Saddam and Iraq on Trial

Dear Editor,

As I’ve watched and listened to coverage of Saddam Hussein’s trial, I am stuck not by what is discussed but what has been left out!

This current sideshow is a thinly veiled, awkward at best attempt by the U.S and Great Britain to exonerate themselves of any or all responsibility for its their actions in the region, and represents yet another sorry chapter of Western involvement in Iraq based upon deception, hypocrisy, betrayal and denial.

In addition, the non discussion of U.S and U.K involvement in the Middle East by political pundits on U.S and British televised networks and newspapers, as well as the glaring avoidance of documentation on this subject, speaks volumes of the forces pushing for this trial.

While reporters and commentators openly discuss Iraq’s invasion of Iran, Iraq’s arms programs during Saddam Hussein’s rule, the execution of Kurds and Shia at the hands of Saddam Hussein and, U.N enforced U.S/U.K backed sanctions deployed against Saddam Hussein for failure to comply with U.N inspectors, they neglected to discuss;

U.S and U.K Support for Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war (most likely to exact revenge against Iran for deposing a Pro-Western leader installed by the U.S and Great Britain in the 1953 coup conducted by the CIA), the use of Mustard gas on the Kurds by Britain in the 1920’s and the fact that those sanctions imposed on Saddam Hussein for his actions in the region directly resulted in the deaths of approximately one half million Iraqi children.

When are Western countries going to take responsibility for an absolutely shameful history in the region and cease the whitewashing?

This shameful, reprehensible, irresponsible exercise in denial of history by the West, (more specifically the U.S and U.K), has resulted in a deep worldwide distrust of both countries!

We Need A Fence?

A time to wonder what is happening to America: If you visit the Ronald Reagan Library at Simi Valley, Ca, don't miss a broken piece of now extinct "Berlin Wall," with an inscription of a Reagan quote: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall"!! Reagan had implied how the Wall represented "Imprisoning of Freedom" !!

Then consider that a decade later America funded the building of the Israeli Wall, way higher, way wider, way longer, way more intrusive than the Berlin Wall ever had been!! And now, a Conservative Republican Group, having stolen a line from, of all people, Martin Luther King and naming themselves "Let Freedom Ring", want your money to build a WALL even bigger, on the Southern Border.

Know who stared it all? An "Ugly American" intellectual named Samuel Huntington, who in the 90's wrote and sold to the Neocons a book named "Clash of Civilization" in which he replaced the Commies with Islam as the new "Enemy." And after they got that war started, he wrote another book - "Who Are We?" in which he identified the Latinos as the "Next big threat." This is what its all about -- hate, fear, destroy, and do it with lies, the most effective weapon a Nazi named Joseph Goebbels showed them it works!

www.FactCheck.org breaks the bubble of yet another set of lies and scare mongering, which has become the foundation of the people who have hijacked America. Please beware -- everything that America stands for is being destroyed, brick by brick, while you sit numbed and scared!
