Good work

I knew we in North America were getting a much distorted view of the Arab world. I've read this website many times before but I didn't give it the gravity of attention as I do now. I see the website is based in the US. I'm very grateful you continue to give us the news from the Arab perspective. We know war is bad but CNN just isn't showing us what we need to see. Don't give up. People are trying to see both sides and soon this Bush administration won't be able to cloud and control the ignorant.

The US should back off from crushing the Shi'i uprising

US has again got itself into a corner, from which it cannot come out without heavy bloodshed and possibly one of the most far-reaching and historical confrontation which will go down as a direct clash between Christian West and Muslim Middle East.

It should be remembered that the Shi'is treat Najaf and Karbala as holy, precisely to honour the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his family, grandson of Prophet Mohammed, who was fighting another tyrant, that had usurped the young realm of Islam.

If they cannot forget the incident for the last 14 centuries, will they easily forgive and forget the American assault on the Shi'i Holy cities?

The tragedy will bound to add to the increasing fighters who may unleash terror on the US, probably all around the world.

Nik Govin, has tried to compare the situation with the past carnage inflicted by Saddam on Shi’is in putting down similar uprising and defiance. The two incidents will differ, in as much as Americans are foreigners and Christians and as such doubly hated. In Saddam’s case, at least he was from Iraq, though from a 'different' sect of Islam.

US should use all the ingenuity at its command to back off. It will be a more intelligent decision that the world would definitely laud.
