7 Syrian Civilians Killed, 31 Injured in Russian Air Strikes on Idlib, a Woman and a Child Killed in Kurdish Militia Shilling of Afrin January 20, 2020 Editor's Note: The following news stories are just examples of the daily horrors of war in Syria. 42 Russian jets carry out raids on Jabal al-Zawiyah, factions target regime forces in Idlib and the defense factories in Aleppo SOHR, 20/01/2020 The rebel factions targeted gatherings of the regime forces and their loyalists in the defense factories near al-Sfireh east of Aleppo with missiles, the factions also shelled gatherings of the regime forces in the villages of Halban and al-Thahabiyah in the eastern countryside of Idlib with artillery shells. In the same context, the Russian warplanes bombarded Ihsim town and the surrounding of Deir Sunbul town in Jabal al-Zawiyah, but no information about casualties. Russian jets stepped up their aerial bombardment on the “de-escalation” zone, bringing the number of today’s airstrikes on both Aleppo and Idlib provinces to 42. The airstrikes targeted places in Sheikh Ali, the vicinity of Al-Jinah, Anjara, Shamiko, Uwayjil, Al-Qasimiyah, Mirnaz, Kafr Nuoran, Kafr Naha, the vicinity of Al-Atarib and Rif Al-Muhandiseen in the western countryside of Aleppo, and Al-Bawabiyah in the southern Aleppo countryside. The Russian warplanes also bombarded Abu Juraif, Hanoutin, Banin and Al-Ghadfah in the eastern countryside of Idlib. The Russian airstrikes killed seven civilians west of Aleppo and injured over 31 others. The fatalities were three child girls were killed in Kafr Ta’al village, one child girl and one female were who killed in Kafr Jum village, and one child and one man were killed in Al-Jinah. Russian jets target a town west of Aleppo city, killing two civilians SOHR, 20/01/2020 The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of a woman and a child as a result of an airstrike carried out by Russian jets, targeted Kafr Joum in western rural Aleppo on Monday morning. Regime forces bombed areas in Khan al-Asal, al-Mansoura, Kafrnaha and al-Rashidin in western rural Aleppo, and other areas in Ma’rat Al-Numan, Ma’ar shorin, Telmenas, Al-Ghadfa, and Mas’asaran. Yesterday evening, the Syrian Observatory reported the death of a civilian as a result of a rocket attack on the neighborhood of Aleppo al-Jadida. Similarly, SOHR sources reported that a rocket attack carried out by jihadist factions, targeted neighborhoods of Aleppo, which are controlled by regime, while regime forces continue to shell towns in western rural Aleppo. Al-Mansoura, Khan Al-Asal, al-Sahafiyeen area and al-Rashideen were all targeted by regime forces in the western rural Aleppo. Kurdish forces shell Afrin city northwest of Aleppo, killing a woman and a child 20/01/2020 Aleppo Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources reported that “Kurdish forces” carried out rocket attacks, from their deployment positions in northern rural Aleppo, on areas in the cities of Afrin and Azaaz controlled by Turkish forces and Syrian proxies factions in same rural, causing the death of a child and a woman and wounded five others, including women and children, in Afrin city.
