Israeli Occupation Soldiers Injure and Abduct Palestinian Civilians, Demolish Homes, New Tunnel Under Al-Aqsa Mosque

 December 11, 2020

Editor's Note:

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of David, Solomon, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

The following news stories are just examples of the Israeli occupation government violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

Israeli Occupation Soldiers Injure Many Palestinians In Kufur Qaddoum

IMEMC, DEC 11, 2020

Israeli occupation soldiers injured, Friday, dozens of Palestinians during the weekly procession in Kufur Qaddoum, east of Qalqilia, in northern West Bank.

Morad Eshteiwi, the coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Annexation Wall and Colonies in Kufur Qaddoum, said dozens of soldiers invaded the town, before storming homes and occupying their rooftops.

He added that the soldiers fired a barrage of gas bombs, causing scores of Palestinians to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

This week’s procession was held in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the “First Intifada,” and sixth anniversary of the death of Palestinian government minister, Ziad Abu Ein, who served as the head of the Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission, when Israeli soldiers killed him during a nonviolent procession.

The residents also marched in condemnation of the killing of Ali Ayman Abu Ata, 15, who was shot by the soldiers on December 7, 2020.

The Palestinians called for continued massive protests in occupied Palestine, to condemn the ongoing Israeli occupation, and its escalating violations.

Kufur Qaddoum and surrounding areas have been protesting the closure of the main road, by the Israeli occupation authorities, in 2003. The road, no longer accessible to Palestinians, is now exclusively used by illegal Israeli settlers from nearby colonies.

IMEMC, DEC 11, 2020

Israeli occupation soldiers attacked, Friday, dozens of nonviolent Palestinian protesters in the al-Mughayyir Palestinian village, northeast of the central West Bank city of Ramallah. The residents were protesting the illegal annexation of their lands and the installation of a colonialist outpost.

Assaf added that the army fired several live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades at the protesters, while a few protesters hurled stones at the soldiers who attacked their protest.

Many Palestinians suffered the effects of teargas inhalation, while several others sustained cuts and bruises, before receiving the needed treatment by local medics. The soldiers also abducted one Palestinian and took him to an unknown destination.

Assaf said the Palestinians are determined to continue their protests until the removal of the illegal outpost, and will not the continued theft of their lands.

It is worth mentioning that al-Mughayyir is subject to constant Israeli violations, including escalating attacks by the illegal colonists, especially in Ein Samia and Marj ath-Thahab areas.

Jerusalem: New tunnel diggings beneath Aqsa Mosque’s eastern side "One of the Jewish tunnels under the holy city"

December 11, 2020

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC) +-

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) and Elad society are carrying out new underground diggings beneath the eastern side of the Aqsa Mosque, according to local sources.

According to Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diyab, excavations are taking place beneath the area from Ein al-Adhra to Bab al-Rahma and near the eastern wall of the Aqsa Mosque.

This new underground activity is being carried out secretly, but there are signs proving it is taking place, such as digging equipment and bags filled with dirt and rocks that were extracted from underground as well as the tight security cordon around the area.

Abu Diyab asserted that workers from Elad (a settler group aiming to Judaize east Jerusalem) were seen working in the digging area.

He expressed his belief that the IOA is working on building new tunnels to connect them with those tunnels extending from the western area to the neighborhoods of Wadi Hilweh, Bab al-Maghariba, Ein Silwan in the south of the Aqsa Mosque and its western wall, and with the network of tunnels underneath Silwan district and Wadi Hilweh neighborhood.

Dozens of Jewish settlers escorted by police forces on Thursday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem.

According to Jerusalemite sources, 108 settlers entered the Mosque in groups through al-Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards under police protection.

Dozens of those settlers provocatively performed Jewish prayers during their presence at the Islamic holy site, according to eyewitnesses.

The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Israeli police close al-Maghariba Gate, which is used by Jews to enter the Mosque, at 10:30 am after the settlers complete their morning tours at the holy site. Later in the afternoon, the same gate is reopened for evening tours by settlers.

During the presence of settlers inside the Mosque compound, entry restrictions are imposed on Muslim worshipers at the entrances leading to the Mosque and their IDs are seized until they leave the holy place.

PCHR: Weekly Report on Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

 IMEMC, DEC 11, 2020

Summary for December 3 – 9, 2020

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued to commit crimes and multi-layered violations against Palestinian civilians and their properties, including raids into Palestinian cities that are characterized with excessive use of force, assault, abuse and attacks on civilians. This week, in a new crime of excessive use of lethal force, IOF killed a Palestinian during the suppression of a peaceful protest in Ras al-Teen area near the eastern entrance to al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah. PCHR notes the recurrence of similar crimes, as PCHR’s staff documented the killing of 22 Palestinian civilians, including 6 children and a woman, by IOF since the beginning of 2020 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Also, PCHR’s fieldworkers monitored and documented IOF targeting of children during the suppression of protests and during incursions into the West Bank cities in recent weeks.

Furthermore, IOF demolitions of Palestinian homes and properties continued as part of Israel’s de facto annexation and under various pretexts in the West Bank.

This week, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) documented 180 violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law (IHL) by IOF and settlers in the oPt. It should be noted that the limitations due to the corona virus pandemic, has limited PCHR’s fieldworkers’ mobility and ability to conduct field documentation; therefore, the information contained in this report are only part of the continued IOF violations.

IOF shooting and violation of right to bodily integrity:

IOF killed a Palestinian child and wounded 19 other civilians, including 6 children, in excessive use of force in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem. On 04 December 2020, ‘Ali Ayman Naser Abu ‘Alia (14) was killed and 4 other civilians were wounded during the suppressing of a peaceful protest in Ras al-Teen area near the eastern entrance to al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah. IOF killed the child without any justification and without the presence of any threat to the soldiers’ lives.

Also, 2 civilians were wounded during IOF incursion into Nablus; 7 civilians wounded, including 2 children- one sustained wounds in his eye, in occupied East Jerusalem; 2 civilians wounded in Jericho; and 4 others wounded in Dheisheh camp in Bethlehem.

In the Gaza Strip, 3 IOF shootings were reported at agricultural lands, and 3 others at fishing boats eastern and western Gaza Strip.

IOF incursions and arrests of Palestinian civilians:

IOF carried out 93 incursions into the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. Those incursions included raids of civilian houses and shootings, enticing fear among civilians, and attacking many of them. During this week’s incursions, 77 Palestinians were arrested, including 7 children and a woman. It should be noted that the woman was arrested twice.

In the Gaza Strip, IOF conducted a limited incursion into northern Gaza Strip.

Demolitions:

PCHR documented 8 incidents, including:

Ramallah: 2 barracks demolished in Deir Dibwan village and another barrack confiscated in eastern al-Mughayyir village; Tubas: 2 excavators confiscated in northern Jordan valleys; Occupied East Jerusalem: 9,000 settlement units approved to be built on the land of the Jerusalem International Airport (Qalandia); Bethlehem: 180 olive trees uprooted in al-Khader village; Jericho: 7 barracks confiscated; Hebron: houses and barns served 9 cease-construction notices.

Israeli Settler-attacks:

PCHR fieldworkers reported and documented 4 settler-violence incidents: 80 olive trees cut in Yasuf village; 10 olive and fig trees uprooted in western Kifl Hares village in Salfit; and a settler attempted to burn the Gethsemane Church in the Mount of Olives area in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli closure policy and restrictions on freedom of movement:

The Gaza Strip still suffers the worst closure in the history of the Israeli occupation of the oPt as it has entered the 14th consecutive year, without any improvement to the movement of persons and goods, humanitarian conditions and bearing catastrophic consequences on all aspects of life.

Meanwhile, IOF continued to divide the West Bank into separate cantons with key roads blocked by the Israeli occupation since the Second Intifada and with temporary and permanent checkpoints, where civilian movement is restricted, and they are subject to arrest.

I. Shooting and other Violations of the Right to Life and Bodily Integrity

At approximately 00:00 on Thursday, 03 December 2020, IOF moved into Nablus, north of the West Bank, and stationed in the city’s eastern side. The IOF secured the entry of dozens of buses carrying settlers towards the Joseph’s tomb to perform prayers. Meanwhile, Palestinian young men gathered, set fire to tires and threw stones at IOF, who responded with rubber bullets and teargas canisters. As a result, 2 young men sustained rubber-coated steel bullet wounds and received treatment at Rafidia Hospital. The wounded were: an 18-year-old male who was shot with a rubber bullet in his face, causing fractures in his teeth and mouth; and a 19-year-old male who was shot with a rubber bullet in his right foot. Also, many civilians suffocated due to teargas inhalation and received treatment on the spot.

Injured Deaf Palestinian Dies From His Wounds Incurred Earlier by Israeli Occupation Soldiers

 IMEMC, DEC 11, 2020

Palestinian medical sources have reported, Friday, that a deaf and mute man, who was shot by Israeli soldiers on August 17th, 2020, has died from complications related to his wounds.

The sources said the Palestinian, Nasser Halawa, 47, from Nablus in northern West Bank, was shot by Israeli soldiers at the Qalandia Terminal, north of occupied Jerusalem, and suffered life-threatening wounds.

Halwa was first moved to a hospital in occupied Jerusalem, and was discharged two weeks ago, before he started receiving treatment in Palestinian hospitals, but eventually succumbed to his wounds and complications.

Muawiya Mona, the secretary of the “Palestinian General Union for People with Disability” in Nablus, said the shooting and the resulting death of Halawa is yet another Israeli crime against the Palestinian people, including people with special needs.

He added that the slain man was walking near the Qalandia Terminal when the soldiers started shouting at him, however, he could not hear them, before they opened fire at him for “refusing to heed to their demands to stop.”

Eyewitnesses said they saw the soldiers opening fire at the man as he walked down the lane, dedicated for cars not pedestrians, before closing the terminal in both directions.

The Israeli army claimed the man approached the soldiers “suspiciously,” and failed to heed to their demands to stop.

It also said the soldiers fired live rounds at the man, shooting him in the leg, inflicting what the military described as “light-to-moderate wounds.”

His sister said that Nasser left his home on that fateful day, heading to the home of their other sister who lives in occupied Jerusalem, where he also intended to go to pray in al-Aqsa Mosque.

She added that her brother was unfamiliar with the changes the soldiers made in Qalandia Terminal, an issue that confused him, and likely made him walk through the wrong side.

“The soldiers started shouting at him, but he is deaf and had no idea what was going on,” she added, “that’s when they shot him with expanding bullets in his legs, before he was later moved to an Israeli hospital.”

The sister also said that her brother underwent four surgeries within the first three months after he was shot, and that the expanding bullets caused extensive damage.

The Palestinian man was also supposed to undergo further surgeries, before he was discharged from the Israeli hospital.

“When my brother was transferred back here, he was in a seriously difficult condition; besides his wounds, he seems to have lost his memory, and didn’t even recognize us, his family,” she added, “He wasn’t eating much, and recently suffered a serious health deterioration.”

It is worth mentioning that the slain man worked with his brother, who has a workshop dedicated for the upholstery of couches in Masha village, west of Salfit, in central West Bank.

On May 30th, 2020, an autistic Palestinian man, identified as Eyad al-Hallaq, 32, was shot and killed by Israeli officers, who fired many live rounds at him at the stairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Jerusalem, and left him lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds for over an hour until he bled to death.

The slain Palestinian was walking to the al-Bakriyyah School for persons with special needs when the soldiers shot him.

UN OCHA: Protection of Palestinian Civilians Report | November 24 – December 7, 2020

 IMEMC, DEC 11, 2020

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

Israeli forces shot and killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy and severely injured three 16-year-old boys in four separate incidents across the West Bank. The fatal shooting occurred on 4 December near Al-Mughayyir village (Ramallah), during clashes that erupted in a protest against the establishment of an Israeli settlement outpost. The Israeli authorities announced the opening of an investigation. Two of the injured boys were shot with live ammunition in the chest during stone-throwing incidents on 28 and 29 November, next to Al Bireh and Silwad (Ramallah), and have been hospitalized in intensive care units. The other boy was shot with a rubber bullet in the head on 27 November during the weekly demonstration against settlement expansion in Kufur Qaddoum (Qalqilia), and was hospitalized with a fractured skull. The UN Special Coordinator, Nickolay Mladenov, as well as the UN Human Rights Office called on Israel to conduct prompt, transparent and independent investigations and hold those responsible accountable.

Israeli forces shot a Palestinian man and seriously injured another in two separate incidents at checkpoints controlling the access to East Jerusalem from other parts of the West Bank. On 25 November, a Palestinian driver, whose documents were being checked at Az Za’ayyem checkpoint, suddenly accelerated his car, lightly injuring an Israeli policeman, according to official Israeli sources; he subsequently stopped on the road side, where Israeli forces running after the vehicle opened fire and killed him. An investigation by the Israeli human rights organization, B’Tselem, found that the man had posed no threat when killed. On 7 December, Israeli forces shot and injured an unarmed Palestinian who was walking towards the Qalandiya checkpoint and reportedly refused to stop after being ordered to do so.

Overall, 206 Palestinians, including ten children, and six Israeli soldiers were injured in multiple clashes across the West Bank. Of those, 148 were hit in protests against settlement activities in Salfit, in Ein as Samiya and Al Mughayyir (both in Ramallah), Beit Dajan (Nablus), and Kufur Qaddoum (Qalqiliya). Another 25 Palestinians were injured in a protest against home demolitions at Tayasir checkpoint, in the northern Jordan Valley. Clashes with Israeli forces that erupted following the entry of a group of Israelis to a religious site in Nablus city (Joseph’s Tomb) resulted in the injury of 13 Palestinians. Five Palestinians and six Israeli soldiers were injured during a search-and-arrest operation in the Qalandiya refugee camp (Jerusalem). The remaining 15 injuries were recorded in search-and-arrest operations in Ad Duheisheh refugee camp (Bethlehem) and in Al-‘Isawiya neighbourhood of East Jerusalem (including a young man shot in the face), during stone throwing incidents, and attempts by Palestinians to cross into Israel through breaches in the Barrier. Nine of all the Palestinians injured were hit by live ammunition and 78 by rubber bullets, 110 were treated for tear gas inhalation and most of the rest were physically assaulted.

Israeli forces carried out 182 search-and-arrest operations and arrested 149 Palestinians across the West Bank. The largest number of operations was recorded in the governorates of Jerusalem (52) and Hebron (46). Forty of the Jerusalem operations happened in East Jerusalem, including nine in the Al ‘Isawiya neighbourhood. Also in East Jerusalem, Israeli authorities issued orders banning the entry of three Palestinian (previously arrested for ‘disturbances to the public order’) to the Haram al Sharif/Temple Mount compound, bringing the total number of people banned by such orders since the beginning of 2020 to over 150.

On at least 18 occasions, Israeli forces opened fire near Israel’s perimeter fence with Gaza, and off its coast, apparently to enforce access restrictions. No injuries were recorded. On two other occasions, Israeli bulldozers levelled land near the perimeter fence, inside Gaza. Israeli forces arrested two Palestinian men who reportedly crossed into Israel through the fence, east of Deir al Balah, and later released them.

A total of 52 Palestinian-owned structures were demolished or seized due to a lack of Israeli-issued building permits, displacing 67 people and otherwise affecting about 860 people. Of the targeted structures, 49 were in Area C and three in East Jerusalem. On 25 November, Israeli authorities demolished ten structures, including about four kilometres of water pipes provided as humanitarian assistance, in seven communities in the Massafer Yatta area of southern Hebron; most of this area is designated closed for military training, placing its 1,400 residents at risk of a forcible transfer. The demolition of 13 structures during this period was carried out on the basis of Military Order 1797, which allows for demolitions within 96 hours of the issuance of a ‘removal order.’ Two of the three residential structures demolished in East Jerusalem were carried out by the owners to avoid additional fines and charges.

Two Palestinians were injured near Qalqilia and at least 300 Palestinian-owned trees and other properties were damaged by perpetrators believed to be Israeli settlers. The vandalized trees include 150 grape vines and about 140 olive trees and saplings in the villages of Turmus’ayya (Ramallah), As Sawiya (Nablus), and Kafr ad Dik, Bruqin, Yasuf, and Kifl Hares in Salfit. At least 1,750 olive trees were vandalized and the produce of over 1,800 was stolen by suspected settlers in October and November. Two of the remaining incidents involved damaging of a plant nursery in As Sawiya village and a shop in the Israeli-controlled area of Hebron city, and another involved an attack on shepherds in Tubas and the injury of a cow. The Israeli police arrested an Israeli man, while he was attempting to put on fire a church in East Jerusalem.

Israeli forces uprooted some 200 olive trees and grape vines planted by farmers from Al Khader village (Bethlehem), on grounds that the land was declared ‘state land’. The land, situated next to Neve Daniel settlement, was declared ’state land’ in 2014.

Two Israelis were injured and 19 Israeli-plated vehicles were damaged while travelling on West Bank roads by perpetrators believed to be Palestinians, according to Israeli sources. The incidents involved the throwing of stones, paint bottles and Molotov cocktails.
