THE CAUSES OF MUSLIM ALIENATION Following the London train bombings, Blair and his cabinet were aghast to know that the suspected bombers, were all born and bred British Muslims. A strong revulsion of 'Et tu Brutus' set in, as Britishers had the general impression that Muslim immigrants are having a roaring time in their new country and could not believe that British Muslims by and large and so completely alienated and against Blair's decision to join Bush and invade Iraq, a Muslim country. After a flurry of condemnation, the British government and public organisation are busy trying to find out what had gone wrong and what could be done to eliminate Muslim alienation within the country and how their right to be heard in national and international affairs as full citizens of United Kingdom could be reinforced in the polity. A similar case seems to be dawning on Mumbai police. As per an Indian Express report, police has come out with details of a confession by one Faisal Shaikh, a reported SIMI member, who is supposed to have confessed of his involvement in the planned bombings on Mumbai local train network and as police record itself shows, he cited atrocities heaped on Indian Muslims during Mumbai and Gujarat riots as the main reason for his alienation and his prime motivation for revenge. It is time for Mumbai police specially and Congress/NCP in general spare time to reflect how their own failure to protect Muslims in Mumbai riots had become the main cause of such alienation of some of the younger generation hot-heads. Sadly, Mumbai police is so thoroughly controlled by communal extremist politicians, from practically all Brahmanical political parties, that it will be a miracle, if they could pause from their blame game and turn their gaze on their own less than exemplary performance during the communal riots of the 90's.
