Syrians Killed Daily in Scores by Regime-Russian-US Air Strikes January 15, 2018 Editor's Note: The following news stories are just examples of the daily horrors of war in Syria. Readers can find more detailed daily news stories at the sources below as well as many other sources in the internet.
The following are news stories from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) website (http://www.syriahr.com/en/): *** The warplanes escalate their raids on Idlib countryside after targeting to Maarrat Al-Nu’man countryside by “Russian” missiles SOHR, 15/01/2018 Idlib Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the warplanes renewed their bombardment this morning on areas in Idlib countryside, where they targeted places in Khan Shaykhun city and its outskirts in the southern countryside of Idlib, while the warplanes carried out more than 15 strikes after the midnight of Sunday – Monday, though which they targeted areas in Abu Al-Duhur Airbase and Abu Al-Duhur town east of Idlib, in addition to raids targeted Al-Taman’aa town and Al-Khwaiyn village in the south and the south-east of Idlib, without information about causing casualties, while it has increased to 6 including 4 children, the number of people who were injured due to the fall of missiles believed to be Russian on areas in Deir Sharqi village, in the eastern countryside of Maarrat Al-Nu’man city, in which sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the explosions were violent due to targeting a school and areas in its vicinity in the village by missiles, which are believed to be fired by Russian forces, and two missiles of the four ones which fell on the village, resulted in fragmentation of small bombs from them which caused material damage and the break out of fires in the houses of the citizens and resulted in the injury of the 6 people. In the same context warplanes carried out intensive raids from this dawn and until now, on places in the villages of Al-Zarzor, Umm Al-Khalakhil, Mushayrifa Shamali, Sham Al-Hawa and other areas which Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, the Islamic Party of Turkestan and factions managed yesterday to recover them, in the east and the south-east of Idlib, in conjunction with rocket shelling targets the same areas, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published last night, that the calm has returned to the battlefronts in the southeastern countryside of Idlib, between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the rebel and Islamic factions, Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and the Islamic Turkestani Party. This was amid a calm in terms of shelling and fighting after the wide advancement achieved by the factions today, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the factions’ controlled areas have expanded to 22 villages and areas today and yesterday, they are ((Sham Al-Hawa, Atashan, Al-Zafr Kabir, Al-Zafr Al-Shagher, al-Hisa, Tal Salmu, Al-Dabashiya, Al-Khawain, Tal Maraq, Mushrifa Shamali, Jadaniyah, Al-Ubaidah, Umm Al-Khalakhil, Khirbet, Rabia, Tel Khazna, Al-Zarzor, Al-Hussein Farms, IStablat, Rasm Al-Ward)), while the factions continue their attacks towards Al-Hamdaniyah village, and Al-Salumiyah, Sham Al-Hawa, Al-Gadouia, Al-Nadaf Farms, in order to restore control and expand their control large areas in the areas, while the SOHR published today morning that violent clashes between both parties that caused more human losses in ranks of both parties. While at least 177 people, the death toll of members of the regime forces and the factions, who have been killed since Wednesday evening, the 10th of January, 2018. It also rose to 82, the number of members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, including 6 officers, including 3 colonels, one of them is close to Suhail Al-Hassan, and it rose to at least 95 fighters of the factions, including 6 commanders, who were killed in the same clashes. The death toll is expected to increase due to the presence of injured persons in serious conditions, and the factions managed to capture 31 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, in addition to tens of members of Turkestan Islamic Movement, who were also killed in the latest battles. 74 people were killed yesterday including 15 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, and more than 20 persons were killed in artillery and aerial shelling and other circumstances. SOHR, 14/01/2018 It rose to 12, including 1 fighter, who joined on Saturday the convoy of the Syrian revolution. In the province of Rif Dimashq, 6 citizens were killed, one of them is a leader of the Ahrar Al-Sham Movement, who who has played a prominent role in leading the military operations against the regime forces in the Vehicle Department during the latest attack, which was started on the 14th of November 2017, and also in previous attacks against the Vehicle Department near Harasta city, he also played a key role in coordinating the tunnel detonations which targeted the Vehicle Department area in the Eastern Ghouta. A child from the town of Madyra died affected by his injury he received in the previous shelling by warplanes on areas in the town, and 4 citizens, including a woman citizen and a child were killed by shelling that targeted the cities of Douma and Arbin. In the province of Idlib, 4 citizens were killed. They are 2 women citizens from one families, and a child who were killed in raids by warplanes on areas in the town of Krebatikh, and a woman citizen were killed shelling of warplanes on areas in the town of Sarja. In the province of Homs, a man and his child were killed shelling by the regime forces on areas in the northern countryside of Homs. 5 civilians, including a man and his wife, were killed as a result of shelling, believed to be carried out by the international coalition’s warplanes on areas in Hajin, east of the Euphrates and the countryside of Deir Ezzor. 3 people were killed by two explosions in the city of Idlib, near the Faculty of Law, while 2 young men died in unknown circumstances and the people accused the forces of Manbij Military Council of killing them after the forces arrested them, and dumped their bodies in an area in the vicinity of Manbij. At least 9 fighters of the “Islamic State” organization and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes and shelling of warplanes and helicopters and shelling on their areas of presence. 75 people were killed yesterday including 17 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, and 21 persons at least were killed in artillery and aerial shelling, executions and other circumstances SOHR, 13/01/2018 It rose to 15, the number of those who joined on Friday the convoy of martyrs of the Syrian revolution. In the province of Rif Dimashq, 8 people, including 5 citizens, including 3 children, were killed in shelling by the regime forces on areas in farms in the vicinity of the city of Hamuriyah, which is controlled by Al-Rahman Corps of, and a citizen was killed in shelling by the regime forces in the area of Beit Sawa, which is controlled by Al-Rahman Corps, and a man and a woman citizen were killed in shelling of the regime forces on areas in the city of Douma, which is the stronghold of Jaysh Al-Islam in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus. In the province of Idlib, at least 7 people were killed, including 3 children and 3 women citizen, as a result of a massacre carried out by warplanes’ shelling on areas in the town of Khan Al-Subul, located in the southern countryside of Idlib. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also learned that dead bodies of 4 persons, including 2 persons of one family, were shot dead in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor and the people accused members of ISIS of kidnapping citizens and killing them, while ISIS executed two persons in Al-Sha’afa town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, by shooting them on charges of “smuggling Muslims into areas controlled by the SDF”. A member of Al-Shura Council of Al-Rahman Corps was killed by a gunshot in the city of Arbin, and there was no information about the circumstances of his death. The death of shelling of at least 140 members and fighters of the regime forces and the factions, since Wednesday the 14th of January, where it rose to 73 members at least, including 4 officers at least including 3 colonels, one of which was close to Brigadier Suhail Al-Hassan, while it rose to at least 67, the number of fighters of the factions, including 5 leaders who were killed in the same clashes and shelling, also tens of both parties were injured with varying severity, while 31 members at least of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them were captured. It also rose to 79, the number of members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen, including 9 officers, including 5 brigadiers and colonels who were all killed in shelling and clashes and an exchange of targeting since the 29th of December 2017, and it rose to at least 94 fighters of Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham and Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement and Al-Rahman Corps, who were killed in the fronts of Vehicle Department, Province Building, and the vicinity of the Air Intelligence, including a Saudi fighter, who blew himself in the first day of the attack, which caused the siege of Vehicle Department. And 3 members of the regime forces and their allied militiamen were killed in shelling and clashes against ISIS and the factions. At least 4 fighters of ISIS and the factions of non-Syrian nationalities were killed in clashes and shelling of warplanes and helicopters and shelling on their areas of presence *** The following are news stories from the US Department of Defense website (http://www.defense.gov/News) : *** Military Strikes Target ISIS in Syria, Iraq From a Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve News Release SOUTHWEST ASIA, Jan. 12, 2018 — U.S. and coalition military forces continued to attack the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11, conducting 96 strikes consisting of 160 engagements. Officials reported details of the most recent strikes, noting that assessments of results are based on initial reports. Strikes in Syria On Jan. 11 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted six strikes consisting of seven engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS fighting position. On Jan. 10 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 19 strikes consisting of 34 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS supply route, four ISIS vehicles, three command-and-control centers, a recoilless rifle, two logistics centers, an indirect-fire weapon and a vehicle-borne bomb. On Jan. 9 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 26 strikes consisting of 39 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying three ISIS vehicles, a fighting position and a logistics center. On Jan. 8 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes consisting of 26 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying three ISIS vehicles, an ISIS headquarters, a fighting position, an ISIS line of communication and an indirect-fire weapon. On Jan. 7 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes consisting of 27 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying two ISIS headquarters, three logistics centers, two ISIS command-and-control centers, two fighting positions, two vehicle-borne bomb factories and two ISIS vehicles. On Jan. 6 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted seven strikes consisting of 13 engagements against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS supply route, a vehicle-borne bomb, an ISIS observation post, two fighting positions and an ISIS vehicle. On Jan. 5 near Abu Kamal in Syria, coalition military forces conducted three strikes consisting of six engagements against ISIS targets, destroying three fighting positions and two ISIS supply routes. Strikes in Iraq There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq on Jan. 5 and 8-11. On Jan. 7 in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted two strikes consisting of seven engagements against ISIS targets: -- Near Hawijah, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed an ISIS tunnel. -- Near Qayyarah, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit. On Jan. 6 near Hawijah in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted a strike consisting of an engagement against ISIS targets, destroying an ISIS bunker and an ISIS tunnel.
