Several Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at daybreak Thursday following assaults on the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Several Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at daybreak Thursday following assaults on the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The Israeli army claimed responsibility for the abduction of 13 Palestinians on allegations of involvement in anti-occupation activities.

The campaign targeted four Palestinians from Ramallah province, four from Jenin, four from Beit Ummar, in al-Khalil, and another from Jerusalem’s eastern town of Abu Dis.

Three Palestinians were further kidnapped by the IOF from Nablus province.

A PIC news correspondent said heavily-armed Israeli patrols stormed Jenin’s southern town of Qabatiya and cordoned off residential neighborhoods before they rounded up four Palestinian youths, in their early 20s.

A PIC news correspondent identified the four arrestees as: Ihab al-Najma, Wael Zakarna, Mohamed Kmeil, and Ahmed Abu al-Rub.

The IOF reportedly rummaged into the detainees’ family homes before they dragged them to an unidentified destination.

At predawn time, Israeli troops sealed off the main access roads to the town with flying checkpoints.

The campaign culminated in the abduction of four Palestinians from al-Khalil’s northern town of Beit Ummar.

Spokesperson for the popular anti-wall committee, Mohamed Awad, said the IOF stormed the town and rummaged into civilian homes on claims of searching for weapons.

Four other youths were rounded up by the IOF in Aseida town and transferred to Etzion investigation center.

Meanwhile, the IOF terrorized civilians and rescinded 15 work permits of Palestinians working in 1948 occupied territories as part of a policy of collective punishment. Keywords : JeninIOFArrests

Amnesty International reports Israeli forces unlawfully killed Palestinian civilians, including children, in both Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories in 2016.

Amnesty International said in its annual report that Israeli forces unlawfully killed Palestinian civilians, including children, in both Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) over 2016.

Israeli forces also detained thousands of Palestinians from the OPT who opposed Israel’s continuing military occupation, holding hundreds in administrative detention, while torture and other ill-treatment of detainees remained rife and was committed with impunity, the report added.

The Israeli authorities continued to promote illegal settlements in the West Bank, including by attempting to retroactively “legalize” settlements built on private Palestinian land, and severely restricted Palestinians’ freedom of movement.

According to the report, Israeli forces continued to blockade the Gaza Strip, subjecting its population of 1.9 million to collective punishment, and to demolish homes of Palestinians in the West Bank and of Bedouin villagers in Israel’s Negev/Naqab region, forcibly evicting residents.

Amnesty pointed out that Israeli authorities continued to arrest hundreds of Palestinian children in the West Bank including East Jerusalem. Many were subjected to abuse by Israeli forces including beatings and threats.

Israeli forces killed 110 Palestinians and two foreign nationals during the year. Some were killed unlawfully while posing no threat to life.

 Israeli military bulldozers at daybreak Thursday launched a limited incursion into the eastern corners of Dair al-Balah province, in central Gaza Strip.

A PIC news correspondent said four Israeli army bulldozers deployed at the Kissufim military base moved a few meters into eastern Dair al-Balah province, in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Heavy damage is often wrought by such arbitrary incursions on Palestinian cultivated land tracts near the border fence.

Israeli bulldozers on Thursday morning leveled Palestinian lands in western Salfit province in favor of illegal settlement activity.

Palestinian farmers in Qarawat Bani Hassan and Deir Istiya, to the west of Salift, said the Israeli bulldozers have been leveling their land lots in an attempt to expand the adjacent Hafat Yair illegal settlement outpost.

The Israeli forces and settlers declared the razed area a nature reserve, preventing Palestinians from growing crops or reclaiming their private lands.

“The Israeli occupation authorities have made use of the nature reserve pretext not to protect nature, as it might seem upon first glance, but rather to grab more land in favor of illegal settlement expansion, as has been the case with Havat Yathir illegal outpost,” Researcher Khaled Maali warned.

Maali added that the occupation authorities and settlers have been doing harm to the ecological system and damaging Salfit’s fauna and flora by uprooting olive trees and razing pastoral land as they paved the way for the construction of more illegal homes in the area.

Hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed at daybreak Thursday Joseph’s Tomb, in eastern Nablus province, at the same time as Israeli soldiers rummaged into Palestinian homes in the area.

Buses carrying Israeli settlers flocked to Hawara checkpoint, south of Nablus, before they headed to Joseph’s Tomb via Beit Furik checkpoint.

The Israeli settlers performed sacrilegious rituals and chanted anti-Arab slogans, sparking tension in the area.

At the same time, Israeli army troops cordoned off Nablus’s eastern corners and were deployed at the main entrance to Balata Camp.

The Israeli forces further wreaked havoc on civilian homes in Balata on claims that a military patrol was targeted with gunfire.

Palestinian vehicles driving in the area have also been stopped and inspected by the occupation soldiers in search for alleged weapons.

Violent clashes burst out between the Israeli troops and the Palestinian anti-occupation protesters. An Israeli soldier reportedly sustained wounds in the confrontations.

Israeli Naval Occupation Forces Continue to Chase Palestinian Fishermen in Gaza Sea; 5 fishermen arrested, including a boy, 1 fisherman wounded and fishing boat confiscated

On Tuesday morning, 21 February 2017, Israeli occupation forces' gunboats chased and opened fire at a Palestinian fishing boat. As a result, 5 fishermen, including a boy, were arrested and the fishing boat was confiscated.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) noticed that Israeli forces have recently concentrated their attacks against fishermen in Gaza Sea, denying them access to their livelihood and free fishing in Gaza Sea.

According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately 07:30 on Tuesday, 21 February 2017, Israeli gunboats stationed off al-Wahah Shore, west of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats sailing within 3 nautical miles and then surrounded a fishing boat belonging to Sabri Mohammed Sa’id Baker (56).

The boat was manned by his 3 children, ‘Abdullah (19); Mahmoud (17) and Mohammed ‘Emran (23) in addition to Thabet Mohammed ‘Abdel Razeq Baker (20) and ‘Omer Mohammed Najib ‘Omer Baker (26). All the aforementioned fishermen live in al-Shati’ refugee camp in Gaza City.

Due to the shooting, Mohammed ‘Emran Baker was hit with a bullet to the left side of his waist and then transferred to Barzilai Hospital in Ashqelon for medical treatment.

The Israeli naval soldiers ordered the fishermen to take off their clothes, jump into the water and swim towards the gunboat. They were then arrested and taken to Ashdod Seaport while their boat and fishing net were kept in custody.

Wounded fisherman, Mohammed Baker, said to PCHR’s fieldworker that:

“Due to the heavy shooting at the boat we were on, I was hit with a bullet to the left side of the waist. When the Israeli naval soldiers ordered us to jump into the water, I told them I was wounded, so the soldiers took me to their gunboat’s board. They handcuffed and blindfolded me and then took me to Ashdod Seaport. They brought a doctor to medically examine my wound, and he asked to transfer me to the Barzilai Hospital in Ashqelon to receive medical treatment. At approximately 01:00 on the next day, I was released and taken by a Palestinian ambulance to al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City for medical treatment. Medical sources there described my wound as moderate.”

The Israeli forces released the four fishermen at approximately 23:00 on the same day while the wounded Mohammed Baker was released at approximately 01:00 on Wednesday, 22 February 2017.

PCHR strongly condemns the continued Israeli attacks against Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip and:

1. Calls for immediately ending the chasing policy of fishermen and allow them to sail and fish freely;

2. Demands compensation for victims of the Israeli violations for the physical and material damage; and

3. Calls upon the international community, including the High Contracting Parties to the 1949 Geneva Convention, to intervene to stop all Israeli violations against fishermen and their property and allow them to fish freely in Gaza Sea.

Army Abducts A Palestinian And His Sister Near Bethlehem

Several Israeli military vehicles invaded, Tuesday, the al-Khader town, south of West Bank city of Bethlehem, searched homes and abducted a Palestinian and his sister, in addition to summing their sister, and two former political prisoners, for interrogation.

The soldiers invaded, and violently searched several homes throughout the town, and abducted Saher Mahmoud Issa, and his sister Saja, in addition to summing their sister, Suzan, for interrogation in Etzion military base and security center, south of Bethlehem.

Media sources in al-Khader said dozens of soldiers, accompanied by army vehicles are still in the town, and around it.

The soldiers also invaded Doha nearby town, and summoned two former political prisoners, identified as Firas Aziyya and Anas Mallash, for interrogation in Etzion.

On Tuesday morning, Israeli navy ships attacked several Palestinian fishing boats, and opened fire on them, before abducting five fishers from the same family, and confiscated one of their boats.

On Tuesday at dawn, Israeli soldiers invaded the town of al-‘Eesawiyya, in occupied Jerusalem, violently searched and ransacked homes, and abducted five Palestinians, including three siblings.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Tuesday at dawn, the town of al-‘Eesawiyya, in occupied Jerusalem, violently searched and ransacked homes, and abducted five Palestinians, including three siblings.

The soldiers conducted several invasions into the town, overnight and during dawn hours, Tuesday, and clashed with dozens of youngsters, who hurled stones and empty bottles on them, while the soldiers fired rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs.

The soldiers also removed a tent that was installed by the locals who were preparing to celebrate the release of detainee Mohammad Zeidan, who is scheduled to be freed today, after spending fifteen years in Israeli prisons.

The soldiers wanted to stop the celebrations, and removed Palestinian flags, posters and pictures of the detainee, and all signs welcoming him back home, in addition to invading his father’s home, and threatening to abduct him should he and the locals celebrate his son’s release.

During the invasion, the soldiers abducted Mohammad Kayed Mahmoud, Shahin Oleyyan, and three siblings, identified as Samer, Mohannad and Sami Anwar Obeid; they were moved to the al-Maskobiyya detention and interrogation center, in west Jerusalem.

Israeli Soldiers Destroy An Internationally-Funded Drinking Water Pipeline

Israeli military bulldozers destroyed, Monday, a drinking water pipeline that was funded by The United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Central Plains of the occupied West Bank.

Mo’taz Bisharat, a Palestinian official in charge of Israeli colonies’ file at the Palestinian Authority in central West Bank, said many Israeli army jeeps and bulldozers invaded the area, during early morning hours, and destroyed a drinking water pipeline, providing water to Palestinian communities along the al-Hadeediyya and ar-Ras al-Ahmar areas.

Bisharat added that the pipeline provided clean drinking water to 47 families, and extended on 8.5 kilometers.

He also stated that the pipeline’s installation and equipment costs were 12500 euros, provided by the UNICEF to enable access to clean drinking water, and added that the soldiers confiscated large sections of the pipeline.

It is worth mentioning that this destruction is the second of its kind in one month.

Israeli Soldiers abduct 22 Palestinians In The West Bank

Israeli soldiers have abducted, overnight and at dawn Monday, at least twenty-two Palestinians, from various areas, in the occupied West Bank, and violently searched dozens of homes, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported.

The Hebron office of the PPS, in the southern part of the West Bank, said the soldiers invaded and searched homes in Surif and Beit Awwa towns, and abducted two Palestinians, while a third was taken prisoner at a roadblock in the city.

It stated that the soldiers abducted Ibrahim Mohammad Abu Fara, from Surif town, and Mahmoud Issa Abu Rezeq, from Beit Awwa.

The soldiers also abducted Morad ‘Ashour, after stopping him at a military roadblock, in Abu Sneina neighborhood, in the center of Hebron city.

In addition, the soldiers invaded Rommana village, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and abducted a former political prisoner, identified as Mahdi Mirshid Bushnaq, 42.

The soldiers also assaulted a Palestinian journalist, identified as Khaled Mohammad Bushnaq, 39, causing many cuts and bruises, and forced him to remove his clothes in the cold, under the allegation of searching him.

In addition, a large military force invaded Barta’a town, isolated behind the Annexation Wall, southwest of Jenin, and the Industrial Zone, and violently search many stores and buildings, after breaking into them.

Media sources in Jenin said the violent invasions, and searches, were carried out by the soldiers while a military helicopter flew overhead.

The soldiers also invaded Jenin refugee camp, before storming and searching homes, and abducted a young man, identified as Saleh Abu Zeina.

Also at dawn, the soldiers invaded Tal village, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, searched homes and abducted two young Palestinian men, identified as Mahmoud Saqer ‘Aseeda, 29, and Tawfiq al-Hindi, 27.

It is worth mentioning that Aseeda is a former political prisoner, who was frequently abducted and imprisoned by Israel, and was only released from a detention center less than three months ago.

In a statement, the Israeli army said its soldiers have arrested twenty-two Palestinians in the West Bank districts of Nablus, Jenin, Qalqilia, Ramallah and Al-Biereh, Jerusalem and Hebron.

Furthermore, Israeli military bulldozers destroyed a drinking water pipeline, providing the villages of ‘Atouf and al-Hadeediyya, in the West Bank’s northern plains, with the needed water.

Mo’taz Bisharat, a Palestinian official at the governate office in Tubas and the northern Plains, said the Israeli attack left more than 47 families without water.

He added that this was the second attack of its kind, carried out by the soldiers in the area, since the beginning of this year.

In related news, Israeli navy ships opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats Gazan territorial waters in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, and near the coast northwest of Gaza city.

Israeli Soldiers Attack The Weekly Procession In Kufur Qaddoum

Israeli soldiers invaded, Friday, the town of Kufur Qaddoum, in the northern West Bank district of Qalqilia, and attacked the weekly protest against the Annexation Wall and colonies, leading to clashes.

Murad Eshteiwy, the coordinator of the Popular Committee in Kufur Qaddoum, said several armored Israeli military vehicles invaded the town, and chased many young men.

He added that the soldiers fired rubber-coated bullets and gas bombs, while local youngsters hurled stones and bottles filled with paint on the invading military vehicles.

There have been no reports of injuries or arrests, and the soldiers left the town, after chasing many protesters and failing to abduct them.

The soldiers used their armored bulldozer to remove tires that some youngsters burnt in the street, to obstruct the military invasion.

Eshteiwy stated that the procession started peacefully, before the soldiers invaded the town, and that the protesters, accompanied by Israeli and international peace activists, marched while chanting for ending the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian, and ongoing popular resistance.

 

Many Injured After Israeli Soldiers Attack Weekly Nonviolent Procession In Ni’lin

Palestinian medics sources have reported, Friday, that many protesters, including three Israeli activists, suffered the severe effects of teargas inhalation, after Israeli soldiers attacked the weekly nonviolent procession in Ni’lin village, west of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.

The procession started on Friday afternoon, after the nonviolent protesters gathered in the yard of a local health center, and marched towards the Annexation Wall.

They chanted against the ongoing Israeli occupation, violations and escalating construction and expansion of illegal colonies on Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

They also called for dismantling the illegal Israeli Annexation Wall, separating the Palestinians from each other and their lands.

The soldiers fired many gas bombs and concussion grenade, causing scores of protesters to suffer the severe effects of teargas inhalation.

Also Friday, the soldiers invaded the town of Kufur Qaddoum, in the northern West Bank district of Qalqilia, and attacked the weekly protest against the Annexation Wall and colonies, leading to clashes.

 

Bil’in Marks Twelve Years Of Ongoing Struggle Against the Israeli Annexation Wall, Colonies

Scores of Palestinian, Israel and international peace activists marched, Friday, in Bil’in village, west of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, marking twelve years of ongoing nonviolent struggle, steadfastness and determination.

Photojournalist Haithem Khatib, from Bil’in, said a young man suffered a fracture in his leg, after the soldiers chased him while attempting to abduct him.

Khatib added that the soldiers reached the wounded young man, who was suffered severe pain due to the fracture, and other cuts and bruises, and left him on the ground.

Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, the secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, attended the procession and stated that “the racist Israeli apartheid wall will fall, just as the Berlin wall fell.”

Dr. Barghouthi added that Bil’in became the beacon for the ongoing struggle, and steadfastness, countering Israel’s escalating violations, the illegal Wall and colonies, built on Palestinian lands.

“For twelve years, the locals, Israeli and international peace activists have been protesting despite Israel’s aggression that led to many casualties, including serious injuries and fatalities,” he said, “Only ongoing resistance, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions will be able to counter the Israeli violations, and its apartheid system.”

It is worth mentioning that some protesters climbed the Annexation Wall, and raised Palestinian flags, in addition to opening the iron gate of the Wall, leading to clashes with the soldiers.

In addition, Palestinian medics sources have reported that many protesters, including three Israeli activists, suffered severe effects of teargas inhalation, after the soldiers attacked the weekly nonviolent procession in Ni’lin village, west of Ramallah.
