2 Palestinians, 2 Israelis killed and 7 injured in 3 attacks

A Palestinian martyr/suicide bomber detonated his bomb prematurely near a fast food stand, in West Jerusalem, today. He killed himself and injured seven Israelis. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades announced its responsibility for the bomb and said that it was in revenge for the victims of the Gaza massacre, in which Israelis used one-ton bomb to kill and injure 170 Palestinians in Gaza, on 7/23/02.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades also announced its responsibility for an attack on Israeli settlers in Itamar settlement, near Nablus, in the occupied Palestinian territory of th West Bank. The attack resulted in killing the Palestinian attacker and injuring two Israeli settlers he stabbed with his knife.

The Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian villages of Jama'in and Huwara. They damaged property and burned crops of the two villages. Two settlers were killed during the rampage but there are no reports about Palestinian human losses, yet (MBC TV, 7/30/02).

Jessie Jackson urges the Israeli government to allow Palestinian food trucks to enter Palestinian cities from Jericho and Jordan.

Rev. Jessie Jackson is visiting Israel and Palestine, heading a US delegation of Christians, Muslims, and Jews. They visited Ramallah and Bethlehem and saw the degree of destruction Israelis inflicted on the Palestinian occupied territories. They were not allowed to visit several Palestinian refugee camps because of the curfews imposed on them and to hide the degree of destruction and deterioration there. Jackson told MBC that he would ask the Israeli Defense Minister, Ben Eliezer, when he meets with him today, to allow Palestinian trucks which carry food to leave Jericho to other Palestinian cities, which suffer from food shortages (MBC TV, 7/30/02).

Comment: Ben Eliezer was surprised that somebody still cares about Palestinians in the world. After what Israel had done against them in 35 years of brutal Israeli occupation, particularly since April 2002, he expected that people of the world, generally, and Israelis in particular, do not care about anything, anymore. They were silent when the bomb was used 47 times before and they should not have been surprised when it was used again.  Is he right? Has Israel succeeded in making people num and indifferent? Are there still people with conscience, like Yusi Sarid, anywhere in the world who care enough to stand up and say no to the mad Zionists who rule Israel? Neither President Bush nor any senior member of his administration came out to condemn the Gaza massacre, loud and clear, like they used to condemn Palestinians as "terrorists" every time there was a suicide bomb. None of them condemned Sharon and Ben Eliezer as terrorists, as they are, and as they have admitted that they knew that there would be Palestinian civilian victims. The US established media went through the same path. None of them described the Israeli air raid as a "terrorist" attack, as they have done all along when Israeli civilians were targeted by Palestinians. Is it the old-fashioned double standard or the Israeli hegemony or both? God help the Iraqi people, when the bombs start to fall on Baghdad shortly.
