Famous Quotes about War&Peace #44 "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed." President Dwight D. Eisenhower Sent By Charles A Beers
March interview with Peroutka Dear Editor, In March of this year, you posted an interview between Mark Dankof and Presidential Candidate Michael Peroutka. Recently, a George W Bush supporter posted a link to your article and insists that it proves that Peroutka has sought the support of Muslims. Would you mind visiting this link to a weblog and commenting? If it is accurate to say so, please declare that the interview's presence on your website does not indicate any association between Mr. Peroutka and Islamic beliefs or causes. http://www.upsaid.com/scarecrow/index.php?action=viewcom&id=147 Thank you, Mike Terrell Editor: It is so sad that some readers of the above website have reached this level of intolerance. They are criticizing Michael Peroutka because an article was published at Al-Jazeerah.info about him!!! Well, Al-Jazeerah is a free forum for Americans from all walks of life or political persuasions who believe in peace. Actually, contributors represent various faiths, including Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Hindus, from America and around the world. Most amazing is that these readers don't think of their fellow Muslim Americans as having the right to give their votes to whoever they deem deserving. By the way, many Muslim Americans gave their votes to George Bush in 2000, particularly in Florida, which might have been a decisive factor in helping him to win the presidency. This webblog sounds like we're living in the days of segregation before the 1960s, but this time it's a religious segregation, and Muslims Americans are the target of discrimination replacing African Americans. I'm sad. I invite readers of the above mentioned website to be more tolerant towards their fellow Muslim Americans. Al-Jazeerah.info is a US publication that is written mainly by Americans for a mainly American audience. You don't have to belong to the faith of the editor of a publication if you're interviewed or an article is written about you. I assure you that it would have been an honor to meet or correspond with Mr. Peroutka, but this never happened. May God give them peace of the mind and show you the right path.
Correction: Mandatory draft for US boys and girls (ages 18-26) starting June 15, 2005 (September 29 issue)
The author was inaccurate in the presentation of HR
163. The article did not mention that HR 163 sponsors are primarily
Democrats of African heritage.

Dominionists calling someone "anti-Semitic" is "semantic terrorism" I am encouraging pro-America activists to begin using the terms “Dominionism” or “Dominionists” instead of fundamentalists, neo-cons, etc. Dominionism is an umbrella term for Jews, Christians, Muslims alike who want bible- based government. And in response to the empty charge of “anti-Semitism”, I tell peace activists to point out that Semite refers to a group of African-Asian languages, not Jews and that when called anti-Semite they are being victimized by semantic terrorism. Baghdad Weather (Second Version) I noted an article about Extreme Weather by Tom Engelhardt. Although Iraq is deeply tragic, it made me think of the possible Baghdad weather forecast. Something like: Friday: Starting quiet, scattered showers of mortars in Najaf, possibility of thundery explosions later. Saturday: Outbursts of AK 47 gunfire expected throughout Falluja. Political fog likely to thicken. Sunday: Westerly storms expected. Sporadic hail of 'precision' bombs expected in civilian areas, strong possibility of innocent casualties. No go areas then expected to widen across a broader front. Slightly cooler in Basra but atmosphere oppressive. General outlook: Intense depression over entire country. Hearts and minds barometer sinking as high pressure increases. Long-term outlook: Unsettled with extremely grim election prospects. 'Humane' war to continue with accompanying 'shock and awe' . Winds of hypocrisy may bring sudden climate shift before or immediately after US autumnal event. Western clouds lifting but local hurricanes and sandstorms will intensify. But really I am just so tired of the killing in this 'dead-end' conflict. What an utter catastrophe! Poor Iraq! Record expected temperatures in Iran 4000 degrees. Fine over Israel. Phil Hong
OSCE: upcoming US election not without technical and other problems Translation from below: one months before US election Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) criticized problems in the voting machines system of USA. Besides other problems - there are still problems with the digital voting machines - and the software is not submitted (permitted) to inspection by the public. The Republicans resent OSCE members who plan to overlook the election and are working on having them leave the country. (That's called a democracy !! ????) Angie Badelt, Germany
