An Open Letter to President Bush: Israel still stealing land By Selma Hermez Al-Jazeerah, January 22, 2005
Dear Senator Christopher J. Dodd, Dear Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, Dear Congressman John Larson, Dear Congresswoman Nancy L. Johnson, Dear Mr. President, Dear Mr. Vice President, I have just read a disturbing report that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon plans on implementing the "Absentee Property Law" in East Jerusalem in an effort to steal Arab owned land in East Jerusalem from thousands of Palestinians currently living in the West Bank. Estimates show that Israel could end up appropriating up to half of all Arab owned East Jerusalem property. I expect you to make all American welfare to Israel contingent on their strict adherence to international law. Stealing Palestinian-owned land in East Jerusalem is a clear violation of a litany of UN Resolutions, most importantly, U.N. Resolution 252 which calls on Israel to rescind all measures that change the legal status of Jerusalem, including the expropriation of land and properties thereon and that Israel stop taking measures to unify Jerusalem as the Jewish capital. The current land grab and the building of the apartheid wall in Jerusalem proves that Israel is not serious about making peace with the Palestinians and that Israel can and will violate any U.N. Resolutions it pleases without being held accountable by Washington. How long will you tolerate Israeli intransigence of the law at my expense? As a hard working taxpayer I deserve to know how I benefit from your unfettered support of Israeli war crimes. I deeply resent that my life and the lives of millions of Americans are being placed in danger because of this government's sordid relationship with Israeli interest groups. Now that the "Arafat excuse" is off the table I expect you to make sure that Israel honors international law and UN Resolutions demanding an end to the barbaric occupation of millions of Palestinians. I am watching events in the region carefully to see whether you are serious about democracy, freedom and human rights or whether you were merely paying lip service to these ideas. Sincerely, Selma Hermez
Hear, Hear! A man of liberty is coming!! After inauguration of his second term President ship of George Bush Jr, he has declared he will ensure freedom to be exported to all countries. We all very well know his contribution to freedom and democracy and what he did in those countries whom he wanted to teach some lessons in freedom and democracy. He is also reported to be planning to export the meaning and purpose of freedom to some more countries in the days to come. He is itching for creating turmoil in Iran and is inching forward to find some type of elusive WMD there, to frame an excuse for attacking that part of the world. There will be tremendous reactions around the world if Iran is attacked. He enslaved Iraq and has completely destroyed Iraq and its internal security is in doldrum. He was responsible for the untimely death of thousands of innocent Iraqis. Now he is conducting a sham election there, the outcome of which will not be very good for every one. Peace will be elusive in Iraq for years to come. At the same time, this great freedom lover sided shoulder to shoulder with Israel in its evil designs against Palestine and approved all their murderous policies. He has been strangulating freedom of peoples of other countries in the name of "showing the maning and promise of liberty abroad". People of the world do not want his version of freedom, at any cost. The world be warned! Dr Aboobakar Thwahir
Useless WMD Are they gone totally mad ? The Western world, as (before 1999) was the light and hope for the future of the World -- - then they persisted in a belief to obtain a peaceful solutions. - (meanwhile though they continued to produce Weapons of Mass Destruction to fill up the arsenals - and build more buildings - to fill up the stores - to build more stores - to fill up..... - but It gave a kind of respect in the negotiation situations. These times are gone - the idiots, Bush&Blair &Co (Nato) have squandered that respect - by activating their murderous weapon. Now, those same idiots repeatedly talk about holding a democratic election.! [in Iraq - an occupied country ! !] It is a crazy idea - completely lacking common sense Is it really necessary ? to remind of - that a Democracy needs the right to be able to differ in opinion - - without being shot at.
