Israel Apartheid Regime Resumes Construction of Apartheid Wall Despite International Court Ruling, Ghassan Kanafani Remembered

August 28, 2015

Israeli apartheid resumes construction of apartheid wall despite International Court ruling, August 28, 2015.

Ghassan Kanafani revered Palestinian national icon, who was assassinated by Israeli agents in Beirut, in 1973.

Israel resumes construction of apartheid wall despite court ruling

August 28, 2015,  OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Israeli nature authority objected to the decision of the war ministry to resume construction of the separation barrier near Beit Jala, south of Occupied Jerusalem, after the Supreme Court had invalidated the building of the barrier in that region and ordered the government to reconsider it, Haaretz reported Thursday.

A few days ago the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) uprooted olive trees along the wall's route.

On Wednesday the IOA carried out large-scale excavations in the area.

The Palestinians along with adjacent Christian monasteries and Israelis residing in the illegal settlement of Gush Etzion have objected to the construction of the separation wall saying it rather affects the environment and is unnecessary for Israel’s security.

The IOA resumed construction of the wall after years of deliberations with the Supreme Court that culminated in recommendations to reconsider the planned route of the separation barrier in the area.

The war ministry, however, resumed its work on the wall without altering its route, promising to leave a 200-meter gap in the wall near the local monasteries.

Ghassan Kanafani revered national icon

August 28, 2015, GAZA, (PIC)--

Hamas has denied rumors on having removed the name of Ghassan Kanafani from one of Gaza’s schools, saying Kanafani is, and will forever remain, a key Palestinian icon.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press statement Thursday that Hamas has held contacts with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The Ministry assured Hamas that the school still bears the same name, he added.

Abu Zuhri said Hamas will never allow any party to show any sign of disrespect towards Palestinian national icons.

For his part, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Gaza, Ziad Thabet, denied rumors that the tag of a school bearing Ghassan Kanafani’s name in Rafah city, to the south of Gaza, might have been changed to the name of Marmara.

He said a new school for girls bearing the name Marmara and adjacent to Ghassan Kanafani’s was inaugurated last year and will start classes with the launch of the new academic year.

He added that the Marmara school is independent of the Ghassan Kanafani school and has a different teaching staff.

According to the official, the ministry can never change the tags of schools and institutions bearing the names of such revolutionary and outspoken national figures as Ghassan Kanafani.

4-year-old victim of Israeli arson attack: What was I burned for?

August 28, 2015, OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

“What was I burned for? Where is my family” were the very first words mumbled by four-year-old victim of an Israeli arson attack, Ahmad Saa’d Dawabsheh, after his health status has seen a slight improvement.

Ahmad’s brother, an 18-month toddler, was burned to death after Israeli vandals set fire to their family home in Duma. His father succumbed to his wounds few days later in the Soroka hospital in Beersheba.

“What was I burned for? Why am I held in this bed?” Ahmad asked his grandfather.

“Ahmad keeps asking me to contact his father to take him back home from the hospital,” Ahmad’s grandfather said.

“I want to go back home. Where is my young brother? Where is my mother?” his grandfather quoted him as wondering with tears in his eyes.

Both Ahmad and his mother underwent a skin grafting surgery. Medics said their health status is still critical despite the slight improvements in Ahmad’s health.

The grandfather called for urgently arresting the Israeli vandals who perpetrated the arson attack and prosecuting them without further delay.

Hamas: Ki-moon partner in Israel’s crimes

August 28, 2015, GAZA, (PIC)--

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the investigation broadcast by al-Jazeera on Israel’s violations of the truce accord in Rafah is another proof that Israel committed war crimes against Palestinians during last summer’s offensive on Gaza.

Abu Zuhri slammed, in statements posted on his Facebook page, UN’s Ban Ki-moon for having adopted the counterfeit Israeli version legitimizing the murder of over 170 civilians in Rafah.

Abu Zuhri called on UN’s Ki-moon to step down immediately and apologize to the Palestinian people for his involvement in Israel’s war crimes against the Palestinians.

A screened probe aired on al-Jazeera TV Channel on Thursday said Israel discovered the loss of the soldier Hadar Goldin two hours after an ambush was carried out by al-Qassam Brigades, proving that the Israeli army is responsible for breaching the truce.

According to al-Qassam’s version the clashes took place 25 minutes before the truce was put into effect.

The video report said the Israeli occupation army mistook the body of the resistance fighter Walid Tawfiq Mas’oud for that of the Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin during clashes that flared up prior to the violent bombardment of Rafah city.

Arab League slams Israel's attempts to ban Aqsa Mosque society

August 28, 2015, CAIRO, (PIC)--

The Arab League on Thursday strongly denounced the Israeli government's attempts to classify the society of the Aqsa Mosque "Murabetoun and Murabitat" as an illegal group and ban its activities.

The society of Murabetoun and Murabitat is a group of Palestinian Muslim men and women who stay in rotation inside the Aqsa Mosque to defend it against possible violations and desecration attempts by Jewish settlers and the Israeli authorities.

The general secretariat of the Arab League (Occupied Palestine Section) stated in a press release that the Israeli government's recent step against the society happened after minister of internal security Gilad Erdan had called on the war minister to classify the society of Murabetoun and Murabitat as illegal and ban its presence inside the Aqsa Mosque.

The Arab League described Erdan's call for banning the presence of the Muslim group inside the Mosque as "state terrorism" against the Palestinians who defend their holy sites.

It stressed that the Palestinians have the right under the international law to peacefully defend their holy places and confront Israel's Judaization plans.

The Arab League also condemned the Shin Bet and the attorney general of Israel for declaring their support for the desecration of the Aqsa Mosque by extremist Jewish groups and approving their calls for performing Talmudic rituals inside it.

It appealed to the international community and the UN to curb such Israeli racist and provocative practices against the Palestinians and their holy sites in order to avoid triggering a religious war in that sensitive region.

Israeli police bar two Aqsa school girls from entering Mosque

August 28, 2015, OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Israeli occupation police on Thursday banned the entry of two school girls to the Aqsa Mosque for several days and summoned a female photojournalist for interrogation.

Local sources reported that the Israeli police in Occupied Jerusalem ordered the students, Bara and Israa Gazzari, not to enter the Aqsa Mosque to attend their daily religious classes, which start from eight o'clock in the morning to two o'clock in the afternoon.

According to the police order, the entry ban against the students will be effective for only 15 days.

The two students condemned the decision as "unjust and racist", pointing out that the police accused them of assaulting one of their officers and throwing a water balloon at him.

The same sources added that the police in the holy city also detained photojournalist Zaina Qatmira, who works for Qudsna media center, during her presence at al-Silsila Gate of the Aqsa Mosque.

Qatmira was released later on condition of her return next Sunday to the police station in Qishleh area for interrogation.

Israel keeps silent over Hadar Goldin file

August 28, 2015, OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Israeli Occupation Authorities  (IOA) refused to comment on al-Qassam Brigades’ recent statements regarding the capture of the Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin in Gaza last year.

Spokesman for Israeli army refused to comment on the investigation broadcast by al-Jazeera TV Channel last night, during which Hamas’ armed wing denied the Israeli allegations saying that Hadar Goldin was killed during clashes with al-Qassam fighters.

A screened probe aired on al-Jazeera TV Channel on Thursday said Israel discovered the loss of the soldier Hadar Goldin two hours after an ambush was carried out by al-Qassam Brigades, proving that the Israeli army is responsible for breaching the truce.

According to al-Qassam, the clashes took place 25 minutes before the truce was put into effect.

The video report said the Israeli occupation army mistook the body of the resistance fighter Walid Tawfiq Masoud for that of the Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin during clashes that flared up prior to the violent bombardment of Rafah city.
