Israeli Occupation Army Assassinates A Palestinian In Gaza

Tuesday April 30, 2013 12:38 by IMEMC News

Tuesday April 30 2013, Palestinian medical sources reported that a Palestinian man was assassinated by an Israeli missile northwest of Gaza city; two Palestinians have been injured in the attack.

The sources said that the Israeli occupation army fired one missile at a motorcycle driven by Haitham Mis-hal, 29, leading to instant death while two residents were injured, and were moved to the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza.

Mis-hal is from the Ash-Shaty’ refugee camp; he worked as guard at the Ash-Shifa medical center.

Both of his legs were severed due to the blast; he also suffered various injuries that led to his death.

The attack was carried out shortly before a number of armored military vehicles invaded the Ash-Shujaeyya neighborhood, east of Gaza city.

The Shura Al-Mujaheddin Salafist group in Gaza, issued a press release stating that the fighter is one of its leaders.

Commenting on the assassination, an Israeli military official stated that Mas-hal is a prominent fighter who is allegedly responsible for firing dozens of shells into Israel, including missiles that were recently fired into Eilat.

Israeli Yedioth Aharonoth reported that the army obtained sensitive information about the activities of Mas-hal, and that he was near a Hamas-run training camp when he was targeted.

Meanwhile, the Middle East newspaper, based in London, reported that Hamas fighters have been deployed on border areas in Gaza in an attempt to prevent Palestinian armed groups from firing shells into Israel.

The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza removed its security forces and police from all border areas, and replaced them with fighters of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, in an attempt to prevent armed groups from firing shells into adjacent Israeli areas.

The move was seen as an attempt to prevent further military escalation with Israel at the current stage.

Mizan calls for world intervention to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza

[ 30/04/2013 - 06:42 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

A human rights center lashed out at the persistent Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people the latest of which being the murder of a man riding a motorbike in Gaza on Tuesday.

The Mizan center for human rights warned that a large-scale Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip was in the offing.

The center charged in a statement that the Israeli violations of the calm agreement did not cease ever since the agreement was concluded in November last year.

It pointed to the Israeli occupation forces daily incursions, bulldozing land, shooting at citizens in borders areas, chasing and harassing fishermen, and maintaining the blockade on the coastal enclave.

Mizan asked the world community to immediately act to bridle the Israeli aggression and to assume its legal and ethical duties represented in protecting Palestinian civilians and oblige Israel to abide by the international humanitarian law.

Palestinian factions discuss Israeli occupation breaches of the truce

[ 30/04/2013 - 01:47 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

National and Islamic Forces called on the Arab Republic of Egypt to compel Israel to abide by the truce and stop violating it, and to continue its efforts to end the division and achieve Palestinian reconciliation.

This came during a special meeting held by the National and Islamic Forces on Monday to discuss the current developments, particularly the developments in the national reconciliation file and the Israeli threats to the Palestinian people.

The forces stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of what has been agreed upon in Cairo and Doha to ensure the end of the division, the restoration of national unity and the formation of a national consensus government.

They also demanded the interim leadership framework of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) to hold a meeting to discuss ways of implementing the reconciliation agreement and to determine the date of the elections.

National and Islamic Forces have also discussed during their meeting the recent Israeli escalations against the Palestinian people in general and the Gaza Strip in particular, and held the occupation responsibility for all the repercussions arising there from.

The factions urged the international community to intervene to stop the escalation, and called on Egypt to continue its role in obliging the occupation to abide by the truce agreement.

Barhoum: Israeli escalation serious, unjustified

[ 30/04/2013 - 01:51 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, has charged that the Israeli military escalation against the Gaza Strip was “serious and unjustified”.

He told the PIC on Tuesday that targeting a Palestinian citizen in central Gaza earlier today was meant to create tension with Gaza in a bid to cover up for the unprecedented escalation in Judaization efforts in occupied Jerusalem.

Barhoum held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for consequences of that escalation.

For his part, Taher Al-Nunu, the Gaza government’s spokesman, denounced the aerial attack that killed a Palestinian man and wounded two others.

He warned Israel, in a statement to Quds Press, of the repercussions of such a serious escalation, describing it as the most serious violation since the end of the war on Gaza last November.

Nunu called on Cairo to assume its responsibility and force Israel to abide by the calm agreement signed with the Palestinian resistance under Egyptian auspices.
