said in a statement issued on Friday evening. 'Hamas called on the UN and international community, including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, to take immediate steps to end a “war of extermination” that Israel is waging against the Palestinians. Earlier on Friday, the Palestinian civil defense revealed that at least 60 bodies have now been found in Gaza City’s Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood. “We’ve been reporting all day on the discovery of bodies in Gaza City, after Israeli forces withdrew from some of its areas this morning. The previous number we had from the civil defense was 50,” spokesperson for the civil defense Mahmoud Basal said. “The Gaza civil defense teams moved in to rescue survivors. They found dozens killed. Most of those killed are families, women, and children. Some bodies were eaten by dogs,” Basal said. “At least 60 bodies were counted. Some bodies were buried on the spot. Others were taken to nearby hospitals. Many bodies are still under the rubble. The Israeli forces are stationed nearby, and the rescue efforts are interrupted regularly,” he added. *** UNRWA: Gaza on the verge of losing an entire generation of children RAMALLAH, Friday, July 12, 2024 (WAFA) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said the Gaza Strip is on the verge of losing an entire generation of children due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 7, 2023. Director of Communications at UNRWA, Juliette Touma, explained in a post on X that more than 600,000 children in Gaza have not been able to go to school since the Israeli war began in October. She pointed to the closure of a large number of schools and the transformation of UNRWA schools into shelters for internally displaced people. "This means that if this war continues, we will face the risk of losing an entire generation of children." The relief agency’s Director of Communications called for a ceasefire for the sake of children in Gaza. T.R. *** The World Food Program: Children’s lives threatened by collapse of public health and malnutrition Friday 12-July-2024 GAZA, (PIC) The World Food Program (WFP) said that “the collapse of the public health system and the lack of sustainable means for nutritious food leave countless children in Gaza at risk.” In a post on its official X account, WFP pointed to a case of a Palestinian woman, identified as Shaymaa, who tragically lost her son to malnutrition, saying it was a completely preventable condition. It’s time for an immediate ceasefire, the WFP concluded. *** 'Hamas: Mediators have not provided us with any updates regarding ceasefire negotiations Thursday 11-July-2024 'Hamas said on Thursday that mediators have not yet provided the Movement with any updates regarding Gaza ceasefire negotiations. 'Hamas said in a brief statement, “The Israeli occupation regime continues its policy of stalling to buy time to thwart this round of negotiations, as it has done in previous rounds.” Since rumors spread about the return to indirect ceasefire negotiations, the Israeli occupation army has escalated its aggression and barbaric shelling on the Gaza Strip. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that the ongoing Israeli crimes are mainly aimed at using civilians as a tool of pressure and extortion to exterminate the Palestinians in light of the international silence towards the ongoing Israeli crime of genocide in the Strip. *** Islamic Jihad condemns the Israeli closure of the courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque, which is an attempt to Judaize the Islamic sanctity Friday 12-July-2024 Al-KHALIL, (PIC) The Islamic Jihad Movement condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ (IOFs) offensive on the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Al-Khaleel (Hebron), south of the West Bank, dubbing it a “crime against the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Islamic sanctities.” The Movement said in a statement on Thursday evening, “The crime committed by the IOFs today comes in the context of the Israeli plans to Judaize the Ibrahimi Mosque along with other holy sites, to enforce a state of spatial and temporal division between Palestinians and Israelis, and destabilize the existing historical, legal, and religious de facto situation at the Ibrahimi Mosque in order to change its Islamic identity.” The statement stressed that “what happened today is a blatant violation of the dignity of Muslims, which requires Arab and Muslim countries and governments as well as human rights institutions to fulfill their responsibilities,” stressing “the need for mobilizing all forces in order to put an end to this Zionist aggression against our sanctities.” “Our Palestinian people will not remain silent in the face of these attacks and will confront them with all their might in defense of their land, sanctities, and the dignity of all Muslims,” the Islamic Jihad added. For his part, the Grand Mufti of Al-Quds (occupied Jerusalem) and the Palestinian territories, and the preacher of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Mu'hammed 'Husain said on Thursday that the Israeli closure of the courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque is “an attempt to Judaize the place, change its Islamic identity, structure and external appearance.” He underscored that this attack “constitutes a serious violation of the holy place and the freedom of worship in it and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims. It also portends a dangerous escalation against Palestinian sanctities.” The director of Al-Khaleel Endowments, Ghassan Al-Rajabi, said in a press statement, “The Israeli occupation forces are taking advantage of the ongoing war on Gaza, in an attempt to change the Islamic features of the Ibrahimi Mosque,” calling it “a blatant attack against the sanctity and status quo of the Mosque.” The Ibrahimi Mosque is located in Al-Khaleel (Hebron) Old City which is under full control of the Israeli occupation apartheid regime, and includes the tombs of the Muslim Prophets Ibraheem, Is'haq, and Ya'coob (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), peace be upon them all. *** UNRWA: UNRWA staff tortured in Israeli jails Friday 12-July-2024 GAZA, (PIC) The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Friday that its staff who were detained by Israeli forces were subjected to “ill-treatment and torture.” This came in a press conference held by the Agency’s Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, during a pledging conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Today, UNRWA is staggering under the weight of relentless attack, Lazzarini said. “In Gaza, it has paid a terrible price, 195 of our colleagues were killed and nearly 190 installations were damaged or destroyed, killing over 500 people seeking United Nations protection.” It comes at a critical time as UNRWA undergoes unprecedented attacks and systematic attempts to dismantle it, he added. “It is a tribute to our staff working across the region, including on the humanitarian front lines in Gaza.” “We are committed to continuing to deliver assistance and basic services, including education to Palestinian boys and girls.” Antonio Guterres, the UN secretary-general, also spoke at the UNWRA pledging conference at the UN headquarters in New York. Guterres appealed to everyone to protect UNRWA and its employees, saying that “there is no alternative to it.” *** ýPalestinian student Anas Al-Qanou' successfully defends his doctoral dissertation Reporters for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that the Israeli occupation army continued to bomb homes and attack citizens in different areas of Gaza during the past 24 hours. The Israeli occupation forces have continued their ground invasion of large neighborhoods in Rafa'h, since May 7, while storming the Gaza City amid air and artillery bombardment. The Israeli occupation forces opened their machine gunfire in the Al-Rimal neighborhood in the center of Gaza City, amid artillery shelling in the vicinity of the fishermen’s port. The Gaza Civil Defense spokesman said that their crews transported a number of casualties from Tel Al-Hawa and the Industrial Area after the Israeli forces’ withdrawal. The Civil Defense also warned of the serious danger of the Israeli remnants that have failed to explode. Local sources affirmed that the Israeli occupation army withdrew from the Industrial Area, saying that a number of martyrs are still lying in the streets and under the rubble, in addition to the UNRWA industrial headquarters. Israeli helicopters opened fire on citizens’ homes west of Gaza City. Meanwhile, four Palestinians were killed, and many others were injured, mostly children, in an Israeli attack on the Abu Mustafa family house in the vicinity of Al-'Awda, northeast of Al-Nusayrat in the central Gaza Strip. Two Palestinians were also injured in a helicopter raid in the Geezan Abu Rashwan area, south of Khan Younus. The Israeli artillery shelled the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, west of Gaza City. *** Israeli genocidal airstrikes kill three civilians, including baby, in Gaza GAZA, Friday, July 12, 2024 (WAFA) - Early this morning, at least three civilians were killed following an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the central Gaza Strip. Local sources reported that among the deceased was an infant, after Israeli aircraft targeted a home in the northern area of Al-Nusayrat refugee camp in central Gaza. In a statement, the Civil Defense confirmed that dozens of martyrs are still under the rubble in Al-Shuja'iya neighborhood. “We have not managed to reach them yet because of the ongoing Israeli raids that are still targeting the neighborhood”, the Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal explained. He stressed that Al-Shuja'iya neighborhood has become an unlivable disaster area after the Israeli occupation army destroyed more than 85% of its buildings. The Civil Defense indicated that its crews are denied entry into Al-Shuja'iya neighborhood to recover the martyrs and trapped people under the rubble due to Israeli relentless airstrikes and ground operations. *** Gaza: Civil defense teams recover over 56 bodies following Israeli withdrawal from Tel Al-Hawa GAZA, Friday, July 12, 2024 (WAFA) – On the 280th day of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, rescue and civil defense teams recovered the bodies of approximately 60 Palestinians from Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City, tragically killed during the recent Israeli military offensive in the area. Israeli forces pulled out yesterday from Tel Al-Hawa and the western area of Gaza City after a week-long incursion, allowing emergency responders access to the region early this morning. Medical sources at the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City reported that 56 bodies were retrieved from Tel Al-Hawa and the Industrial Zone in the city by 10 am local time. Additionally, emergency teams extracted five bodies from inside the Patient's Friends Hospital in western Gaza City. Eyewitnesses conveyed harrowing scenes of dozens of bodies strewn across the ground and buried under the rubble of destroyed homes in Tel al-Hawa and the Industrial Zone. In Rafa'h, southern Gaza, two civilians were reported killed in an Israeli drone strike on the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood. Furthermore, a number of individuals sustained injuries in intense airstrikes and artillery bombardment by Israeli forces targeting the northern part of Al-Nusayrat refugee camp in central Gaza, necessitating their transfer to the Al-'Awda Hospital. Fire is still burning in some of them. According to Al-Jazeera TV correspondent, Isma'eel Al-Ghoul, the IOFs withdrew from the industry area in Tel Al-Hawa, after a devastating one week of ground invasion. Meanwhile, Israeli snipers were taking control of rooftops in some neighborhoods, as the displaced were struggling to check on their homes and property. For his part, the spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, said that the number of martyrs in Tel Al-Hawa area and the industry street reached nearly 60 martyrs after the withdrawal of the IOF. The Civil Defense in Gaza said that dozens of martyrs’ bodies are still scattered on the roads and inside houses as entire families were martyred on the industry street after the withdrawal of the IOFs. *** *** Killing, Injuring, and Abduction of Palestinians in the West Bank by Israeli Occupation Regime Forces *** IOFs shoot, kill Palestinian man in West Bank Friday 12-July-2024 RAMALLAH, (PIC) A young man was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) in Abwein town, northwest of Ramallah, in the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health declared on Friday evening. The Ministry identified the martyr as Ali Muwaffaq Mousa Muza'him, 26, saying that he suffered from serious gunshot injuries in the head. The town witnessed violent confrontations after IOF patrols stormed the area amid heavy live fire. Local media activist Mu'hammed 'Awwad reported that the Israeli forces stormed the town with dozens of military vehicles and soldiers. They arrested lawyer Tha-ir Abu 'Ayyash, 35, and his brother, Ma'hmoud, 36, after raiding their home, destroying its belongings, and confining family members to a single room. The detainees were subsequently transferred to the Etzion military camp north of the town. M.N. *** Clashes erupt in IOFs West Bank raids Friday 12-July-2024 WEST BANK, (PIC) Clashes broke out after the Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) stormed several areas in the West Bank at dawn Friday. In Toulkarm, the IOFs stormed the Shuwaika suburb and arrested a young man from his family house. Local sources said that resident Waleed Sadiq was forced today to self-demolish his 100-square-meter home or else the Israeli municipality will demolish it and obligate him to pay the exorbitant costs. Under the pretext of building without a permit, which is rarely granted to Palestinians in the occupied city, the Israeli municipality has been demolishing or forcing Palestinians to demolish their own houses as part of a policy aimed at restricting Palestinian expansion and growth in occupied Jerusalem. Palestinians in East Jerusalem find themselves compelled to tear down their homes after receiving a demolition order to avoid paying exorbitant costs to the Israeli municipality if it carries out the demolition.
