God Created....
I am an open-minded, live-and-let live Christian
minister, but the cover of the 9/27/04 Sports Illustrated offended
me. We live in a society that has largely replaced God with other
deities, not the least of which is sports...and so to the folks in the
grocery line seeing Sports Illustrated with sports heroes replacing
biblical figures...what's the message? I applaud the creative
inspiration to use universally known great art to convey the history
of sports. But please, don't replace our biblical heritage with
sports greats.

America the only country sending women to war: I understand equality, and rights for all. (but)
along with it comes a responsibility for our government to be certain,
be fore going into any "war". it frustrates me to think that churches
back this administration that has no The war on Iraq was a mistake -- war was unnecessary because the inspections were working: "Today, President Bush tells us that he would do everything all over again, the same way. How can he possibly be serious? Is he really saying that if we knew there were no imminent threat, no weapons of mass destruction, no ties to Al Qaeda, the United States should have invaded Iraq? My answer is no -- because a commander in chief's first responsibility is to make a wise and responsible decision to keep America safe." Iraq distracted from the war on terror: "The president claims it is the centerpiece of his war on terror. In fact, Iraq was a profound diversion from that war and the battle against our greatest enemy, Osama bin Laden and the terrorists. Invading Iraq has created a crisis of historic proportions and, if we do not change course, there is the prospect of a war with no end in sight." President Bush misled us about the reasons for the war before it occurred: "He failed to tell the truth about the rationale for going to war. And he failed to tell the truth about the burden this war would impose on our soldiers and our citizens. By one count, the president offered 23 different rationales for this war." President Bush is still misleading people about
Iraq, painting an optimistic picture directly contradicted by his own
intelligence officials: " ONLY IN AMERICA CAN YOU HAVE A PRESIDENT THAT AVOIDED SERVING IN VIET NAM, BUT FEELS OK SENDING WOMEN INTO IRAQ. Ronald Waldron
Formal Call for a Constitutional Convention Fellow Citizens of the United States of America: I am hereby calling for a Constitutional Convention. Reference: http://www.constitution.org/constit_.htm Article. V. "The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; .." We have never had a convention even though more than 30 states have already called upon Congress to convene one. Congress is the major impediment. Over the years Congress has claimed that the calls for a convention did not contain identical language or that they were not done in a timely manner. I therefore propose that each state pass an identical resolution calling for a convention and setting forth the manner in which the delegates of said convention shall be selected. This resolution shall affirm that no amendment will be considered or ratified which would further restrict the liberty of the people. The purpose of the convention will be to address issues which Congress has failed to address, such as the national debt, the solvency of the Social Security trust fund, health care for all the people and the permitted uses of the U.S. Military. The only restraint upon the Convention shall be that it cannot propose any amendment which would dilute, disparage or deny any right of the people already protected by the Constitution.. The total number of delegates to the convention shall be the same as the total number in the Congressional delegation for each State ( House members plus Senate members ). The delegates shall be chosen by the people in a state-wide election to commence in the next Congressional election. Candidates shall be qualified for ballot access when they have met the existing requirements in that State for becoming a candidate for the House of Representatives. The candidates which receive the most votes shall become the delegates . Comment: The very act of calling for a Constitutional Convention has an effect on everyone in the Federal Government. Once it is convened it will have the potential to form consensus, since 3/4 of the States are needed to ratify any amendments it proposes, which by itself will act as a guiding influence upon the Congress, the President and the Courts. The history of the amendment process indicates Congress frequently will take proper action once it is clear that the States are beginning to form a consensus. Respectfully submitted to the Sovereign People of the United States of America on September 25, 2004. Steven K. Moyer 42 Hall Rd.
