After the Houthis announced the targeting of Jazan and Abha airports in southern Saudi Arabia. Coalition announces downing of drones

July 5, 2019, ALMASDARONLINE ٠٥ íæáíæ ٢٠١٩

The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced Thursday evening the interception and shooting down of drones launched by the Houthi group from Sanaa towards sites inside Saudi Arabia.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said that the defenses intercepted and dropped "drones" launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias towards King Abdullah Airport in Jizan.

"The Houthi terrorist criminal tool continues to launch unmanned aerial vehicles to carry out hostile and terrorist acts by targeting civilians and civilian installations," the Saudi Press agency quoted Al-Maliki’s statement.

Earlier in the day, the Houthi group announced the targeting of Saudi Arabia's Jizan and Abha airports with drones.

The group's Al-Masirah  channel quoted the military spokesman of the al-Houthi forces as saying that "the Air Force"  "carried out offensive operations with 2k Qasif drones on important military positions at Jizan Regional Airport", followed shortly afterwards by announcing the targeting of Abha airport with a number of planes.

The spokesman claimed that the operations "hit their targets with high accuracy, which led to stoppage of the air traffic at the two airports."

For its part, al-Arabiya TV reported that the movement at Jizan airport is normal after trying to target it with Houthi projectile.

It was not possible for Al-Masdar online to ascertain the authenticity of the claims of the two sides from independent sources.

The al-Houthi group has recently stepped up operations targeting Saudi interests through booby-trapped drones, especially Abha airport, which it has targeted several times, while the coalition has announced that it is responding to more attempts.

Yemeni official announces about effective offensives on Saudi depth amid constant Yemeni disaster

 Jul 5, 2019, YemenExtra, Y.A

Yemeni drone attacks over and aover have proven an effective response to the years-long deadly war waged by the Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US, against their country.

The spokesman of the Yemeni army forces said that Air Forces launched tow air operations with Qasif 2K drones on important military sites in Abha and Jizan Airports, hitting targets, resulting in halting all air traffic in both airports.

“Our military operations will continue to target the Saudi airports which are used for military purposes. Our military defense capabilities make us more capable of confronting the alliance of aggression and carrying out qualitative military operations,” the spokesman, added.

He called on civilians to stay away from targeted areas for their safety.

During the attacks on Thursday night, drones operated by the Yemenis targeted aircraft hangars and other military positions inside the airports, which have become a regular target for Yemen’s retaliatory attacks.

Air traffic watch centers said that a flight changed its distention to Jeddah Airport from Riyadh airport. The offensive delayed 4 flights from Al-Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah from getting to Abha and Jizan airports.

Saudi media only confirmed the attacks on Jizan airport and quoted military commanders as saying that the drones had been intercepted without elaborating.

Yemeni forces say they have put together a list of more than 300 vital targets across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Yemeni and will target them with their drones should the Saudi-led coalition go on.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started  a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and  prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.

“The UAE militias in Ataq city, the capital of the province, were defeated and cut, but they moved to sabotage and bomb the oil pipelines in the province,” he added.

The so-called “Shabwaniya elite paid fighters” backed by the UAE kidnapped an engineering team in charge of repairing the crude oil pipeline in Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen, and took them to an unknown destination.

The engineering team was kidnapped during heading to repair the damage caused by Monday’s bombing in the crude oil pipeline extending from the oil field No. 4 in al-Oqla area to the oil port of Al-Nushayma, according to sources.

According to the sources, the camp is the first line of defence for a strategic oil field in Shabwah province.

Member of the Political Bureau of the Ansarullah Abdul Malik al-Ajari , for his part, confirmed to stand with all the free people in the region to confront all the projects aimed to eliminate the Palestinian cause, stressing that this is the position of all Yemenis.
