Scores of Syrians Killed in Russian-Regime Air Strikes and Attakcs July 14, 2019 Editor's Note: The following news stories are just examples of the daily horrors of war in Syria. Readers can find more detailed daily news stories at the sources below as well as many other sources in the internet.
The following are news stories from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) website (http://www.syriahr.com/en/): *** Renewed Russian airstrikes target 2 villages the regime forces failed to recontrol northwest of Hama SOHR, 14/07/2019 Russian warplanes renewed their airstrikes on the Hama countryside, where they carried out more raids on al-Zakat north of Hama, Tal Meleh, and al-Jabin northwest of Hama, and the Syrian Observatory just published that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that Maarrat al-Nu’man water pumping station and the city’s water reservoir went out service, as after being targeted by airstrikes by the Russian warplanes, as part of the systematic policy by the Russians and the regime to target vital facilities and public facilities, and in the same context, air and ground bombardments continue within “Putin-Erdogan” area, where it rose to 15, the number of raids carried out by Russian warplanes since the morning on the vicinity of Maarrat al-Nu’man city south of Idlib, Kafr Zita, al-Lataminah, Tal Meleh, and Jabin in the northern and northwestern countryside of Hama, also it rose to 34, the number the raids carried out by regime’s warplanes since this morning on Khan Shaykhun and its outskirts, the vicinity of Ameriyah, Kafrsajna, Ma’aret Hurmah, outskirts of Bsonqul, Kafr Zita, al-Arba’in, al-Lataminah, Morek, Tal Meleh, and al-Jabin in the northern and northwestern countryside of Hama. In the same context, the Syrian Observatory monitored the fall of a rocket shell launched by the factions on the vicinity of the municipal palace in Aleppo city which is controlled by the regime forces, which injured a child and caused material damage in the area, also the factions targeted with missile shells places in Joureen and al-Hakura which are controlled by the regime forces in the Hama countryside. And with the fall of more casualties, it rose to at least 2742, the number of people who were killed since the 30th of April 2019, the date of start of the most violent escalation in terms of aerial and ground bombardment, shelling, and targeting since Putin – Erdogan agreement, until the 13th of July 2019, and they are: 646 civilians including 168 children and 131 citizen women, and they are 78 including 24 children and 21 women, and 2 of the civil defense were killed in Russian aerial bombardment on the countryside of Idlib and Hama, and 57 including 14 women and 10 children were killed in the fall of barrel bombs, and 380 including 100 children, 70 women, and 4 members of the rescue teams were killed in targeting by regime’s warplanes, also 85 people including 15 women and 11 children were killed in a ground shelling carried out by the regime forces, and 45 citizens including 19 children and 10 women were killed in shelling by the factions on al-Suqaylabiyah, Qamhana, Al-Rasif, Al-Aziziyah, Kernaz, Al-Nairab Camp, neighborhoods in Aleppo city and its southern countryside, while at least 945 of the jihadi groups were killed in the Russian airstrikes and the regime’s shelling including 606 of the Jihadis, in addition to the killing of 881 members of the regime forces in targeting and shelling by jihadi groups and factions. And during the period between the 15th of February 2019; the date of the meeting of “Rouhani – Erdogan – Putin” until the 14th of July 2019, the Syrian Observatory documented the death of 2998 people in the Russian – Turkish truce areas, they are 933 civilians including 250 children under the age of eighteen and 195 women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the Russian aerial bombardment and the rocket shelling by the regime forces and the factions, and among the death toll of civilians there are 73 people including 25 children under the age of eighteen and 16 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 1031 fighters were killed in different conditions within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 651 fighters of the “Jihadis” and 1037 of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them. While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented since the start of the Russian – Turkish truce the death of 3230 people in areas of Erdogan – Putin agreement, they are: 1014 civilians including 278 children and 209 women, were killed in shelling by the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them, targeting, and bombardment by warplanes, and among them there are 75 people including 25 children and 15 women, were killed in the fall of shells launched by the factions, and 1098 fighters were killed in deferent circumstances within the demilitarized area since Putin – Erdogan agreement, including 665 of the “Jihadi” fighters, and 1118 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them. *** 29 were killed yesterday including 3 members of the regime and militiamen loyal to them and 26 other people 21 martyrs joined yesterday the convoy of martyrs of the Syrian revolution SOHR, 14/07/2019 In Idlib Province, 11 citizen were killed, they are: 8 citizens of 2 families (a man, his wife, 2 of his children, and another man with his wife and 2 of his children) were killed in a massacre carried out by the Russian warplanes which targeted agricultural land in the vicinity of Khan Shaykhun south of Idlib, and a displaced man, woman, and their unborn child were killed in air strikes by regime’s warplanes on Kefraya village east of Idlib, and a citizen died affected by injuries he had in airstrikes by regime’s warplanes on Kafr Nubl town in the southern countryside of Idlib earlier. In Aleppo Province, 5 citizens were killed when members of regime’s intelligence service targeted a bus carrying them while they were trying to enter Nubl city from the road of Tal Jabin village in the northern countryside of Aleppo. In Hama Province, 4 citizens were killed, 3 citizens were killed in targeting by the regime forces for their work on agricultural land in the vicinity of al-Jisat village north of Hama, and a child was killed in bombardment by the regime forces on al-Zakat village north of Hama. A civilian citizen and a member of the Syria Democratic Forces were killed in the explosion of a booby-trapped bicycle in al-Busayrah city which is controlled by SDF in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. A member of the Syria Democratic Forces was also killed by bullets by cells the “Islamic State” organization in the city of al-Busayrah, east of Deir Ezzor. The Syrian Observatory learned that 2 fighters of the “settlement” factions of the Eastern Ghouta died under torture inside the Syrian regime’s security detentions after five months of arrest. The Syrian Observatory documented finding the body of an unidentified person on the Road of Qorqanya – Radwa of Harem city north of Idlib, and next to him a paper written on it “penalty of those who plant IEDs and kill Muslims.” 3 members of the regime and militiamen loyal to them were killed in shelling and targeting by the factions for areas northwest of Hama. *** More casualties in the missile strikes by the regime forces on the northwestern outskirts of Aleppo SOHR, 14/07/2019 Aleppo Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: it rose to 2: a child and a man, the number of people who were killed in rocket shelling by the regime forces on Kafr Hamra town in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, and the Syrian Observatory published this afternoon, that the the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored missile bombardment carried out by the regime forces on Kafr Hamra town northwest of Aleppo city, which killed a child and wounded several people, and the Syrian Observatory published that the Syrian Observatory monitored artillery shelling carried out by the Turkish forces targeted areas in the villages of Mar’anaz and Malkiyyeh, which are controlled by YPG in the northern countryside of Aleppo, but no information about casualties. The Syrian Observatory published on the 18th of May 2019 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent clashes took place in Ain Daqneh area and other areas in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside at dawn of today, Saturday, between the rebel and Islamic factions supported by Turkey, against the Kurdish forces present and scattered in the area, which caused casualties in the clashes which are accompanied by targeting by with shells and heavy machine guns, where at least 5 fighters of the factions were killed amid information about more casualties in the ranks of both parties, while the Syrian Observatory monitored heavy and intense shelling by the Turkish Forces with the first hours of the morning, targeted Tal Rifaat and the surrounding places within areas controlled by the Kurdish Forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo, while the Syrian Observatory published on the 4th of May 2019 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored clashes between the pro-Turkey factions of “Olive Branch and Euphrates Shield” against the Kurdish forces that are deployed in the triangle of Shawarghah – Maraanaz – Al-Malikiyah villages in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside. The factions took the control of the entire village of Maraanaz and advanced into Shawarghah and Al-Malikiyah villages, then they withdrew suddenly from all of the abovementioned points as a result of the Kurdish forces’ shelling and the spreading of landmines in the area, were 3 fighters of the factions were killed due to the explosion of landmines in them in Maraanaz village, in conjunction with exchange of shelling between the Turkish forces against the Kurdish forces that are deployed in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside, where positions of the Turkish forces have shelled positions of the Kurdish forces in areas in Tel Rifaat and Menagh Military Airbase, while the Kurdish forces shelled areas in Maryamin village in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which resulted in the fall of wounded, and this shelling and clashes come against the backdrop of shelling by the Kurdish forces today morning on areas in the vicinity of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo. This resulted in the death of 2 officers of the Turkish forces and the injury of others, raising to 91, the number of casualties of the Turkish forces’ soldiers who have been killed since the start of the Turkish military operation in Afrin area in the north-western countryside of Aleppo on the 20th of January 2018, hours after the Syrian Observatory monitored removing the dirt barricades by Turkish Forces in the vicinity of the villages of Mar’anaz and Malkiyyeh in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which are controlled by the Kurdish Forces, accompanied by a ground attack by the Turkey-loyal “Euphrates Shield” and “Olive Branch” factions on Mar’anaz village, where violent clashes took place against the Kurdish Forces, amid advancement for the factions in Mar’anaz village, coincided with an escalation by the Turkish Forces, and intensive shelling on places of deployment of the Kurdish Forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo and lasted for 2 hours, and the shelling and clashes comes after the shelling by the Kurdish Forces that took place this morning in the vicinity of Azaz city. Also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored renewed artillery shelling by the Turkish forces and the Syrian factions loyal to them for the 4th consecutive day, targeting the places where the Kurdish forces are deployed in areas within the northern sector of Aleppo countryside, without information about casualties, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday, Friday, that it monitored exchange of shelling for the third consecutive day in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside, between the Kurdish Forces and the Turkish Forces, where the latter carried out rocket shelling targeting Tal Jijan area and other areas in which Kurdish forces are deployed, while Kurdish Forces targeted by shells areas of presence of the Turks in Kaljibrin Azaz, but no information about casualties until the moment, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday that the Syrian Observatory monitored rocket shelling for the second consecutive day by the Turkish Forces targeted areas of deployment of the Kurdish Forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo, after violent and intensive shelling carried out yesterday following the killing of a one of their soldier, where the Syrian Observatory published that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the Turkish forces are continuing their heavy and violent shelling on the areas where the Kurdish forces are deployed in several areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, in retaliation for the killing of a Turkish soldier after the Kurdish forces targeted a Turkish armored vehicle by a guided missile near Al-Shatt checkpoint in the vicinity of Afrin, and the SOHR published on the 30th of April 2019, that it monitored exchange of violent and heavy shelling in the northern countryside of Aleppo, between the Turkish forces and factions loyal to them, against the Kurdish forces which are deployed in the area, where the Kurdish forces targeted by rocket shells, the Turkish base which is located in the western outskirts of Azaz city, which resulted in the fall of injuries in the ranks of the Turks, also the positions of deployment of the Kurdish forces were subjected to violent and heavy shelling by the Turkish artillery, in conjunction with violent clashes between the both parties in Al-Jatt point on the road between the cities of Azaz and Afrin in the northern and north-western countryside of Aleppo, where Azaz – Afrin road was closed due to the ongoing clashes, and the Syrian Observatory published today morning that it monitored violent clashes after the midnight of Monday – Tuesday the 30th of April 2019, in Kafr Khasher area in the northern sector of Aleppo, between the Kurdish forces which are deployed in the area, against factions operating under the banner of the Operation “Euphrates Shield”, accompanied by exchange of shelling between the both parties. And the SOHR published that it monitored violent clashes in the early morning hours of the 25th of April 2019, in areas in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo, between factions of the “Euphrates Shield” operation loyal to Turkey against the Kurdish forces deployed in the area, where the clashes are concentrated in al-Daghlabash area which belongs to al-Bab area after an infiltration attempt by the Kurdish Forces, and the clashes were accompanied by exchange of targeting which caused casualties, where the Syrian Observatory documented the death of 4 fighters of the factions during the clashes in addition to the injury of others, amid confirmed information about casualties among Kurdish Forces, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 21st of April 2019, that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored rocket shelling by the Turkish forces targeting positions of factions operating under the banner of the Syria Democratic forces in Menagh Military Airbase in the northern countryside of Aleppo, without information about casualties, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday, Friday, that targeting by heavy and medium machineguns continued on Al-Malikiyah area in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside, between the factions loyal to Turkey on one hand, and the Turkish forces which are deployed in the area on the other, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights obtained information about the death and injury of a number of Turkish forces due to targeting to their tank by the Kurdish forces by a guided missile in the northern countryside of Aleppo, and the Syrian Observatory published hours ago, that it monitored rocket shelling carried out by the Turkish Forces, targeted areas controlled by the Kurdish Forces in the vicinity of Mrimin village in the northern countryside of Aleppo, but no information about casualties, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the Kurdish Forces who are deployed in the northern sector of Aleppo countryside; targeted a tank of the Turkish Forces by a guided missile which destroyed it, but no confirmed information yet about casualties in the ranks of the Turkish Forces, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday evening that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored violent clashes took place today, Thursday, in the area of Al-Ghun west of Manbij city in the north-eastern sector of Aleppo countryside, between the pro-Turkish factions of “Euphrates Shield” on one hand, against Manbij Military Council which operates under the banner of the Syria Democratic Forces on the other, accompanied by exchange of targeting, without information about casualties so far. And the SOHR published on the 16th of April 2019, that it monitored violent clashes and targeting after the midnight of Monday – Tuesday, between the pro-Turkey factions of “Euphrates Shield”, against the militiamen who are present in the areas where the regime forces and the Kurdish forces are spread, in places in the areas of Mare’ and Jibrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo accompanied by exchange of shelling between the both parties, and no information was reported about casualties until now, while the SOHR published yesterday, Monday, that the controlled areas of the Turkish-backed operations of “Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch” in Aleppo countryside, are witnessing a state of mobilization and alertness, where the Syrian Observatory monitored that several military columns including vehicles and soldiers of the pro-Turkish factions were seen in Afrin city, heading to the controlled areas of the factions in the vicinity of Tal Rifaat area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, in the time when Afrin city is witnessing a security alertness by the factions of the “Olive Branch”, and the SOHR published hours ago, that reliable sources denied to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights the Russian withdrawal from the vicinity of Tal Rifaat area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the Russian forces are working to find a military representation for them in the northern and northeastern countryside of Aleppo area, and they did not withdraw from the area but the decreased their heavy weapons in the area itself, after tensions and disagreements between the Russians and between the regime and Iran, and this came after forces from the regime responded to the Turkish shelling of Tal Rifaat area and its surroundings of the villages and areas of al-Malkiyyeh and Shawargha and their surroundings in the northern countryside of Aleppo, and several of these shells landed on areas near the Russian bases operating in the north of Aleppo, which was considered a serious threat by them for the Russian forces, especially after what the area had witnessed of mobilization by the regime forces by bringing more heavy weaponry to the area, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also learned that some Russian points were merged with the regime forces, especially members of the “Tiger Forces” of the Brigadier Suhail al-Hasan who is close to Russia and supported by it, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the Russian Forces in the last 72 hours carried out patrols in Tal Rifaat area; confirming their presence in the area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the speculation around the Putin – Erdogan agreement on the fate of Tal Rifaat city, which provides for handing over the city in exchange for areas in Idlib, which is considered dangerous and seriously threatening Aleppo city by Iran and some parties of the regime and the Kurdish forces in the area, in addition to the towns of Nubl and Zahra and areas of control of the latter north of Aleppo, while none of the parties working in the area provided any guarantees not to target the Turkish military vehicles if Russia and Turkey run joint patrols in the area similar to what happened in Idlib area, and the Syrian Observatory recorded a video showing positions of the Russian Forces in the northern and northeastern countryside of Aleppo, where reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the base of the “al-Faisal Mill” in Kasht’aar represents one of the main bases of the Russians, which continues to maintain its tasks in coordinating with the regime forces and the Kurdish Forces deployed in the area, and other than that point; there are points for the Russians in the villages of al-Wahshiyyeh and Deir Jamal in the northern countryside of Aleppo, and al-Nirabiyyah village in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo, but there are no longer points of presence of the Russian Forces who withdrew from it on the 28th of March 2018, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the presence of are at least 30000 people of Afrin city’s people who displaced from their areas after the Turkish war in the area, in addition to the presence of at least 150000 others in villages of the northern countryside of Aleppo. ***
