A vote for Blair is a vote for a pre-emptive attack on Iran

Laugh if you want, but Blair will compulsively support an "absurd" preventative attack on Iran this summer.

In fact, I bet Blair has already given Great Britain's support (in principle) for US preventative aerial bombardment of Iran if the EU3/Iranian talks break down (as they were expected to do when the EU3 insisted on Iran giving up their legal right to enrich uranium under the NPT).

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

This is Blair's last election, so he probably figures that he can retire after endorsing another military adventure, and Labor can nominate another leader who can disavow Blair's mistakes.

Brad Arnold.

Yes Larry Franklin was spying for Israel and passing INTEL through AIPAC what's new there.
BUT the real question will be was his boss Douglas Feith who was till recently the number three at the Pentagon Letters to the Editor, February 5, 2005
and a past Advisor to butcher Sharon, and Feiths fellow NECONS at the Pentagon making policy regarding invading Iraq for the benefit of Israel. Leading to the violent deaths of American Troops and Iraqis?

Moussaoui's Mother Says Son is 'Scapegoat'

I don't believe for a moment this guy had anything to do with Sept. 11th, and I too agree with his mother he is a scapegoat. I am wondering why he is admitting guilt to this though.

This reminds me of the Oklahoma City bombing and Timothy McVeigh admitting guilt as well. There was too much evidence to the contrary that he had anything to do with that and that the US Feds were behind that one, as they are behind 911.

These admissions of guilt make the evidence and those trying to get at the truth much more difficult. I do however have compassion for this man's present condition and cannot judge his actions with regard to that.

With deep compassion for this man's mother and family.

Sincerely,

an American, upset with the Regime that has taken hold of our Government

Prayer for World Peace

For Immediate Release Contact Information:

In these times of violence and hatred around the world, a new grassroots group is putting forth an old idea — prayer for peace.

What’s new is that the international World Peace Prayer group is using the Internet at www.worldpeaceprayer.com  to encourage people all over the world to participate. Their goal is for 6 million people to commit to joining this once weekly prayer for peace — all praying the same short prayer simultaneously with a choice of two prayer times.

The peace group believes in the power of prayer by many to overcome world hatreds … one individual, one nation at a time. They are hoping to encourage world leaders and people of influence, as well as the average citizen, to lend their voices to this effort. You can sign up at their website, where they will soon begin listing the number of member commitments.

"Israeli land grab methods as exposed in Bal'een events: The uncovering of the under cover agents "

I was glad to see the undercover agents being exposed as they were the cause of any physical violence in the protest. I was saddened to read in the different accounts of that day, of the violence of the attacks on the protestors and present and past Kenesset members who were participating. It makes me wish, not to get hurt, but to be present and let my face be counted as well as my words.

It really isn't too surprising but it needs to be exposed. Much of what happens in the Territory of Palestine has some background instigation from israel in some form or another. I hear people critisizing the 2nd Intifada as if there had been no provication for the firing of rockets and of suicide bombers, as if no incursion or death had just happened previously started by-Israel. The inoccuious walk into Al Aqusa Al Sharif was planned with a pretty sure bet what the reaction would be. It laucned a 4 1/2 year blood bath on both nations and covered the land grabbing with only reports of the fighting, not the increased settlements and land grabbing. It was a good cover for the illegal actions of Israel.

The attitude I hear from Israelis is the more they fight and resist, "the more land we take". So go ahead and have another battle. "Each one will cost you in land".

The biased media of course, only has been parroting Israeli /American policy. I am glad to see so many catching a glimps of the truth and begining to expose it. The article "Bush and Blair Created Reasons to Go to War" By US Congressman John Conyers is a good example of this. Larry Franklin is charaged with provided the Israeli Embassy in Washington with secret US government information and with providing secret defense and policy information to AIPAC. Do you think that he has had much more than passing mention in my local news media? I can answer that, NO! There is a lot of real news that is not getting it's fair share of coverage.

I have been re-reading Senator Byrd's Senate Speaches in the time leading into the Invasion and early part of the war in Iraq. Here was another man with some good insight into the realities of the politics and financial ramifications involved. I would like to do a compilation of facts from those speaches that shows how much Congress and our polititians really knew going into this fiasco.

I am encouraged to see such a great mix of journalists and polititians being given exposure here. I hope to get back into that mix again soon. I have taken an unplanned sabbatical from writing but am about to get back into it with a full measure of passion and careful research.

Thank you for presenting a fair forum with a balanced mix of sources.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary Majayda

GOP hypocritical on the filibuster

The more the Republicans push this issue the more they stand to lose in the long term. This is short-sighted politics at best and an abortion of the Constitution at worst. People will come to see the Republicans for what they truly are as this man has already done. --- Steve Moyer nodes.net/steve ]

GOP hypocritical on the filibuster Thursday, May 5, 2005

News item: Republicans howl over Democrats' threatened use of the filibuster on judicial nominations.
Where were these conservative voices of protest when the right-wing forces in the Senate were filibustering President Johnson's proposed elevation of Abe Fortas to chief justice of the Supreme Court in 1968? In fact, the conservatives set the precedent for this type of action at that very moment.

And where were these conservative voices of protest when the Senate filibuster was being routinely used over a long period of time in the years before the Fortas affair by reactionary Dixiecrats to forestall a vote on meaningful civil rights legislation to remedy the denial of constitutionally guaranteed privileges to black folks?

It is worth noting that those few members of the Southern Senate delegation who did not fit the mold and generally opposed the use of the filibuster on civil rights matters were specimens of that rare breed, enlightened Southern liberal whites. Included in this group were senators Albert Gore Sr. and Estes Kefauver (interestingly, both of the same home state of Tennessee as the disgraceful Bill "Dr. Demagogue" Frist) as well as in the latter part of his congressional career, then-Sen. Lyndon Johnson.

Furthermore, it was the liberals and their allies who upon gaining sufficient power in the Senate in 1975 changed the rules and eased the requirement for cloture during a filibuster to 60 votes from the previously required 67 votes (two-thirds). This preserved the concept of minority rights, but lowered the barrier that had to be overcome for the will of the majority to prevail.

In this current controversy, the conservatives have once again demonstrated that they are nothing more than two-faced hypocrites.
