Chavez's Tirade Brings Chomsky to the fore, (where he belongs)

Dear Editor:

God bless Noam Chomsky, God bless Hugo Chavez, God bless President Ahmadinejad, God bless William Delahunt!

Gratefully, the blessed spirit of Dissent has been revived by those mentioned above, also by those who do not live here, and who know better than a lot of people who do live here.

Because of them, the bright light of dissent has returned, and the desire for freedom is now present in America, where it belongs. Healthy Dissent is the best forerunner of freedom. Healthy Dissent can prevent wars, if given some space, or--if repressed--let it seek its own wider space.

We have forgotten for the most part, Patrick Henry's words:

"Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!"

Let us thank the above-named, for their great spirit and courage for speaking out. Let us seek the truth, rather than accept what we are being fed. Beware of the words and Straussian ideology of the Neocons, and also the idiots at FoxNews, and other false prophets. There are too many of them, and not enough dissenters.

Perhaps we will see more signs of this progress in the coming announcements in the United States press, sometimes called the "presstitute." It is time for a change.

The Christian right tries to muscle a Pompano Beach Islamic congregation

The previous Friday, on the Steve Kane Show, a conservative South Florida AM commute-filler, Dozier had dubbed Islam 'a religion that is designed to cut off your head.' Almost as an afterthought, he labeled its followers 'evil, corrupt, bad people.'

Not only were his remarks inflammatory but they were political nitroglycerin in this diverse coastal town, where modest plans for a new mosque on a vacant lot had been wending their way through the city and county committees that review plans for construction projects. Dozier and his flock suddenly threatened to ratchet up tensions between religious groups that had coexisted quietly in Pompano Beach for at least a generation.

Dozier, who shepherds the Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach, has long been a fiery spokesman for conservative Christian causes. That gastrointestinal theologizing apparently hadn’t offended Gov. Jeb Bush’s sensibilities: In 2001, Bush appointed Dozier to the Broward Judicial Nominating Commission, which helps recommend new candidates for the bench.
