11 Israeli Soldiers Killed, 48 Injured, 7 Tanks Destroyed, Palestinian Missiles and Rockets Launched at Israeli Military Bases and Towns in 10th Day

The following news could not be verified independently in the sense that the Israeli occupation forces do not allow verification when it comes to Israeli military casualties. However, yesterday the Israelis admitted that they lost contact with one Israeli soldier, which could be support for the news that Hamas captured two Israeli soldiers yesterday.

7 IOF tanks destroyed, one helicopter downed and 11 soldiers killed

The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said on Sunday night that its fighters killed 11 IOF soldiers and wounded 48 others since the start of the land offensive 24 hours ago.

The sources said that five soldiers were killed on Saturday night and six others were killed on Sunday, amongst them an officer with the rank of Colonel.

The Israeli occupation admitted to only one soldier being killed and 30 others wounded.

Meanwhile, Abu Ahmad, the spokesman of the Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, said that Palestinian resistance factions managed to destroy seven IOF tanks int eh Zaitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, pointing out that the invading troops fell in many ambushes carefully prepared by the Palestinian resistance.

Abu Ahmad added that the battle has not started yet as there are thousands of resistance fighters waiting for the invading forces.

The Qassam Brigades, for its part, said that its fighters destroyed two IOF tanks using B-29 anti-armour rockets.

Furthermore, the Qassam Brigades, said on Sunday morning that its fighters managed to hit an Israeli helicopter.

This was confirmed by Dizzi Rizova, the correspondent of the Bulgarian daily "telegraph" telling al-Jazeera.net that she saw the pilot parachuting, adding that he was not wearing paratroopers uniform which means he bailed out of the aircraft.

Israeli sources: Five Israeli occupation soldiers injured during fights with resistance fighters in Gaza

The Israeli occupation terrorist forces announced that five Israeli occupation soldiers where injured on Monday during armed calashes with Palestinian resistance fighter in Gaza.  

The sources said that the five sustained light wounds and where moved to hospitals inside Israel for treatment.  

According to the Israeli occupation terrorist forces, invading Israeli occupation soldiers are clashing with resistance fighters in Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoon in the northern part of the Gaza Strip on Monday.  

Moreover the Israeli occupation terrorist army announced that Israeli occupation terrorist air forces have shelled 30 targets overnight and Monday at dawn.  

The Israeli occupation terrorist forces started its military offensive last Saturday, December 27th, 2008, a week and a half after the six-month-long Egyptian-mediated ceasefire finished, on December 16th 2008. The death toll in Gaza by Monday morning reached 525 with 2490 injured including 200 in critical conditions due to the Israeli fire.

Report: Six Israeli occupation soldiers injured in Gaza City

Six Israeli occupation soldiers were injured in clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters at the Zaytoon neighborhood of Gaza City at dawn.

According to Radio Israel, the Israeli occupation terrorist soldiers were moderately injured, yet an Israeli electronic website said two soldiers were evacuated to Beilinson Hospital near Tel Aviv by helicopter.

In a different regard, Israeli TV affirmed that military censorship prevented Israeli and international journalists from interviewing Israeli soldiers who were injured in the Gaza Strip.

In general the Israeli Israeli occupation terrorist forces leadership is making very little information about their operation public.

Palestinian fighters launch projectiles at Israeli towns, resist invasion

Palestinian fighters continues to fire homemade projectiles into Israel on Monday despite ten days of intense Israeli military operations in Gaza the Israeli government says is aimed at stopping the rockets.

Amongst the targets was an Israeli air force base which Palestinian military organizations say was targeted for the first time.

According to Israeli sources, a Grad missile landed on Monday in near the coastal city of Isdood, and six homemade projectiles landed in Asqalan, also on the coast, closer to Gaza. Several mortar shells also landed in the Shaar Hanegev area east of the Strip.

There were no reports of casualties.

Hamas’ military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for firing two Grad missiles at an air force base called Hatsur in Kiryat Malachi for the first time.

The group claimed also that two Israeli soldiers were shot in Beit Lahiya and one in Beit Hanoon in the northern Gaza Strip.

Al-Qassam added that its fighters targeted a tank with a rocket-propelled Grenade (RPG). Two other RPGs were fired at Israeli bulldozer and tank in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Furthermore, the military group said 30 homemade projectiles and dozens of mortar shells were launched towards Israeli towns. They added that their fighters detonated an underground explosive device as Israeli personnel carrier passed over it in Beit Hanoon.

Meanwhile, a military group calling itself Jaysh Al-Umma (Army of the Nation) claimed responsibility for firing three mortar shells at a convoy of Israeli tanks near a car dealership in eastern Gaza City.

For its part, Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for detonating a landmine under an Israeli tank at the Zaytoon neighborhood in Gaza City.
