A glimmer of hope that the truth about Australia's intelligence Middle East extremism has emerged with the appointment of Tasmanian Independent MP Andrew Wilkie. Asem Judeh, AMPC president, says Mr Wilkie has been a beacon of hope in his noble willingness to expose the truth over the Iraq war intelligence.

"Mr Wilkie clearly puts truth above all else," says Judeh. "Even to the extent of being prepared to suffer personally and have to endure abuse and lies made against him. His appointment to the Parliamentary Joint Committee of Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) represents some hope that the truth about ASIO's deliberate misleading of the parliament about what is happening in Israel and Palestine."

Judeh says ASIO has made deliberate misleading assessment reports about Palestinian groups including
Hamas Brigades. He says only Muslim organisations have been listed as terrorist organisations, revealing
how extremist the ASIO intelligence is. "There is never any consideration of Israel's flouting of human
rights and more than 60 years of ethnic cleansing, violence and killing against the indigenous people.
ASIO’s misleading assessment reports not only considered to be contempt of parliament, but it gives
Israel free license to kill and terrorise Palestinian people. It supports Israeli government sponsored
terrorism!

"ASIO and other intelligence organisations must remain above the politics of the day and report to the
government true and accurate facts without fear or favour," says Judeh. "Mr Wilkie, in taking his
courageous stance about Iraq showed that he was able to do that. The fact that he was the only person
in the lead up to the Iraq war to take such a step is, sadly, revealing. But to have a person of such
integrity on the board of the PJCIS) is a sign of hope that the truth will finally be told, and the
decades of lies will not continue."
