[ 10/07/2012 - 10:11 AM ]

KHAN YOUNIS, (PIC)--

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) advanced into southern Gaza Strip areas to the east of Khan Younis on Tuesday, eyewitnesses said.

They said that the soldiers mounting ten armored vehicles escorted a number of bulldozers and stationed near Abassan town.

In a related development, Palestinian resistance fighters engaged an IOF unit between Abassan and Qarara, locals said, adding that violent clashes erupted and Israeli army choppers arrived and sprayed the area with machinegun fire.

Israeli warplanes earlier Tuesday bombarded two areas in southern Gaza with no casualties suffered.

Israeli Warplanes Continue to Bombard Gaza

Tuesday July 10, 2012 13:49 by Jack Muir - IMEMC & Agencies

In a continuation of Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza, Israeli occupation forces jets attacked several locations on Tuesday morning in the southern part of the Gaza strip. No injuries have been reported.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Israeli jets fired missiles at sites in Khan Younis and Rafah. Israel claimed direct hits on areas being used by Palestinian resistance fighters. Although some material damage was caused by the Israeli bombs, nobody was injured in the strikes.

Periodic spells of aerial bombardment have regularly struck Gaza since the withdrawal of Israeli settlers. The coastal enclave has been blockaded by Israel for five years, with an increase in strikes in the last month following a period of relative calm. In one week in June, 16 Palestinians, including 4 children, were killed by Israeli airstrikes. A further 73 were reported injured.

Israel claims such attacks are in retaliation for activity by Palestinian resistance groups. The international community has condemned the disproportionate use of force by Israel in the Gaza strip, which is home to 1.7 million people, and is the most densely populated part of the world.

They added that five others were rounded up in Al-Khalil city, Ramallah, Jenin, and Nablus after storming and ransacking their homes.

The sources said that the detainees were taken to detention centers near to their places of residence for intelligence interrogation.

GAZA, (PIC)--

Israeli warplanes launched two air raids on southern Gaza Strip at dawn Tuesday without inflicting any casualties, local sources said.

They told the PIC reporter that the first raid targeted a training site for the Ahrar movement west of Khan Younis, noting that a powerful explosion was heard after the bombing.

The sources said that another raid targeted a deserted area west of Rafah.

Report: Israel conducts major night diggings under Al-Maghariba Gate

[ 10/07/2012 - 10:08 AM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage said Israeli motortrucks at dawn Monday kept transferring soil and stones from beneath Al-Maghariba Gate ramp in Al-Buraq square west of the Aqsa Mosque.

The foundation added that about 30 workmen were seen digging and loading up the trucks with soil and stones.

The workmen used hand-digging tools to avoid making noise and attracting attention to the Israeli violations against the Islamic holy sites, according to reliable eyewitnesses.

They affirmed that these diggings have been taking place for several days after midnight in order not to draw the attention of Palestinian residents in the area and the officials responsible for protecting the Islamic holy sites.

The Aqsa foundation warned that the Israeli regime is committing another crime against Al-Maghariba Gate area, which is part of the Aqsa Mosque, and called for swift Islamic and Arab moves to stop this violation against the Mosque.
