Uncle Sam to give Israeli settler families 1 mil each to relocate? Sign me up!

I read in the papers today that Ariel Sharon has just asked the United States for an extra $2,200,000,000.00 to cover the cost of relocating Israeli "settlers" away from the Gaza Strip.

Okay. I got out my calculator.

If the U.S. gives Sharon 2.5 billion dollars to help move 9,100 settlers, that's $241,758.24 each! For a family of four, that's $967,032.96 per family. How come we aren't giving almost one million US dollars per family to the poor displaced settlers in Rwanda? In Columbia? In Haiti? In Darfur? Or in Iraq?

And what about the people in New London, Connecticut that the Supreme Court recently kicked out of THEIR homes? Are they getting one mil per family too? And what about me? Give me $241,758.24 for every member of my family and we will settle anywhere! But preferably in a condo on the Riviera.

PS: My friend Rich just pointed out, "Maybe because leaving Gaza was part of Bush's road map, he promised to pay for the withdrawal." But the BBC says that Sharon is requesting 2.2 billion dollars EXTRA. What does that mean? That the settlers are getting MORE than one million dollars per family? That I should ask for a condo on the Riviera AND a condo in Hawaii too? Help me out here. I'm confused.

PPS: If it only costs -- let's say -- $10,000 per settler to move them, does Sharon get to pocket the rest?

DOBBS: Israel is now asking the United States for $2.2 billion in aid money. It is one of the largest Israeli aid requests ever. Israel wants that American money to help pay for the relocation of Israeli settlers from Gaza, but critics say the U.S. taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill.

Using the London bombing for incitements against Muslims

I do believe we are witnessing the death of an "idea" of a "dream." I've been listening the past couple of days to the media pundits; various congressman; Bush; Bliar...everything I hear in terms of the bombings in London, reminds me, actually flashes me back to growing up in the late 40's, especially the 50's and how we were taught of the great enemy to America, to freedom...the "commie bear-USSR".

Like others of my generation was sent to war behind that deception. I grew up living under a desk. Now, behind the tragedy in London, I hear the very same scare campaign, only now directed at Muslims, and pretty much world-wide. Nowhere in the AV 1611 KJV Bible that I read and study do I find anything but God's condemnation of this kind of hate generated by the vipers who have invested this country and it's government.

May God forgive them...

War Profiteering

War profiteering is the greatest larceny against the Iraqi republic. Gas prices are climbing daily....why is that the press is silent over obvious " war profiteering" ?

Why is that the oil company's are posting record profit?

Editor: Three industries have benefited from the permanent war. The oil industry, the military industry, and Israel. The corporate media would not criticize these industries because they beat the drum for the war.

Dear al Jazeerah:

I'm not a genius number cruncher working for the United Nations but, these figures seem remarkably like genocide. Of course I suppose, one would have to establish an "official" guideline for the exact number at where mere mass murder crosses the boundaries and becomes genocide. Maybe the United Nations should establish a "high commission" and do a year long study to establish what that exact number may be.

In the interim, innocent Iraqi men, women, and children will die. Injustice will reign supreme in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine. The world community will turn the blind eye to these atrocities, stuff the global hands smartly into the global pockets, whistle that vaguely familiar tune, and walk away.

Death is only an unspeakable horror when it is happening to white European types or Israelis. The deaths of Muslims then, is merely an odd statistic and random curiosity that garners the occasional look see.

Genocide, atrocity, torture, illegal detentions, and monumental injustice with it's accompanying hypocrisy, are only the stuff of casual conversation and the world is too busy to get itself involved.

Interesting Story: Somerville Mayor Curtatone and Israel-Divestment

During November and December, 2004, Somerville Massachusetts Mayor Curtatone worked hard and successfully to block an Israel-Divestment resolution proposed to the Somerville Board of Aldermen. Shortly afterward, despite Massachusetts ethics regulations, Curtatone took an all-expenses paid trip to Israel as payola from the American Jewish Congress-Council for World Jewry (see http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/newsDetail.cfm?instance_id=661 ). This organization is a major component of the Zionist lobby, which is more loyal to Israel than to Somerville or even to the USA. The lobby never addresses real issues but uses cheap villification as its standard tactic to quash debate.

The Somerville Divestment Project ( http://www.divestmentproject.org/index.shtml ) is a grassroots effort currently collecting signatures for the Responsible Investment Ballot Petition seeking local divestment from Apartheid Israel. Last week Curtatone forced the Somerville Arts Council to ban the Somerville Divestment Project from the ArtBeat Festival coming up on July 16th.

Regardless of one's position on the issue, the pro-Israel lobby is simply sleazy and un-American when it forces Somerville residents to invest public funds in its pet project to maintain a racist Zionist colony in the ME while it actively strives to prevent Somerville voters from having any say. Mayor Curtatone caters to traitors. He is more loyal to Israel than to fundamental American principles. He certainly should not hold a public office in the USA and should be under ethics investigation.
