US-led airstrike kills 5 Afghans

 US-led soldiers in Afghanistan A US-led air strike has killed at least five civilians in Afghanistan's Ghazni province, Press TV reports.

Hundreds of civilians have lost their lives in US-led airstrikes and ground operations in various parts of Afghanistan over the past few months, with Afghans becoming more and more outraged over the seemingly endless number of deadly assaults.

Civilian casualties caused by the US-led NATO attacks have been a major source of tension between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the military alliance.

Afghans have held several protests against NATO over the issue of civilian casualties.

US drone attack injures 20 in Somalia

A US Predator drone firing two Hellfire missiles (file photo) A US drone strike has wounded at least 20 civilians, including a number of women in southern Somalia, Press TVreports.

The aerial attack took place Tuesday night near the town of Kismayu.

Eight women were among the wounded.

The United States has increased the number of such attacks, using the unmanned surveillance aircraft in the Horn of Africa state. Many civilians have died as a result.

Somalia is the sixth country where US military has engaged in unauthorized aerial bombing campaigns through the use of its remote-controlled aircraft.

The United States has also deployed its so-called drones for aerial attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen.

Washington claims the airstrikes target militants, though most of such attacks have mostly resulted in civilian casualties.
