Ahlam al-Tamimi arrives in Amman to a hero’s welcome

AMMAN, (PIC)-- Freed Jordanian captive Ahlam al-Tamimi arrived Tuesday night to a hero's welcome as hundreds of Palestinians and Jordanians waited for her arrival at Queen Alia Airport in Amman.

As well as her family members, hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood activists and trade unionists as well as ordinary citizens gathered at Queen Alia Airport to welcome Tamimi. They raised Palestinian flags as well as Hamas banners and chanted in support of the resistance who achieved the exchange deal.

Tamimi gave a short speech which was interrupted many times by applause and chants of support.

“The message of the Palestinian people is: liberate Palestine and the Aqsa Mosque,” she said and greeted the Qassam Brigades who captured along with two other resistance factions the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and exchanged him for Palestinian captives.

Not forgetting those she left behind in occupation jails she said: “By Allah Ibrahim Hamed, Mahmoud Isa, Hasan Salameh, Abu Al-Heija and Al-Barghouthi are more deserving to be in my place [free],”. Tamimi's meeting with Mishaal in Cairo before leaving to Jordan Tamimi was born in 1980 in Zerka, in Jordan to a family which hail from the village of Nabi Mousa near Ramallah. She completed her schooling in Zerka, then travelled to the West Bank to study Media and Journalism at Birzeit.

With only one term left until her graduation, the 2001 al-Aqsa Intifada [The Second Palestinian Uprising] broke out across the Occupied Palestinian Territories bringing with it unprecedented levels of violence and repression at the hands of the Israeli authorities. This was exemplified by the horrific assassination policy implemented by the successive governments led by the war criminals, Ehud Barak and Ariel Sharon.

She presented a programme, called 'Independence' on a local television broadcasting out Ramallah, which monitored the illicit practices of the Occupation. Through her journalistic work for this program, Ahlam collided with the bitter reality and the tragic stories and tales of woe being caused by the Occupation.

She was serving 16 life sentences, accused of transporting Ezziddin Al-Masri, who is affiliated with the Qassam Brigades and who carried out the bombing at Sparo restaurant in Jerusalem in 2001.

Aruri: Nine women will be freed soon from Israeli jails

DAMASCUS, (PIC)--

Senior Hamas official in charge of prisoners' file Salah Al-Aruri said the remaining nine Palestinian female political prisoners would be freed from Israeli jails within days.

"According to the pledges made by our Egyptian brothers, the nine female prisoners will be released within days and ahead of the second stage of the deal," Aruri told the Palestinian information center (PIC) on Wednesday.

The Hamas official also told the PIC, commenting on Israel's threat to harm the freed Palestinian prisoners, that there was no guarantee that Israel would not attack or recapture those prisoners in particular.

"The only guarantees we have is to respond to any aggression [by Israel]. We did not get a signature or pledge that there would be no assault on the prisoners released," the official added.

He also warned the Israeli occupation government that the Palestinian resistance has the right to resort to all means in order to release more prisoners from its jails.

"There must be no red lines for the release of our prisoners from the occupation's jails."

Abu Marzouq: Egypt exerting efforts to release remaining female prisoners

CAIRO, (PIC)--

Deputy political bureau chairman of Hamas Dr. Moussa Abu Marzouq said that Egypt was exerting “big efforts” to secure the release of the remaining nine Palestine female political prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.

He said in a TV statement on Tuesday that most probably those detained women would be freed in the second batch of prisoners who would be released after two months.

Abu Marzouq said that all Palestinian prisoners should be released, adding, “We are entitled to exert all efforts with all available means to release our brothers from Israeli jails.

The Hamas leader said that there were no secret articles in the exchange deal.

Israel threatens to recapture freed prisoners in West Bank

RAMALLAH, (PIC)--

The Israeli occupation government (IOG) has imposed strict security measures on freed Palestinian prisoners and threatened to arrest them anew in the event they did not obey those orders.

Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot said on Wednesday quoted Israeli security sources as saying that almost half of the released prisoners in the West Bank signed pledges before their release.

These pledges compelled some of them to remain in their hometowns for years while others were forced to appear before the army’s coordination and liaison directorates at least once monthly, the sources added.

They said that if the freed prisoners did not comply they would be arrested and returned to serve their sentences in full even if they were life sentences.

Meanwhile, the Tadamun foundation for human rights said that the IOG blocked the wife of a liberated prisoner from leaving to Jordan to meet her husband who was among those banished to Qatar.

It said that the wife of Abdul Hakim Hanini from Beit Dajan village to the east of Nablus was not allowed to cross into Jordan while her husband’s parents and her three children were allowed to cross.
