13,449 students in school age no
longer attending schools in Ninawa alone, as a result
of the destruction of school during the Iraqi government and
US-led coalition war on the northern provinces. Many of these
children have become victims to criminals and militants. Refugee
camps also suffer from a shortage in elementary schools and the
remaining schools require documents which families cannot
provide as a result of the destruction of their home. All of
this resulted in continuous dropping out of school among Iraqi
children in the beleaguered northern provinces.
