Iraq Elections

Sir,
We here in the US are hoping success to the elections in Iraq and not much unnecessary bloodshed. The insurgents should look back in history. The US occupied Germany and Japan after defeating them. Then the US poured in  Billions of dollars helping to rebuild them. How many times does a conqueror do that? Then the US left so they could govern themselves with a democratic government. Germany and Japan do not answer to the US today. They are free just as Iraq could be. I hope the Sunni's and all Muslims understand this.

Keith Best
Waukesha USA

Editor:

Dear Keith,

Iraq is different from Germany and Japan. Iraq never posed threat to the US. Sept 11 Commission stated that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and no links with Al-Qaeda. Then, why was it invaded and occupied by the US?

Muslims generally and Iraqis in particular think that this happened for oil and for Israel.

The government of the US has not clarified this issue yet. The best thing the President can do is to declare that the US has no plans on the Iraqi oil, and no plans on staying in Iraq. A timetable of withdrawing the US forces from Iraq will work to assure Iraqis and Muslims generally.

Finally, the US never left Germany and Japan. US forces are still occupying the two countries, something Arabs and Muslims do not accept.

While Europe and China are becoming economic giants, our government is sinking deep in dept to more than $7 trillion, and more if these wars continue.

People want to be free of foreign occupation, just like we in America cherish independence and freedom.

Democracy can never spread by killing people. Invading sovereign nations

Dear Editor:

Now that Iraq has been targeted for a democratic election, the current U.S. administration can proclaim a victory with its "spreading of democracy"! Do we remember when President Bush proclaimed a victory shortly after the invasion of Iraq? Remember the carnage that began shortly after?

Conservative estimates now reveal that two to three U.S. troops, our sons, daughters, husbands, neighbors, are killed each day of the unwanted and unwelcome occupation! President Bush tells the American people that the "mission" will be completed, just a little more time, a little more money, a little more will to stay the course.

The course, we are now told may last through 2006, perhaps longer! That would amount to another 1800 to 2000 more young men and women sacrificed! The Iraqi people are being killed in much greater numbers; homes destroyed, whole towns and villages wiped out. The spreading of democracy at such a cost!

The American people have been asked to pay more money to make this occupation a success. Estimates now have the spending exceeding 200 billion with more being requested from our questionably elected leader! How many schools, healthcare programs, care for our elders -- programs that bring about true peace and security for our homeland -- could be financed instead of this war?

Democracy of the people, by the people, for the people can never spread by killing people. Invading sovereign nations, threatening countries with intimidating tactics, economically or militarily, can only breed distrust and spread more terror and hatred of the United States of America. Can we not see this, this very hour?

What really is being spread, since this current president and his administration have begun, smells much different than the sweet smell of democracy!

Scott Ritter Article of 1-28-04 and Al-Jazeerah Writers

I am writing in reference to Scott Ritter's article "Iraq Invasion was a crime of gigantic proportions". In the article it says

"But, through the invasion of Iraq, a crime of gigantic proportions has been perpetrated. If history has taught us anything, it is that it will condemn both the individuals and respective societies who not only perpetrated the crime, but also remained blind and mute while it was being committed."

I laughed out loud at that. How can a person with such familiarity with how governments work be so naive?

We have history right in front of us. Iraq was invaded around 2000-2001. This is 2005. 4 years of history have passed us by. Have you seen any condemnation of Britain the USA or their master Israel? Of course we have. Iraqis, various Muslim peoples. You know. The people that don't matter. The ones that no one pays attention to.

The important people? They are right this minute celebrating the invasion of Iraq and planning more invasions of Syria and Iran. I would say that history shows us that murderers, liars and thieves prosper. Murderers, liars and thieves now own Iraq, they own the Iraqi oil, they hunt Iraqis for sport every day, they defile Iraqi women with body searches, they defile Iraqi men in prison with their slatternly women and homosexual men.

I think Scott Ritter, along with most of the other writers, Sam Hamod, Linda Heard, Jim Kirwan, all need to wake up. Evil wins, evil prospers, evil is rewarded. All the stories they have heard about "the rule of law" and that "good wins in the end" is propaganda that makes them the ineffective people they are. All of that propaganda ensures that they sit in a chair somewhere, harmless, because they think that their written opinion can change physical events in the world.

Evil should be stopped. That is the lesson of history that Mr Ritter should recall. In the movie "The Lord of the Rings", evil did not stop hurting and killing until the entire rest of the world allied with each other and destroyed them. The current plan for world domination by Israel and it's colonies; the British, USA, Canadians and Australians should be stopped. Each one a Caucasian dominated country.

Sincerely,

Woodrow Gillian, USA

Possible US Pre-emptive strikes in Iran

Dear Editor,

One wonders if nuclear is the main issue behind the US burning desire to strike Iran. Iran has cooperated and willingly allowed its nuclear facilities to be investigated. The IAEA has given Iran the clean bill. Not clean enough for the US though.

The strike or attack on Iran is more likely due to the extent of influence Iran has in Iraq and Afghanistan now and the future. Perhaps unknown to us, but not unknown to both sides of the military and political circles, is the covert Iranian intelligence agency’s role in the present Iraqi attacks on US soldiers and destabilization of the pro-US Iraqi regime. Such report will normally go unreported without proof or is confidential, but the continuous supply of sophisticated arms such SAMs means that arms supply is flowing into Iraq.

It is not situation now that concerned Bush and the neo-cons. It is the future – what will happen 5 years, 10 years or 15 years down the road. Iran could have a very strong influence in both these countries After spending billions to gain influence in Afghanistan and Iraq, both are neighbors with Iran, will US just sit back and let Iran play politics, and erode US control over both these countries? There are no royal families for US to install in both these countries to exert its influence through them, and under democratic system, Iran’s long term influence in the democratic outcome in both Iraq and Afghanistan will definitely not be in US favor.

To eliminate such influences, Iran regime need to be pro US. Under the present regime, that is not going to happen, and only military option is available for regime change. Military option to bring freedom to Iran is total nonsense. Iran, no matter how imperfect its democracy is now, holds election – may not be the same way and method as US. But military option on the pretext of nuclear threat is the only viable option US thinks it can sell to the world.

Bush job ain’t finish there yet until the last cowboy that stand in his way is eliminated!
