Arab League chief sees unified Arab stance
Sharm Al Sheikh, Egypt |By Dahi Hassan Gulf News

-

Amr Moussa, Arab League Secretary General, yesterday told Gulf News that "all indications show that the forthcoming Arab Summit will adopt a unified stance on the Iraqi crisis.

"You see representatives of all Arab countries are taking part in preparation for the summit to be held here on March 1. We have had very fruitful and open discussions on the Iraqi crisis. There are strong indications of a powerful unified Arab stance on this very serious matter," Moussa told Gulf News while leaving the conference hall where the first session of the preparatory meeting of permanent representatives of the Arab countries to the Arab League was held.

Moussa told reporters later that the delegates held "rich discussions during the first session and discussions will continue to draw the summit agenda before  they are discussed by Arab foreign ministers today."

Ibrahim Ali Al Majid, Bahraini Ambassador to Cairo and the Permanent Representative to the Arab League, said that the delegates "unanimously" appr-oved the items on the summit agenda.

Ambassador Mohammed Subaih, Palestinian representative, told Gulf News that the Arab-Israeli conflict will also be a "major topic" on the summit agenda.

Sources said "a mini-Arab summit comprising of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, and Bahrain might be held before Saturday, in a bid to heal rifts.
