Palestinian Killed, 5 Injured in Jenin, Scores Kidnapped by Israeli Occupation Soldiers, Illegal Settlers Burn Olive Trees, Defile Al-Aqsa Mosque January 30, 2017 Editor's Note: The following news stories are just few examples of the Israeli occupation government violations of Palestinian human rights, which cannot continue without the full financial and military support from the US-EU governments.
Palestinian teenager was killed and five others suffered bullet injuries in violent clashes with Israeli soldiers in Jenin refugee camp January 29, 2017 JENIN, (PIC) + - One Palestinian teenager was killed and five others suffered bullet injuries in violent clashes with Israeli soldiers in Jenin refugee camp at dawn Sunday. Local sources said that the events started after a large number of Israeli troops infiltrated into the camp from different sides. 19-year-old Mohamed Abu Khalifa died of a severe bullet injury and five others were also wounded one of them seriously, during the skirmishes, the sources added. They also said that some soldiers were injured during armed clashes with resistance fighters in the camp. A few days ago, an Israeli military force stormed the house of Abu Khalifa in the camp and kidnapped his uncles Mohamed and Ahmed Abu Khalifa. They also ransacked other homes and brutalized local residents during that campaign. Israeli occupation Soldiers Abduct Two Palestinians In Southern Gaza January 29, 2017 11:16 PM IMEMC News Israeli occupation soldiers abducted, on Sunday evening, two young men in Palestinian lands, close to the border fence in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The soldiers also fired live rounds and several flares. The WAFA Palestinian News Agency has reported that the soldiers abducted two Palestinians, in their twenties, and took them to a military base, across the border fence. WAFA added that the soldiers also fired dozens of live rounds, and flares, in the area, especially in Palestinian lands close to the border fence. It is worth mentioning that the army frequently opens fire at any Palestinian, especially the farmers and workers, who enter lands close to the border fence, an issue that prevents dozens from working on their lands. Earlier Sunday, the soldiers fired many live rounds at Palestinian homes, property, and farmlands, east of Gaza city, causing excessive damage. Israeli Occupation Army Fires At Homes, Lands, East Of Gaza January 29, 2017 11:02 AM IMEMC News Israeli occupation soldiers, stationed across the border fence, fired many live rounds at Palestinian homes, property, and farmlands, east of Gaza city, causing excessive damage. The WAFA Palestinian News Agency said the soldiers, stationed on towers in the Nahal Oz military base, fired dozens of rounds at homes and lands, east of the Sheja’eyya neighborhood, causing serious damage. The attack also forced Palestinian farmers and workers, out of their lands, especially in areas close to the border fence. Israeli Occupation Army Abducts Two Palestinians In Northern Plains, Summon Three From Bethlehem January 29, 2017 10:47 AM IMEMC News Israeli occupation soldiers invaded, on Sunday at dawn, Khirbit al-Hadeediyya area, in the Northern Plains of the occupied West Bank, searched homes and abducted two Palestinians. The soldiers also invaded Bethlehem, and summoned three for interrogation. Media sources in Jenin said several army vehicles surrounded Khirbit al-Hadeediyya, before storming and searching many residential tents and sheds, and abducted two siblings. The sources said that the two siblings have been identified as Moath Abdul-Rahim Bisharat, 27, his brother Sakhr, 17. Furthermore, the soldiers invaded Bethlehem city, in the West Bank, searched homes and summoned Ismael Kamel al-Kamel, 29, from the Saff Street area, in the center of the city, and Hamza Salman Obeyyat, 28, from Hindaza area, east of Bethlehem, for interrogation in Etzion military base and security center. Another Palestinian, identified as Ahmad Shanayta, 38, was also summoned for interrogation in Etzion, after the soldiers invaded and searched his home in al-‘Obeydiyya town, east of Bethlehem. Extremist Israeli illegal Settlers Uproot And Steel Palestinian Olive Saplings, Grapevines, In Bethlehem January 27, 2017 9:10 PM IMEMC News Several extremist Israeli illegal settlers invaded, Friday, Palestinian orchards belonging to residents of the Al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, before uprooting and steeling hundreds of olive saplings and grapevine seedlings. Ahmad Salah, the coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Israeli Annexation Wall and Colonies in al-Khader, said the colonists came from Boaz illegal colonialist outpost, and invaded orchards and farmland in Ein al-Qassis area, west of al-Khader. Salah added that the colonists uprooted 300 grapevine seedlings and 100 olive saplings, and stole them before fleeing the area. The lands are owned by the sons of late Mohammad Abdul-Salam Salah. He stated that the colonists also stole rolls of barbwires and iron bars that the Palestinians brought to fence their lands to stop the ongoing Israeli vandalism of their orchards. The colonists also invaded an orchard belonging to Husam Mustafa Salah, and uprooting fifty olive saplings before fleeing the area with them. Salah said the Palestinians living in Ein al-Qassis area, are subject to ongoing violations and assaults by soldiers and colonialist settlers. Israeli Occupation Soldiers Detain Fifteen Palestinians, Cause Damage To Homes, In Azzoun January 27, 2017 5:47 PM IMEMC News Several Israeli military vehicles invaded, on Friday at dawn, the town of Azzoun, east of the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia, detained fifteen Palestinians, and caused damage to homes while violently searching them. Media sources in Qalqilia said the soldiers surrounded the town, during early dawn hours, before invading it and breaking into dozens of homes. The soldiers initiated violent searches of the invaded homes, and destroyed the floors of some of them. The army detained at least fifteen young Palestinian men, and interrogated them while inspecting their ID Israeli Occupation Army Injures Two Palestinians, Abduct Three, In Nablus And One Near Bethlehem January 26, 2017 9:19 AM IMEMC News Israeli occupation soldiers shot and injured, earlier Thursday, two Palestinian teenagers in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, during clashes that erupted after several army vehicles invaded it. The soldiers also abducted three Palestinians in Nablus, and one near Bethlehem. Media sources said the Israeli army vehicles invaded several areas in Nablus, leading to clashes, mainly in al-Eman and Mo’ta Streets, in the city, in addition to ‘Askar refugee camp. The sources added that the soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades, at local youngsters who hurled stones at the invading army vehicles. Medical sources in Nablus said one Palestinian, identified as Khaled Abdul-Qader Sharqawi, 17, was shot with a rubber-coated steel bullet in his neck, while Ahmad Jihad Abu Hashi, 19, was shot with a similar round in his head. Netanyahu instructs acceleration of steps to turn the settlement regularization bill (stealing more Palestinian lands) January 29, 2017 OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC) + - Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his ministers at the Knesset to accelerate steps to turn the settlement regularization bill, which aims to legalize Israeli illegal outposts and settlements built on Palestinian lands, into a law. According to Israel Hayom newspaper, which is run by a friend of Netanyahu, Knesset sessions will be held during the current week to vote on the bill. For its part, Haaretz newspaper said that Netanyahu reassured Ofra settlers, who live illegally on Palestinian land in Ramallah, that his government would push to have the bill passed into a law. The legislation had already passed its first reading in the Knesset, but still needs to pass its second and third readings to become a law. Illegal Israeli Jewish settlers desecrate the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards under police protection January 29, 2017 OCCUPIED JERUSALEM + - The Israeli occupation police on Sunday morning persisted in allowing Jewish settlers to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards and provided protection for many of them during their tours. According to local sources, the Israeli police allowed settlers to tour the Mosque’s yards in the morning through al-Maghariba Gate before closing it at 10:30 am. The Islamic Awqaf Authority said that 35 extremist settlers toured the Mosque’s areas in groups under tight police guard. Meanwhile, the Israeli police imposed entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at the Mosque’s gates and prevented several of them from going in before the settlers left the Islamic holy site. *** PCHR Weekly Report: One Palestinian civilian killed, 5 wounded by Israeli forces this week January 27, 2017 1:04 PM PCHR Gaza Human rights, In its Weekly Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories for the week of 19 – 25 January 2017, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) found that Israeli forces continued systematic crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories this week. Israeli attacks in the West Bank: During the reporting period, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian civilian in the north-eastern side of Jerusalem and wounded 5 others, including a child, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces continued to chase Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Sea and open fire at farmers in the border areas. In the West Bank, in new crime of using excessive force, Israeli forces killed Hussein Abu Ghosh (24) from Qalendia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, when they immediately opened fire at him. This happened after his car veered off to a bus station at the entrance to “Adam” settlement established on the lands of Jabe’a village, northeast of the City, and crushed the iron barriers established by Israeli forces in the stations for the soldiers and settlers. On 21 January 2017, during a demonstration organized by Palestinians and international activists at the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddoum village, northeast of Qalqilya, Israeli forces opened fire at ‘Awad Sobhi (12) and wounded him to his right hand. The Israeli forces also abducted Ma’moun Shteiwi (40) and took him to an unknown destination. In the same context, Israeli forces abducted 5 civilians, including a woman, when the earlier moved into “Bab al-Shams” village, which was re-established by the coordinating committee against the wall and settlements in the area adjacent to “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement, east of Jerusalem. On 25 January 2017, ‘Omer al-Barghuthi (26) from ‘Aboud village, northwest of Ramallah, was seriously wounded and then abducted. Israeli forces claimed that a speeding car opened fire at a number of Israeli soldiers near ‘Aboud village, so the soldiers opened fire back, causing serious wounds. During the reporting period, Israeli forces conducted at least 63 military incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank. During these incursions, Israeli forces abducted at least 64 Palestinian civilians, including 17 children. Seventeen of them, including 12 children, were abducted in occupied Jerusalem. Seven of those abducted were activists in the Committees against the Wall and Settlements. In the context of house demolitions and notices, On Thursday early morning, 19 January 2017, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale demolition in the southern side of Qalendia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem. They levelled 22 stores used as an automobile repair and spare parts shops, used car showrooms and vegetable and fruit shops. On 25 Janaury 2017, Israeli municipality bulldozers demolished a store, parking and fences belonging to Redwan Jamal ‘Amr in al-‘Abasiyah neighbourhood in Silwan village, south of Jerusalem’s Old City. Around the same time, Israeli bulldozers demolished a store for construction materials belonging to Nassar Family in Qaddoum Valley neighbourhood in Silwan village as well under the pretext of building without a license. On 17 January 2017, Firas Mahmoud self-demolished his 130-square-meter house in al-‘Issawiyah village, northeast of occupied Jerusalem. It should be mentioned that the municipality issued a decision so Mahmoud self-demolishes his house and refused his attempt to obtain a license or postpone the demolition. If he did not do so, the municipality would demolish it and impose on him a demolition fee. Mahmoud started building his houses 8 months ago and intended to move and live in it in the coming days along with his 5-member family. In the same context, on 24 January 2017, Israeli settlers took over a store belonging to the family of Noura Gheith in ‘Aqabet al-Khalidyah neighbourhood in the Old City of Jerusalem. Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip: In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces wounded 3 fishermen, including a child. On 20 January 2017, ‘Abdel Rahim al-Sultan (25) was wounded when Israeli gunboats stationed west of al-Wahah area in the northern Gaza Strip heavily opened fire at the Palestinian fishermen. On 23 January 2017, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats in the same area. As a result, Uranus al-Sultan (20) and his cousin ‘Oday (14) were wounded. In the context of targeting Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Sea in addition to the abovementioned incidents, Israeli gunboats stationed off al-Wahah shore as well opened fire at the Palestinian fishing boats on 24 January 2017. On the same day, Israeli gunboats stationed off Rafah shore and off Khan Younis shore opened fire at a group of fishing boats. The shooting recurred at the boats on 25 January 2017. However, neither casualties nor damages to the boats were reported. In the context of targeting the border areas, on 24 January 2017, Israeli forces fired two artillery shells at a watchtower belonging to the Palestinian armed groups, east of al-Maghazi in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, the watchtower sustained material damages. On the same day, Israeli forces opened fire at the agricultural lands, east of Khan Younis. In the Gaza Strip, on 25 January 2017, Israeli forces moved into al-Shokah village, east of Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip and levelled and combed in the area before redeploying along the border fence. Israeli Settlement activities and Israeli settlers’ attacks against Palestinian civilians and their property: On 23 January 2017, Israeli forces demolished four dwellings, barracks used as sheep shelters, 2 barns and 4 other attached facilities in Kherbet Karzaliyah in Central Jordan Valley, north of Jericho. That Property belongs to the family of Zuhair Qassem Bani Menia and Zahi Fahim Bani Meniah. The number of both families’ members is 11, including 6 children. The Israeli forces also levelled an agricultural road leading to the abovementioned area to deny the families’ access to the property. In the same context, a group of Israeli settlers from “Tel Mond” and “Nhlial” settlemnts attacked a plot of agricultural land belonging to a Palestinian civilian from Bitello village, northwest of Ramallah and uprooted and broke 10 olive trees there. Israeli attacks on non-violent demonstrations: During the past week, Israeli troops engaged in the use of excessive force against peaceful demonstrations protesting settlement activities and the construction of the annexation wall Following the Friday prayer on Friday, 20 January 2017, dozens of Palestinian civilians and Israeli and international human rights defenders organized demonstrations in Bil’in and Nil’in villages, west of Ramallah and al-Nabi Saleh, northwest of the city, and Kafer Qadoum village, northeast of Qalqiliyah, protesting against the annexation wall and settlement activities. Israeli forces forcibly dispersed the protests, firing live and metal bullets, tear gas canisters and sound bombs. They also chased the protesters into olive fields and between houses. As a result, many of the protesters suffered tear gas inhalation while others sustained bruises as Israeli soldiers beat them up. Following the Friday prayer, Israeli forces moved into Bab al-Shams village established by activists of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlement Activities, adjacent to “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement established on Palestinian lands, east of Jerusalem. Activists re-estabished the village in protest against the bill to annex the “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement to Israel. Israeli forces abducted 5 activists namely Mohammed Abdul Karim Mustafa al-Khatib (42), Akram Abdul Karim Mustafa al-Khatib (64), from Bil’in village, west of Ramallah, Monther ‘Amirah, Head of the Supreme Coordination Committee agains the Wall and Settlements, Lama Nazih and Hasan Faraj, Member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah. It should be noted that Bab al-Shams village was established on 11 January 2013, in protest against the Israeli settlement activity in Jerusalem. About 250 activists from different Palestinian areas in addition to International and Israeli activists set tents to establish the village in East Jerusalem protesting against the “E1” settlement project. However, Israeli forces removed the village. On the above-mentioned day, the activists attempted to rebuild the village. At approximately 17:15 on Saturday, 21 January 2017, Palestinian civilians and International activists organized a demonstration. They made their way from Kafer Qadoum village, northeast of Qalqiliyah towards the eastern entrance to the village, in protest against closing the entrance since the beginning of al-Aqsa Intifada with an iron gate. As soon as the protestors arrived at the abovementioned entrance, Israeli soldiers fired live and metal bullets and sound bombs at them. As a result, ‘Awad Mansour Sobhi (12) sustained a metal bullet wound to the right hand. Israeli forces abducted Ma’moun Rafiq Shtewi (40). Recommendations to the international community: Due the number and severity of Israeli human rights violations this week, the PCHR made several recommendations to the international community. Among these were a recommendation that States that apply the principle of universal jurisdiction should not surrender to Israeli pressure to limit universal jurisdiction to perpetuate the impunity enjoyed by suspected Israeli war criminals; In addition, PCHR calls upon the international community to act in order to stop all Israeli settlement expansion activities in the oPt through imposing sanctions on Israeli settlements and criminalizing trading with them. *** Share the link of this article with your facebook friendsFair Use Notice This site contains copyrighted material the
