Arab leaders to discuss railway, road network at Kuwait summit CAIRO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of Arab countries will probe a draft plan at an upcoming Arab socio-economic summit in Kuwait to establish a network of railway and land roads linking the Arab world, the Egyptian MENA news agency reported on Wednesday. The Arab project, which was designed to promote land and railway transport cooperation among Arab countries and boost inter-Arab trade, has been approved recently by the Arab transport ministers, said the report. After the approval of Arab leaders, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development will finance the railway projects in cooperation with Arab countries concerned. According to the draft plan, the project includes the establishment of border checkpoints, logistic centers for goods and motels along the checkpoints to serve passengers. The Arab socio-economic summit was scheduled to be held in Kuwait from Jan. 19 to 20, during which Arab leaders are expected to discuss a number of issues to enhance Arab economic cooperation.
