Israeli Occupation Soldiers Kill 7 Palestinians in the West Bank, Injure 152, Abduct 400 Worshippers Inside Al-Aqsa Mosque

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

Al-Aqsa Preacher: 400 Palestinian worshipers arrested in the holy site

Preacher of al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, confirmed that the Israeli occupation police forces arrested more than 400 worshipers after violently breaking into the holy site early on Friday.

The Israeli occupation forces turned al-Aqsa Mosque into military barracks and carried out a massive crackdown on the worshipers, he said in press statements.

More than 400 worshipers were detained and taken handcuffed via the Maghrebi Gate, he added.

Sheikh Al-Kiswani pointed out that the Israeli occupation police reopened the al-Aqsa doors after carrying out large-scale arrests.

Earlier, the Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said it evacuated 152 wounded people to hospitals after being injured during the clashes.

Israeli police claimed the arrest of 300 Palestinians at al-Aqsa.

Israeli occupation forces have attacked Palestinian worshippers inside al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem during an early morning raid on Friday, injuring and arresting dozens of people. 

Scores of worshippers were injured as Israeli security officers fired rubber-coated steel bullets, teargas and stun grenades inside the courtyards and prayer halls of the mosque.

The Palestine Red Crescent said 152 people were evacuated from the mosque and transferred to nearby hospitals, including many with upper body wounds. Al-Makassed hospital in East Jerusalem said they had received 40 injured people from Al-Aqsa, two of them with critical injuries. 

At least 400 people were abducted at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Shiekh Ekrima Sabri, the imam of Al-Aqsa, said the raid was intended to pave the way for the illegal Israeli settlers to storm the mosque during the Jewish Passover holiday, which starts later this evening. 

"What happened today was a premeditated and orchestrated attack after the mobilisation of occupation forces to suppress the defenceless worshipers," Sabri told Middle East Eye. 

"They want to deter Muslims from coming to the mosque and allow Jewish intruders to storm Al-Aqsa,” the 82-year-old said, referring to plans by far-right Israeli activists to storm the mosque during Passover and sacrifice animals on the premises as part of a religious sacrifice. 

Such sacrifices inside al-Aqsa are unprecedented and will likely provoke the feelings of Muslims worldwide, who revere the Jerusalem site as the third holiest site in Islam. 

"The [Passover] holiday will last for a week and therefore it is likely that they will try to storm again. Muslims must be wary and vigilant from any surprise raids and any treachery carried out by the occupation against us," Sabri said. 

How the raid unfolded 

Overnight, Israeli occupation forces sent large reinforcements to al-Aqsa, eyewitnesses told MEE. Shortly after the dawn prayer was concluded at around 5.30am local time, Israeli forces immediately started their assaults. 

At the time, around 30,000 worshippers had arrived from Jerusalem and Palestinian communities inside Israel to join the prayer. 

Police stormed the courtyards of the mosque from several gates, climbed the roof of the Qibli prayer hall – the main building on the site from where congregational prayers are led - and proceeded to fire at worshippers, preventing medics from accessing the wounded.

After one hour of continued attacks, Israeli forces surrounded hundreds of worshippers inside the silver-domed prayer hall before firing teargas and stun grenades inside the building. 

"They beat everyone. Journalists, medics, elderly women - everyone that was in their way. They didn't spare anyone," eyewitness Fakhri Abu Diab told MEE.  

After four hours, Israeli forces cleared all the mosque's courtyards of almost all worshippers. They then moved in on worshippers inside the Qibli hall who refused to be forced out and locked the doors.

Dozens of Israeli officers infiltrated the hall from the back entrance next to the mosque's clinic, which they also stormed, according to Abu Diab. They then fired directly at worshippers, who took cover behind the pillars, before police arrested over 400 of them.

Though Israel has repeatedly raided al-Aqsa and shot stun grenades and teargas into the Qibli hall, it is very rare for its forces to enter the 1,000-year-old domed building, particularly in great numbers.

Journalists Muhammad Samreen and Rami al-Khateeb were among those injured. At least one child was detained.

The buildings inside the complex were damaged in the attack, with some of its historical windows smashed by Israeli forces.

Shortly after the mosque was emptied, Israeli guards reopened the gates for tens of thousands of worshippers who came from the occupied West Bank and within Israel to participate in Friday prayer. 

Relative calm returned to the city in the afternoon, but with settler plans to storm al-Aqsa next week, more violence is likely to follow, warned Abu Diab, who is an anti-demolition activist from Jerusalem.

"There's no political horizon for Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank where Israel has been building pressure against us for over a year," he said.

"Attacking al-Aqsa will invoke emotions and reactions, and this pressure will eventually blow up."

'Barbaric aggression'

The Jordanian foreign ministry called on Israeli authorities to remove the police and special forces from the mosque courtyards as the attack unfolded.

Haitham Abu Al-Ful, the ministry's spokesperson, warned against the consequences of this "dangerous escalation" and held Israeli authorities responsible for the safety of al-Aqsa Mosque and worshipers.

The Turkish foreign ministry said it was "deeply concerned" about the increasing tensions.

"We would like to emphasise once again the importance of not allowing provocations and threats against the status and spirituality of Masjid al-Aqsa, especially in this sensitive period," the ministry added.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, called the raid a "dangerous development and desecration of sanctities".

"What is required is the immediate intervention of all international parties to stop this barbaric Israeli aggression on al-Aqsa Mosque, so that things do not get out of control," Abu Rudeineh said.

Fawzi Barhoum, the spokesperson for the Palestinian movement Hamas, condemned what he called the "brutal attacks by the Israeli occupation".

"Israel bears all the responsibility of its actions and the risks it takes against our Palestinian people and our people in Jerusalem who are fighting a real battle in defending al-Aqsa Mosque."

The Joint List, a coalition of Palestinian lawmakers in the Israeli parliament, accused the government of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett of trying to "escalate its Judaization of Jerusalem".

"The Palestinian people have never stopped the struggle against the occupation, and they will continue with greater force until the end of this occupation," the coalition said in a statement.

The raid came on the second Friday of Ramadan, the holiest month of the year for Muslims, when tens of thousands of worshippers flock to al-Aqsa to pray.

It also precedes the Jewish holiday of Passover, set to start today and last until 23 April, during which far-right Israeli nationalists have vowed to raid al-Aqsa Mosque and bring animals to slaughter inside its courtyard. 

Such groups also advocate for the destruction of the mosque, where they believe two ancient Jewish temples once stood, to make way for a third temple.

Last year, multiple violent raids by Israeli forces inside al-Aqsa Mosque prompted widespread demonstrations across the occupied West Bank and by the Palestinian community inside Israel, leading to an 11-day war between Israel and armed groups in Gaza.

Israel's large-scale military operation on the besieged Gaza Strip killed 256 Palestinians, including 66 children, according to the UN. In Israel, 13 people were killed by rockets launched from Gaza.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Injure at least 90 Palestinian Muslim Worshippers Inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, in Jerusalem

 Israeli occupation soldiers injured, Friday dawn, at least ninety Palestinians, mainly to the upper body, including at least two who suffered serious wounds, in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the occupied Palestinian capital, Jerusalem, in the West Bank.

Update: The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said the number of injuries is at least ninety Palestinians, including many medics and journalists.

At least two of the wounded suffered life-threatening injuries, including eight who are in the Intensive Care Unit at the al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem.

It stated most injuries are in the upper body and added that at twenty-seven Palestinians have been transferred to a few Palestinian hospitals and medical centers, in East Jerusalem.

The soldiers also shot and assaulted many Palestinian journalists, shooting one with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the head, and causing a fracture in the arm of another journalist.

The Israeli occupation soldiers also invaded and ransacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque clinic and attacked many Palestinians.

The soldiers chased and assaulted many worshipers with batons in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa and closed all gates leading to the holy site in addition to isolating the al-Qibli Mosque without allowing the worshipers to leave.

Many injuries were reported in the al-Qibli Mosque after the soldiers smashed some of its windows and hurled gas bombs and concussion grenades into it.

The Israeli occupation army also isolated the areas surrounding the holy site and prevented hundreds of Palestinians from reaching it before the soldiers stormed the holy compound and removed the Palestinians from it.

The invasion and attack started when dozens of worshippers nonviolent marched in the courtyards of the holy site to condemn the seriously escalating Israeli violations and the plans by illegal colonizers to invade it.

Media sources said dozens of soldiers invaded the courtyard of the holy site shortly after hundreds of Palestinians conducted dawn prayers, leading to protests.

They added that the soldiers fired a barrage of rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades at the worshipers, wounding at least fifty-nine, including one in critical condition.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said many medics and journalists were among the wounded Palestinians and said the soldiers chased many medics and tried to prevent them from providing treatment to the injured Palestinians.

Most of the wounded were injured in the upper body, especially after the soldiers attacked them with batons, the PRCS added.

The Israeli occupation army and the police also closed all gates leading to the holy sites, except for Bab Hotta, which the soldiers used during the invasion into the holy site.

The soldiers also caused damage to many windows of the Al-Qibli Mosque in the al-Aqsa compound after firing gas bombs and concussion grenades into it to force the worshipers out.

Palestinian Child Dies From Serious Wounds Suffered In Jenin

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed, Friday dawn, the death of a Palestinian child from Kafr Dan village, northwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, who the Israeli occupation soldiers shot and seriously injured Thursday.

The Health Ministry said the child, Shawkat Kamal ‘Aabed, 17, was shot with a live round and was rushed to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in Jenin, where he succumbed to serious wounds.

Dozens of Palestinians during the ongoing Israeli invasions into the Jenin governorate, some remain in critical conditions.

His death brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers, Thursday, and Friday, to four after the army killed Fawwaz Ahmad Hamayel, 45, in Beita town south of Nablus, Sha’s Fuad Kamamji, 29, in Kafr Dan town, west of Jenin, and Mustafa Faisal Abu ar-Rob, 31, from Misilyah village, south of Jenin.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Kill Two Palestinians In Jenin

Israeli occupation soldiers killed, Thursday morning, two young Palestinian men and injured at least six others, three seriously, in the Jenin governorate, in the northern part of the occupied West bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said dozens of soldiers invaded the al-Yamoun and Kafr Dan towns near Jenin, leading to protests before the soldiers shot six Palestinians with live fire and wounded many others with rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs.

It added that two of three seriously injured Palestinians succumbed to their wounds at the hospital.

They have been identified as Sha’s Fuad Kamaji, 29, from Kafr Dan village, northwest of Jenin, and Mustafa Faisal Abu ar-Rob, 31, from Misilyah village, south of Jenin.

It is worth mentioning that Sha’s is the brother of Ayham Kamamji, one of six Palestinian detainees who escaped from the heavily fortified Gilboa’ Israeli prison in September 2021 before they were recaptured a week later.

Majd Kamamji, one of Sha’s brothers, said the soldiers detained him and his brothers Mohammad and Emad after the army failed to locate their brother Ahed when they tried to abduct him.

“We were detained for several hours at a nearby meadow and did not know that the soldiers killed our brother Sha’s until after we were released,” Majd said.

Also Thursday, Fawwaz Hamayel, 45, who the soldiers shot with an expanding bullet in the chest, a day earlier, died from his serious wounds.

On Wednesday evening, the soldiers killed a child, Qussai Fuad Hamamra, 14, in Husan village, west of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank. The child was killed not far from where the Israeli soldiers killed Ghada Ibrahim Ali Sabateen, 48, on April 10, 2022.

On Wednesday morning, the soldiers killed a Palestinian lawyer, Mohammad Hasan Assaf, 34, after firing many live rounds at his car in the Industrial Area in Nablus city, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian Dies From Serious Wounds Suffered Wednesday In Nablus

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed, Thursday evening, the death of a Palestinian man who, on Wednesday, was shot and seriously injured by Israeli occupation army fire Wednesday, near Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

The Health Ministry said Israeli soldiers shot Fawwaz Hamayel, 45, with an expanding bullet in the chest in Beita town, south of Nablus.

Hamayel was a married father of three children; the expanding bullet caused excessive damage to his lung, kidney, liver, and diaphragm.

On Wednesday morning, the Israeli occupation soldiers killed a Palestinian lawyer, Mohammad Hasan Assaf, 34, after firing many live rounds at his car in the Industrial Area in Nablus city.

The soldiers also injured more than twenty-five Palestinians after shooting them with live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets in several villages and towns in Nablus.

On Wednesday evening, the soldiers killed a child, Qussai Fuad Hamamra, 14, in Husan village, west of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank. The child was killed not far from where the Israeli soldiers killed Ghada Ibrahim Ali Sabateen, 48, on April 10, 2022.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Abduct 39 Palestinians In West Bank

Israeli occupation soldiers abducted Thursday, at least thirty-nine Palestinians during massive invasions and violent searches of homes and property, in several parts of the occupied West Bank, including the occupied capital, Jerusalem.

In Tulkarem, in the northern part of the West Bank, the soldiers abducted thirteen Palestinians from Nur Shams refugee camp, identified as No’man Bardaweel, Ismael Jaber, Sa’id Jaber, Ayed Abu Harb, Odai Sha’ban, Islam Fouda, Ehab al-Ashqar, Haitham Shehada, Ali Jaber, Anas Jaber, Mousa a-Masha, Ahmad al-Masha, and Hasan al-Masha.

In Jenin, in the northern West Bank, the soldiers abducted three siblings, Majd, Moharram, and Emad Kamamji, from Kafr Dan town, Mohammad Hafeth Sa’ayda, in addition to former political prisoner Zaki Mer’ey and his brothers Adnan and Ehab, from al-Yamoun town.

In Nablus, in the northern West Bank, the soldiers abducted Bilal Eshteyya from Tal village, Amir Eshteyya from Rafidia, and Hamdi Dweikat from Balata al-Balad.

The soldiers also abducted Nidal Khaled Bani Odah, 21, from Tammoun town, south of Tubas in the northeastern West Bank, after stopping him at a military roadblock near Huwwara, south of Nablus.

In Ramallah, in the central West Bank, the soldiers abducted Hamza Saleh al-At’out from his home in the alp-Biereh nearby city.

In Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem, the soldiers Omar Ibrahim Mousa, 20, from his home in the al-Khader town, south of the city.

In occupied Jerusalem, the soldiers abducted Raed Hijazi from his home in the Old City, Mohammad Taha, 14, from Bab al-Amoud, Daoud Sbeitan from his home in the at-Tour town, east of Jerusalem, and Yahia Jabarin, who was taken prisoner near Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank, the soldiers abducted Mohammad Fadel Mahfouth, Abdullah Jihad Qawasmi, and former political prisoner Jibril Shaher al-Atrash.

The soldiers also abducted Obai Yousef Abu Mariya, Mahdi Mershed Awad, Amro Ala Abu Ayyash, from Beit Ummar town, in addition to Jamil Zama’ra and Mohammad Zama’ra from Halhoul, north and northeast of Hebron, and Nasim Taiseer at-Teety from the Al-Arroub refugee camp.

Four Palestinians Killed, including Child, and 12 Wounded in the West Bank”

 IOF Escalated Excessive Use of Force and Killings of Palestinian Civilians with Official Political Support, 4 Palestinians Killed, including Child, and 12 Wounded in the West Bank – Ref: 45/2022, Date: 14 April 2022, Time: 11:30 GMT

Over the past hours, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed 4 Palestinians in crimes of excessive use of force and unjustified use of firearms during incursions into Jenin, Ramallah, and Bethlehem in the West Bank.

These murder crimes reflect IOF loose shooting standards against Palestinians, allowed without threat or real danger to soldiers’ lives. This is conducted with the support of the Israeli political level, assuring a legal covering for murder crimes against Palestinians by the highest political level in Israel.

The murder crimes increased following the Israeli Prime Minister’s announcement on 8 April 2021 that he has granted security forces full support and freedom following an attack in Tal Aviv. Since the announcement, 9 Palestinian civilians were killed, including 2 children and 2 women.

According to PCHR investigations into the murder of two Palestinians in Jenin, at approximately 07:00 on Thursday, 14 April 2022, IOF moved into Kafr Dan village, western Jenin, and raided several houses, and arrested detainee Ayham Kmamji’s three brothers.

The locals gathered and threw stones at the IOF vehicles, while the soldiers opened heavy fire at the crowd, and intensified its shooting while withdrawing from the village at approximately 09:15. As a result, 7 civilians were wounded: two classified critical and one of them died shortly after arriving to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital. The victim was identified as Shas F. N. Kmamji (29), the brother of the 4 detainees.

After their withdrawal, Moustafa Faisal Abulrab (30), from Misilyah village in the southeast of Jenin, was found wounded with a live bullet in the chest near Hursh a-Saada, where IOF withdrew from the village earlier. He was pronounced dead upon arrival to Ibn Sina hospital. No eyewitnesses were available to speak about the circumstances of his death.

PCHR fieldworker investigated the killing of another Palestinian civilian in Ramallah. At approximately 19:40 on Wednesday, 13 April 2022, IOF, backed by military vehicles and members of the Yamam Special Unit, moved into Silwad village, northeast of Ramallah.

The forces stationed in Ras Ali neighborhood; the conducted raids and opened heavy fire along the main road and closed some sub-roads. The soldiers deployed in the town and between civilian houses, while Israeli snipers mounted the rooftops of 3 residential buildings. IOF cornered a two-story house: the first floor is occupied by Abdullah Salah Hamad’s family; and the second is vacant and owned by Abu-Eysha family who live abroad. IOF opened fire at the second floor, breaking its windows.

Then, an Israeli soldier began calling via loudspeakers ordering those inside the house to get out without saying their names. After that, they fired projectiles and stun grenades that blew up the second floor’s main door, and then raided it, broke furniture, and damaged its contents. Also, they detained ‘Abdullah Hammad’s family members around the house and arrested his son Ahmed (22) along with other Palestinians after interrogating them in the field and severely assaulted them.  No arrests were reported from the targeted house.

At approximately 22:00, during IOF’s withdrawal from the village, dozens of Palestinians gathered and threw stones and empty bottles at IOF’s vehicles. As a result, a military SUV collided with a wall adjacent to the village’s main roundabout; meanwhile, IOF fired live bullets and heavy teargas canisters again at the stone-throwers, wounding 7 of them with live bullets. All of the wounded were taken to Palestine Medical Complex and Al-Mazra’a ash-Sharqiya Emergency Centre in Ramallah. It turned out that one of them namely Omar Mohammed ‘Eliyan (20), was critically injured after being shot with a live bullet in his chest. Forty minutes later, medical sources announced ‘Eliyan’s death, succumbing to his serious wounds.

According to PCHR’s investigations regarding the murder of a child in Bethlehem, at approximately 22:00 on Wednesday, IOF stationed at a military checkpoint established on the side of the road leading to Husan village in western Bethlehem, and on the side of the security fence overlooking the Bypass Road leading to “Beitar Illit” settlement, opened fire from a distance of 15 meters at Qusai Foad Mohammed Hamamra (14), while present near one of residential houses in the area. As a result, Hamamra was immediately killed after being shot with several live bullets and taken via a military vehicle to an unknown destination.

IOF claimed that they targeted Hamamra after seeing him attempting to throw a Molotov Cocktail at a military checkpoint in the area. Next day dawn, Hamamra’s corpse was handed over at al-Nashnash military checkpoint, south of Bethlehem.

So far this year, the Israeli occupation forces killed 30 Palestinian, including 7 children and 2 women, in separate incidents across the West Bank. These incidents were all characterized with excessive use of force against peaceful civilian gatherings and protests.

PCHR reiterates its call upon the international community to take immediate action to stop the Israeli occupation’s crimes and reiterates its call upon the High Contracting Parties to the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention to fulfill their obligations under Article 1; to respect and ensure respect for the Convention in all circumstances and their obligations under Article 146 to prosecute persons alleged to commit grave breaches of the Fourth Geneva Convention and guarantee of Palestinian civilians’ right to protection in the OPT.
