3,785 Palestinian Civilians Killed, 12,493 Injured, in Israeli Genocidal Air Strikes on Gaza, in Addition to 1300 Under Rubbles By October 19, 2023
"Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had killed humankind entirely" (The Holy Quran, Al-Ma-ida, 5: 32). "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great torment" (Al-Nisa, 4: 93). *** While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son). After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD. By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents. Abduction of Palestinians by Israeli Occupation Regime SoldiersIsraeli Occupation Army Abducts 141 Palestinians From West Bank IMEMC, OCT 19, 2023 Israeli soldiers abducted at least 141 from their homes and many buildings, while Israeli colonizers attacked Palestinians, their homes, and lands and destroyed property across the occupied West Bank. In Jericho, in the northeastern West Bank, the soldiers stormed and ransacked several homes and abducted Ayyoub 'Omran Al-'Alam after detonating the main door of his home in Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, south of the city. It said Israel detained at least 850 Palestinians since the start of the aggression on Gaza on October 7. M.K. Israeli Hate Speech Intensifies7amleh’s "Violence Indicator" documents 103,000 instances of hate speech and incitement against Palestinians on social media HAIFA, Thursday, October 19, 2023 (WAFA) - In light of the recent escalations in the region, including the devastating bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Arab Hospital in the heart of Gaza City, which resulted in the death of more than 500 Palestinians and the injury of hundreds, hate speech and incitement in Hebrew targeting Palestinians on social media is on the rise, today said 7amleh- the Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media in a statement. In this context, 7amleh has documented over 103,000 instances of hate speech and/or incitement in Hebrew out of 120,000 posts collected between October 7th to the 18th using their recently developed "Violence Indicator". The vast majority of these instances were found on "X", which is allowing the spread of harmful content without sufficient moderation. 7amleh said 63% of the documented instances of hate speech and incitement were based on political affiliations and/or nationalist sentiments, and 34% were rooted in racist bias. The remaining instances included gender-based and religious violence, among others. 7amleh recently developed the "Violence Indicator," a linguistic model that uses artificial intelligence technology to automatically and immediately monitor the spread of hate speech and violence on social media platforms in Hebrew targeting Palestinians. The findings are then presented on "7or - the Palestinian Digital Rights Violations Observatory''. 7amleh’s interactive data analytics display enables users to use the model as a tool for understanding how prevalent hate speech and incitement are on social media platforms. 7amleh documented an additional 701 violations that targeted Palestinian users and supporters of Palestinian rights since October 7 and until October 18, which have been submitted by users on 7or. Those submissions have been reviewed by 7amleh, and were escalated to the appropriate corresponding social media company. The violations include 286 cases of account restriction or account takedowns on Palestinian activists, in addition to 415 instances of hate speech and incitement. Among the targeted accounts are official pages of civil society organizations and independent media organizations. Those include Quds News Network, followed by more than eight million users on Facebook, as well as the Instagram page of Mu'taz Azayza, followed now by more than four million users. Mu'taz Azayza’s page faced several restrictions which were appealed. However, the Facebook page of Quds News Network in Arabic got unpublished and permanently removed from the Meta platform. 7amleh also documented hate speech, incitement, and disinformation surrounding the bombing of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital on the night of 17 October. 7amleh also documented more violations by online platforms aimed at silencing Palestinians and violating their digital rights and their rights to freedom of expression. This is done by limiting outreach, restricting accounts, as well as content removals and account suspensions. It is worth noting that most violations aimed at silencing Palestinians occurred on Meta’s platforms (Instagram and Facebook). 7amleh emphasized that “social media companies must not discriminate against Palestinian users. They should not restrict Palestinian content due to political pressure, and must commit to the removal of hate speech and incitement across all platforms, especially as this kind of speech translates into real-world violence committed against Palestinians.” It encourages social media users to report any instances of digital rights violations including hate speech, incitement and spread of false news in the digital space to "7or" platform. M.K. *** Rights lawyers release legal analysis of US complicity in Israel’s unfolding genocide against Palestinians in Gaza GENEVA, Thursday, October 19, 2023 (WAFA) – On the heels of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel and as the Palestinian death toll in Gaza passes 3,300, expert attorneys from the US-based Center for Constitutional Rights released a legal and factual analysis of Israel’s unfolding crime of genocide against the Palestinian people and US complicity in this grave international law violation. The emergency briefing paper comes soon after the US veto of a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning both Hamas’s attack on Israel and all violence against civilians and calling for humanitarian access to Gaza. It also comes as President Biden seeks to secure additional, unconditional military support for Israel. According to the emergency briefing paper, there is a credible case, based on powerful evidence, that Israel is attempting to commit, if not actively committing, genocide in the occupied Palestinian territory, and specifically against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The United States has a duty under Article 1 of the 1948 Genocide Convention to prevent acts of genocide, an obligation that has been domestically implemented through U.S. criminal law. The legal and factual analysis provided by the Center for Constitutional Rights describes how, through its ongoing unconditional military, diplomatic, and political support to Israel, the United States is not only failing to prevent genocide, but is complicit. Under international law, the United States – and responsible US citizens, including and up to the President – can be held accountable for their role in furthering genocide. According to the International Court of Justice, “a State’s obligation to prevent [genocide], and the corresponding duty to act, arise at the instant that the State learns of, or should normally have learned of, the existence of a serious risk that genocide will be committed.” States are required to take all measures “reasonably available to them” to prevent this risk from that moment onward, “if the State has available to it means likely to have a deterrent effect on those suspected of preparing genocide, or reasonably suspected of harboring specific intent.” As scholars and observers increasingly warn of genocide, and as protestors rise up against Israel’s gravest atrocities against Palestinians since 1948, the Center for Constitutional Rights has been asked by Palestinian partners on the ground to offer this analysis as we strengthen our collective efforts towards accountability and freedom. The emergency briefing paper calls on the United States to take all necessary measures to secure a ceasefire, pressure Israel to end all military operations, end all US military aid to Israel, and ensure the provision to Palestinians in Gaza of urgently needed basic necessities for life. The experts also stress in the briefing paper the urgent need to address the root causes of the current catastrophe, especially the 16-year closure of Gaza, the 56-year illegal occupation, and the apartheid regime across all of historic Palestine. The emergency briefing paper will be submitted to national and international stakeholders, including the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, and the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. It will also be sent to President Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and other US officials and relevant agencies. M.K. *** Newspapers Review: The war on Gaza and Biden in Israel dominated the front page headlines RAMALLAH, Thursday, October 19, 2023 (WAFA) – The ongoing brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip that killed thousands of Palestinian civilians, mainly children, and the visit by US President Joe Biden to Israel were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today. The main front-page story headline in al-Quds daily said: “Biden adopts the Israeli narrative; the Israeli army prepares to move on the ground.” Al-Ayyam's daily front-page headline said: “The occupation continues its genocide in the Gaza Strip, 165 martyrs.” The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida said in its main front-page story headline: “Twelve days of massacres.” Al-Hayat Al-Jadida also said that the Palestinian leadership said displacing the people in Gaza is a red line that will not be allowed to cross. It said three people were killed by Israeli soldiers in Shuqba and Jama'een in the West Bank, a general strike was observed, and marches and protests were held everywhere in the West Bank and Jerusalem against the war on Gaza and the massacres. Al-Ayyam said evidence shows that the Baptist Hospital in Gaza was bombed by an American-made MK84 bomb. It said 440 massacres were committed in Gaza and there are reports of 130 people still missing. It also said that Hezbollah and the Israeli army exchanged gunfire in south Lebanon. Protests were reported in several Arab countries denouncing the attack on the hospital and Jewish activists broke into the Congress in Washington demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. Al-Quds said hundreds were killed in the attack on the hospital in Gaza. It said Israel carried out demolitions and leveling of land, as settlers attacked Palestinians in the West Bank. M.K. ***
