French Ship to Join International Flotilla to Break Israeli Siege of Gaza in June 2011 French aid convoy to set sail to Gaza late June [ 10/05/2011 - 12:45 PM ] PARIS, (PIC)-- Activists are gearing to launch a new Gaza aid ship from the French port city Marseille late this June. It comes a year after Israel lethally attacked the Freedom Flotilla late last May killing nine and injuring dozens. Organizers managed to pile enough funds to rent the French ship in time for the third week in June when the second Freedom Flotilla is expected to head to Gaza, said the ship's French spokesman. The flotilla will include 15 to 20 ships and will carry some 1,000 passengers from several international ports, including Marseille. The French activists operating the ship took part in the first flotilla launched last year, but they did not then rent their own ship. The French ship will include public figures, government representatives, technicians and athletes, In a statement, the activists on board are motivated by that 80 percent of Gazans have relied on humanitarian aid and 60 percent are malnourished. They said Israel has no choice but to allow them to reach the shores of Gaza or to attack them.
